I was really happy with the picks that the Ravens got. Despite trading out of the first round, we got a player that should have been drafted in the first in Courtney Upshaw. I was happy with this pick because we lost one of the most underrated players in our defense in Jarret Johnson to free agency, and Upshaw could come in right away and start in that position. We also got a good running back from Temple who will fill the void that has been left as a result of Ricky Williams retiring. He also does some special teams, something that gave Baltimore trouble on many occasions last season. We also got some other offensive and defensive linemen, as well as 2 players that play in the secondary (you know you can never have too many of those guys). I'm definitely happy with their picks this year, and I believe these guys will definitely help give us a great chance to make it to the Super Bowl. GO RAVENS:-D

Im excited to see how last years rookie class progresses with a full non locked out offseason this year. Cam Newton is definitely one to watch.

As for the draft my Texans and Redskins made some good moves lets just hope the players all pan out.

I'm an Eagles fan, but I've got a lot of love for the redskins. It's going to be interesting to see what the skins do. That team is built for success... The offense is completely revamped. A lot of speed and athleticism. Cooley, Davis, Garcon, Morgan... Can't wait to see it.

all the good long time players are getting cut now after manning excluding Tebow. guess it's time for a new era. they are getting old while the new comers are in town.

1, Ochocinco cut after one season with Patriots
2. Jaguars release veteran DE Kampman in cost-cutting move
3. Chad Clifton
who's next?
Vic? he is starting to struggle.

I think if Baltimore doesnt win it all or atleast make the superbowl this year most of their defense and offense will probably be traded off or cut for younger guys.

Pittsburgh was smart and decided to start getting younger last offseason and this offseason so far.

if you guys missed the 1st pre season game

Quick Take: Saints open preseason impressively
CANTON, Ohio -- Football is back. That alone makes this opening preseason affair between the New Orleans Saints and Arizona Cardinals different than the rest.
The Hall of Fame Game didn't paint a complete picture about the teams playing in the Saints' 17-10 victory, but hints were dropped. Some of them were ominous.
1. Let's start with a bright spot. In Drew Brees' lone offensive drive, the Saints picked up where they left off in January. The team buzzed down the field for the first touchdown of 2012. The Cardinals, totally asleep at the wheel, did nothing to stop the running game. New Orleans' three-headed monster of Mark Ingram, Darren Sproles and Pierre Thomas might toy with the 3,000-yard mark this season.
2. A collection of college officials worked the game. Things didn't start well. The upside here is that, just like the players, the replacement refs have a full preseason to work out the kinks. You. Can. Do. It.
3. Kevin Kolb was very Kevin Kolb-ish out of the gate. On his first pass of the 2012 preseason, he was picked off by Saints safety Malcolm Jenkins. On his second drive, Kolb floated passes to phantom-men and ran rattled behind an overwhelmed offensive line. On drive No. 3, disaster struck. Kolb was injured, leaving with a rib contusion. Outrageous opening act for Kolb.
4. John Skelton, by contrast, threw the ball well. He moved the Cardinals and led them on a long, balanced scoring drive. The offensive line -- frankly, a concern for Arizona after tonight -- did little to help, but Skelton showed an ability to make things happen. Round 1 of this quarterback battle has a clear winner. And when it comes to Kolb, the lingering question is this: Does anyone believe he can last 16 games?
5. One additional injury worth monitoring for the Cardinals: Starting linebacker Paris Lenon suffered a right ankle injury during the first quarter. He was listed as doubtful to return, and we didn't see him again Sunday night.

scores for week 2 pre season

http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a215/xl2YClNx/pree.png

what impressed me the most was that was up and downs.

We're not sure what was worse for the Jets: Their pass blocking or run blocking. Wayne Hunter gave up four sacks in one half and became a worldwide trending topic. Rex Ryan was even more disappointed the team repeatedly got stuffed in short-yardage situations. There's so little to like about this offense.
» Giants running back Ahmad Bradshaw left the game and but an X-ray on his hand was negative. Impressive rookie cornerback Jayron Hosley had a boot on his right foot after the game. The Giants can't afford to lose another cornerback, and they don't seem to trust rookie running back David Wilson in pass protection.
» Marc Sessler took a big picture look at Mark Sanchez and Tim Tebow. To boil it down: The two are only part of the Jets' problem, and Tebow prevented any cries of a quarterback controversy with some embarrassing throws and slow decision-making.

