I keep wandering back and forth from this forum, going away for a year or two, returning for a few posts, then slipping off again!

Drawing fanart and writing bad fan-fiction for PSO gc was pretty much my gateway into the creative world, so to speak. Gave me a theme to work on and come back to.

With PSO2 finally upon us I wound up feeling pretty nostalgic. : ] I hope to stay around a bit longer this time.

So! For a few of you veterans who have been around for a while or have wandered over to my DA now and then, you'll probably have seen some of these. But for the rest, here are a few examples of my various illustration styles-- almost all executed exclusively in photoshop cs3.

That massive mountain of talent you have? You should siphon some off to the people who can't even draw stick figures. I mean, damn. This stuff is beyond professional-grade. I don't even want to know how much practice it took to get to that skill level. Amazing work.

Augh!

You have some serious skill I can't even go into detail on it (mostly because I can't paint.)

I'm always jealous of ANYONE that can paint. (Though I've never seriously tried.) D:

I hate being stuck inside the lines... Your style is motivating. D:

I wasn't making an animation (Though I should try at some point)

I was writing a comic, but I'm 20 years old so that means I suffer severe procrastination trauma. D:

Wait were you even talking to me? @_@

You make me super sad at my skills, like seriously ; ~;

But I love your style for reals. If I could get half as good as that maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaan

@ Big Olaf: Funny that you should mention that. In the time of my own stick drawing phase, a really good (and generous) artist by the id of SHINE passed through the forums, taking character requests for free and bringing out some really amazing paintings. After seeing her breath life into a character concept of mine, it pretty much inspired me to start try out art more, I wanted to be able to do the same.

Took a lot of hours, but a concept artist can create just about anything they can imagine, no amount of effort isn't worth that.

@ Rock Eastwood: Try it! : ]

It feels fun the first few times, then horrible and messy as you try to climb up the skill ladder. You get a really strong emphasis on shape, light, and color though, essential focal points to train in for any field of art.

@ qoxolg: Thanks bud~ Yahr, the animation, I'm still in the researching phase for it. Getting in shape in dance class and doing a lot of anatomy & kinesiology study. My anatomy drawings have become x10 times more accurate even without drawing that much this past year. xD

@ Ami: Just keep at it, is the tried and true advice-- but also push yourself to try out different approaches to drawing from time to time. What an artist requires most is simply.. CONSTANT VIGILANCE when faced with the daunting task of turning wispy thin ideas in the head into concrete visual forms-- and sometimes you need to approach the task from a different angle to get around the occasional road block.

I love this one, that is seriously background material, if my character was drawn into that art style I would give my friends girlfriend.

Awesome job, keep the world filled with beautiful creations such as this, if you stop all of a sudden expect an unwelcome visitor....But just curious how long did it take you to draw this lovely robot lady?

I think around 20-24 hours of painting time, so quite a bit longer than I normally spend. Speedpaints are an hour or two, regular paintings around 8-12 hrs.

Thanks! ..and I'll watch my back. xD

I had a feeling you were inspired by SHINE, can definitely see the influence. She was an amazing artist, and the pieces you're producing lately are brilliant.

I studied character design while at university which involved a lot of long drawing sessions. Unfortunately, the guy leading the course preferred us to work within tight constraints so I never really felt like I could draw how I wanted to. I think because of that, I pretty much gave up on it and haven't returned to it since. Anytime I try to draw something now it's like any skill I did have has disappeared :disapprove:

Hopefully you stick around a while; I've seen you come and go quite a few times over thr years

Hoping PSO2 being F2P or generally surpassing it's predecessors brings this game into the light, above underground fans. Then maybe the art section here would become more active. There definitely seems to be a lot of diversity here, though. (Unlike another game I played where people strictly drew chibi's and borderline shounen ai stuff...)

Seeing more PSO2 art would be interesting.

Amazing art btw. Epics, all of them.
