Though I don't quite understand the question, I'll answer it both ways:

To "Is there a danger involved in having/using dupes online?": None directly from the games, but you will earn the resentment of your fellow players, as Iceblink said.

To "Is there a danger of having/using dupes online?": Yes, but it can be kept to a minimum by not accepting items (especially rare ones) from strangers and knowing what the common dupes are.