Dallas Cowboys beat New York Giants in opener

- Tony Romo threw for three touchdowns, two to new-found favorite receiver Kevin Ogletree , and the Dallas Cowboys beat the Super Bowl champion New York Giants 24-17 on Wednesday night in the NFL season opener. Dallas outplayed its division rival nearly all game, reversing its loss to the Giants on New Year's Day that set up their run to the title last season. Ogletree, the Cowboys ' third wideout, scored on passes of 10 and 40 yards, Miles Austin had a leaping 34-yard score and DeMarco Murray rushed for 129 yards, including a spectacular 48-yard romp in the third quarter.

The replacement officials were not the feared focal point many expected as the game was called without any blatant errors or ugly controversy. Despite the closeness of the final score, it really wasn't that tight.

BIG OLAF

Was a good win. I was a bit surprised, but I'm glad Ogletree shimmied his way into the 3rd receiver slot. Nice way to start the season for me.

Well the Manning era in Denver has begun and what a great start. Hopefully this carries over into next week against a tough Falcons team and then the following week against an equally tough Texans team. Man the schedule makers sure didn't like us for the 1st 7 games. Gotta play the Pats and Saints during the stretch as well.

the top to games I thought were impressive

were

Redskins Over Saints and Broncos Over Steelers
If you thought the hype surrounding Robert Griffin III was big before, you haven't seen anything yet. RG3 dropped a 40-burger on the New Orleans Saints in the Superdome. This happened. It's hard to overstate how good the game plan was for Washington, which came away with a 40-32 victory. Griffin's first six passes were behind the line of scrimmage. His seventh went for 88 yards. The Redskins threw an array of screens, option plays and rollouts at the Saints. New Orleans had no answer. Griffin made great decisions all day. He knew when to run and knew when to throw. He went through his reads. He looked like a veteran.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W8cvlf4lsKY

Manning (19 of 26, 253 yards, 2 TDs) was in complete control Sunday night, picking apart the Pittsburgh Steelers' defense in a vintage performance. With one commanding performance, the Denver Broncos are legit contenders to come out of the AFC.
» Once the Broncos went into the no-huddle offense in the second quarter, Manning (129.2 passer rating) was unstoppable. Denver had three touchdowns and a field goal in its final four possessions.

Oh my don't Remind me about that game... haha! At least it was not their worse against The Texans.

The Texans Shut out the Jags one time at home 38 - 0... LoL.
but again. this was still a Horrible game.. Horrible than last years game with Gabberts Rookie year!! LOL.

I Think We just need a 1st round QB and not a 10th round. just like how the jags got left witch one time. and idnt make it with him.

becuase these days 1st round QB's do great. look at CAM and RG3. already doing great!! I even think luck is there too!

I hope Denver Gets a win tonight as well

after the parts losing against the cardinals and the saints 0-2??? LOL

UGH! Tough, tough loss today to the Texans at home. Manning again looked a bit rusty and D again couldn't get off the field on 3rd down situations. Looks like the offense might take another couple of weeks before they start to settle in b/c it's not until the 4th qtr of every game this season in which they finally start to click. That being said the Texans are LEGIT! The D they have is crazy good and yeah its safe to say they are probably the best team in the League up to this point. Stupid schedule makers Denver is 1-2 on the season now and both of are losses are to the Falcons and Texans...a now combined 6-0! I still think we'll be fine however as both games have only been 6pt losses

OMG. haha

I NOW OFFICIALLY HATE THE TEXANS AS In COLTS Wise / Peyton Manning. It's like starting all over again. if you guys know what I mean.

Since Texans is in Jags Div. and Jags Defeated the Colts. it was easy. but then now its tough seeing the Texans 3-0. things are diffrent.

wish we still had Garrard as our QB. starting fresh is so diffrent.

and see life about tom coughlin on NFL Network. that makes me even have shame on my face / SMH. becuase the jags should have kept him. well it was actually the fans fault. becuase jags started to lose games instead of winning.

but in other good news. im about to be 3-0 in my Fantasy wooohoo!!

thanks to Shaub , Jones drew, :D

yeah, im just saying because of the division. it's like starting all over again since they are 3-0. since there is no manning in the AFC south no more.
and that's why I wish we still had Garrard as out QB.

Shaub is like the legend and reins in it in the AFC south as current. and the rest are rookies. ( Gabbert, Luck, and Locker )

AFC SOUTH
Texans 3-0
Colts - 1-2
Jags - 1-2
Titans - 1-2

Philadelphia's offense is sooooooo ratchet right now... Same problem going on since just before the Mcnabb era ended... RUN THE BALL!!! That's why Arizona kept blitzing, cause they knew the eagles were gonna pass, pass, pass. And the CBs for Arizona only needed to cover for like 2.5 seconds. Play calling needs to improve, cause the Defense needs help. I'm not used to this horrible T.O.P.

BIG OLAF
Sep 24, 2012, 11:16 PM
yeah, really. Two completely garbage calls there. The pass interference on Shields (when it was clearly Sidney Rice's wrong), and the touchdown call at the end of the game when Jennings cuh-learly had first and complete possession (outside of Tate having one hand on the ball, which was bundled and held against Jennings's chest quite comfortably) of the ball.

Oh, and all those helmet-to-helmet and roughing penalties that should have been called in pretty much every other game.

Hopefully those morons actually costing a team a win will open some eyes and the league can stop being so cunty and let the regular refs have their terms met.

Ryno
Sep 25, 2012, 01:13 PM
Oh well even though it's replacement refs. Refs will always be refs. becuase in the past Refs. they do the same as well. and fans coaches, players, get upset. seeing if it's 1st down , good, etc.

like I remember long time ago in the 90's. it was Jags against Titans and Jimmy smith caught a touch down, but the refs didnt count it. I still have a good memory of it.

but lets look over it.

I still think Jennings caught it

I gotta say these playoff games are so far the best I've yet seen cause they are all close games!

I wanted Seahawks to win because we need a new era / Russell Wilson . Everyone is old!
Now I'm going to have to predict ravens and 49ners
And ravens to win because its Lewis last game. 49ners because they haven't been in a long time. Patriots - no. They have been in and won some.

As long as the Falcons or 49ers take it all, I'll be happy.

Yeah, I'm so goddamn sick of Tom Brady and the Brady Bunch over in New England. Baltimore would be nice, what with Ray Lewis' retirement forthcoming after the playoffs. Going out with a Super Bowl win would be awesome.

But, with Kaepernick being so stellar for an initial backup quarterback, it would be awesome for the Niners to take it all, as well. Atlanta, meh. Don't really care 'bout them.

This is the second year in a row that this matchup will take place. The ravens were a FG short off going to the Super Bowl. The team is motivated and will rally behind Ray Lewis, and I believe that it will be enough for the Ravens to win this Sunday. Im gonna be watching the game with my roommate that is stationed in Natick with me. His whole family, including him, all love the Patriots. Im gonna be the only Ravens fan in Mass:-D

And I predicted right!!! Ravens and 49ners!! With ravens winning the super bowl because its ray lewis Lewis last year. Oh and they played better than the 49ners. I would go for the 49ners since its a new Erra but going for the ravens since its Lewis last game

Atlanta, meh. Don't really care 'bout them.

No one does, even in Georgia, cept for me. I don't care though, they are just stupid 'fair weather' people(people as in those in Georgia).

Although I am highly disappointed that we didn't make it.. I haven't felt this bad since our lose to Denver in Super Bowl 33.

Matter of fact, this whole playoff/regular season seemed to spring an ass of bandwagon jumpers and hoppers ~_~ while I stuck with my team from start to finish.

I hope the 9ners win for the NFC, cause call it conspiracy but I think all those teams that faced the Ravens threw their games for Ray Lewis. I expected the Pats to not play like Denver and Indy but damn I was wrong..

I was probably happier last night when the Ravens won the AFC championship than I was when they won it back in 2000. This team has had to overcome many things on so many levels, from the injuries earlier in the season to so many great players including Ray Lewis and Terrel Suggs, to the death of Torrey Smith's brother and also of former Ravens owner Art Modell before the start of the season (that's why they wear the patch on their jersey that says "art"). Ray Lewis said this was his "last ride". Its only fitting that one of the greatest of all time will have the chance to retire a Super Bowl Champ. In two weeks I'm gonna cheer for my hometeam harder than I ever have before.

Also, the head coaches are brothers. This game will be a great one and I cant wait!:-D

Amazing how football works huh? Just think we were a defensive breakdown away from my Broncos advancing to AFC Champ Game and Ray Lewis would have been retired. Now the Ravens have beat both Brady and Manning on the road to the SB. It's stories like these in which why Sports is the best entertainment out there IMO (sorry video games your a distant 2nd even though i love to play games)

Well, I would say that the Ravens this year reminded me of 2000 due to the whole "overcome" aspect. But I guess they did have to overcome more setbacks due to that list. In 2000, it was simply the idea of winning over the commentators and everybody else in the sport that said they shouldn't even be there. Back then, the Ravens were the black sheep of Football. Representing a city many folks said didn't deserve a football team. Being right in Baltimore just to see a certain sports commentator make the official apology after the victory parade, it was wild.

I've never seen the city so electrified like it was in 2000. And unlike some certain college conduct after a big win, the streets maybe packed, but it was also one of the safest days to be on the streets of B-more. The biggest crowd of just plain happy people I've seen together in person. Everybody knew the score. It wasn't about just Football. It was about the relevance of the entire city, for which people in sports publicly put in question. If things pan out at the Super Bowl, I definitely want to see how it compares. It may not be quite the same because it's not like the city is proving itself anymore.

what a game ravens were going on a blow out then a power outage sucked away their skills like the monsters in space jam. then they came back and learned how to play defense. what a game. some questionable calls on both ends

Wasn't really for either team. It was certainly an exciting game, though.

Everyone on my Fb is using that line.

Kinda worried about the winner riots, to be honest...

It's all quiet here, though. So I'm happy.

Once again I predicted right! Ravens to win the Super Bowl because its lewis last year.

It's funny we always see a QB on nfl photos mostly but this time it's Lewis cause of course.

Once again let's re cap since its the last game

- The Baltimore Ravens' defense, pushed around for most of the second half of Super Bowl XLVII, made a stop when it mattered most. Ray Lewis is going out a champion.

The Ravens beat the San Francisco 49ers 34-31 at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome on Sunday in one of the wildest Super Bowls in memory. We saw a blown fake field goal, a power outage lasting more than 30 minutes, multiple goal-line stands, a kickoff return for a touchdown, and an intentional safety. And we had a sensational performance by MVP winner Joe Flacco.

The Baltimore Ravens are champions for many reasons, but a few stand out above the rest:

RED ZONE DEFENSE

The 49ers reached the red zone six times, but only scored two touchdowns on those six tries. Their inability to punch it in from inside the 10-yard line with under two minutes left will be talked about for years. The final sequence included a two-yard run by LaMichael James and three straight incompletions by quarterback Colin Kaepernick intended for Michael Crabtree.

Niners fans will debate forever whether Ravens cornerback Jimmy Smith held Crabtree on fourth down. It was a shaky non-call, but it was also a poor throw by Kaepernick and a weak route by Crabtree coming off the line. The Ravens' defense stayed aggressive until the end, sending pressure. They could not create a pass rush, but they managed to hold on.

JOE FLACCO'S ARM

Any questions about Joe Flacco now? Flacco was insanely accurate, and simply made throws that other quarterbacks can't make. When the 49ers' offense was rolling in the second half, the Ravens' offense responded with two long drives that ate up the clock and put points on the board. Baltimore's offensive line held up well.

The 49ers' defense was supposed to be the dominant group in this game. But the Ravens' offense won their battles all night.

NEVER BLINKING

This Ravens team come from behind against the Denver Broncos in the AFC divisional playoffs to win in a second overtime despite giving up two special-teams touchdowns. They came from behind at halftime to beat the New England Patriotsin the AFC Championship Game. And they survived an insane second-half rally during the Super Bowl to come out champions.

Most teams would have been finished after giving up 17 points over a span of 4 minutes 10 seconds in the third quarter. The Ravens responded with two long drives on offense, and a last-second stop on the goal line.

It doesn't have to make sense that this Ravens team was the one to break through after so many playoff appearances. NFL football rarely makes sense. That's part of the reason why we love it.

By the end of this rollercoaster classic, everyone thought the 49ers were going in for a game-winning touchdown. Just like everyone thought the Ravens would lose to the Denver Broncos and lose in Foxborough. But the Ravens' defense, the group that carried this team for so many years, finally stood tall.

Yesterday was a great day for the city of Baltimore. As a fan of the Ravens I was on the edge of my seat as the game met its end after many thrilling events. The power outage felt like an eternity, and definitely seemed to play in favor of the 49ers as they played with new life after power was restored. I was happy to see Flacco be the MVP of the game after he threw for 287 yards with 3 TD and 0 INT. There were many plays that I did not agree with until they fully materialized, especially Jacoby Jones taking out the halftime kick from the back of the endzone. It was a risk that was well rewarded seeing that he tied the league record for a kickoff return. The defense lived up to its reputation with a red zone stand that proved to be the difference in the game. Great coaching and situational awareness led coach Harbaugh to have punter Sam Koch bring down the clock to 4 seconds while allowing a safety and effectively giving the niners their first loss in the super bowl as a franchise. Ray Lewis is definitely a player deserving to go out as a champion. Thanks Ray for 17 years of a Hall of Fame career.

It was also great to see Jonathan Ogden on the field in the beginning of the game:-D
