[Crimera]

This originally started as just a gender swap for my main character Sarsen. I was curious to see if I could make an attractive yet somewhat accurate female version of him and so Sara was born. After that I wanted to display them together without using the typical character creator background that I normally use, so it turned into a little art project =P. I kinda wanted to do another smaller one with different portrait angles of these two but laziness got the better of me *sad face*.

DoF seems to be one of those 'things'. kind of like when you first learn how to do drop shadows, then you gotta put drop shadows on EVERYTHING, because you think it looks cool.

I love the effort put into those edited pics here but damn I can't stop crossing my eyes looking at most of them. DoF effects are usually for extreme foreground focus, or even stuff like motion blur and cinematic stuff like focusing on something not in the foreground. If you like giving people the physical sensation of nausea looking at your pics though, go ahead D: or maybe I just have weak eyes.

Anyway, his pic is a very nice composite.


Also, since it's a pic thread... dusted the FO off for a day to play with the Quartz units... discovered that either I'm really bad at FO (likely) or stuff in sky just doesn't take tech damage (also likely). Probably just bad.

What he meant is that in last days there were a lot of DoF (and honestly most of em weren't DoF more like a character focus)
This game has now DoF on its own so its all self made screens.

Refine Edge is your friend~

TBH, many of yours are the exceptions to the "most". I never said DoF was a one-button easy filter (neither are drop shadows, really) but still, there's been a lot of bad copycat attempts and it was nice seeing something that was different. Doesn't really change my opinion that it's suddenly a "thing" here. I prefer good comp and color depth over blurs.

that goes by optical illusion since it makes you think character doesnt wear a bikini. Looks very cool.

She has a very cold and distant personality. She doesn't care about your feelings, and she doesn't care about hers either. So often others find her to be very rude, even if she doesn't mean to be, but either way she doesn't care what you think about her.
She is a very logical thinker and a tactician. She always behaves professional and takes her missions she is assigned to very serious, therefor she thinks emotions just hinder her in finishing her missions and duties. But like said, she doesn't mean to be evil or anything, that is just the way she is. I am pretty sure, somewhere (or at least when hell freezes over) she at least likes her teammates.

I see the blush as make up, not as blush as in blushing. I sometimes use it on chars because it gives some tone to their skin and for me makes the face feel less flat. However, having it on my char Elaine was an accident lol, I totally forgot to remove it.

Funny story behind getting the hanging fox ears...So I was grinding up money and eventualy put up my extra Orange bikini for 500k and it quickly sold, so when I went to check my sales i saw that it sold but the meseta wasn't in my inventory. So scratching my head I clicked the button at the bottom of the my sales page thinking is was a "return to previous page" button instead I got all the meseta from the my shop sales all 1.6 mill of it. *face palm* when I finally figured it out.

If you're truly in the mood for wearing glasses, I believe the second last pair (black-frame) of glasses looks best on your character. Though, you can always use the over-sized hipster glasses for a more comedic look. ;3

Thank you very much. I somewhat agree that the headphones are a bit bulky. I think they could do without being so thick on the pieces that arc over your head. Could be thinner. I still think they look cool, though.

Yeah, that took quite a while to do that, but I wanted to do it, as a kind of thank you to all contestants that participated on my event, I just hope everybody likes my opinion ^^;

I guess Olaf wanted to keep it fair, with him beeing contestant and judge people would most likely have been upset. Some could think he votes himself into the top 10.
But to please the community, next event I won't let him judge so you can vote on him! XD If its really what you want ;P

Because I feel that even if I did go far and make it to a final round, some of the people that don't particularly like me would just complain that it's a popularity contest, or I didn't deserve it, or whatever. Really, I don't think clothing is as much of a limitation as people make it out to be. You might all be wearing the same thing, but the look of the character can be completely different. Modifying the body allows you to make a more innocent or more mature character. Modifying the face allows you to get whatever expression you want. Eye and hair color help create themes for your character.

I was able to theme a whole bunch of things on my character before even getting to clothing. The black eyes and white skin make her look alien, while her expression makes her look approachable, in want of help. Overall giving the theme of curiosity; seeing something new, and wanting to know what it is. The long, blue hair gave a flowing image not unlike motion in water. And then there's her color scheme. White and black give the sense of the dancing sunlight and shadow you'd see under the waves, and an overall blue color finishes the underwater theme.
Then there was the body proportions. I made her tall and muscular to show she's strong, and contrast this with her vulnerable face. This mixes strength and delicacy. And as an added touch, which is unfortunately unshowable during the phashion thread, are autowords. She's subdued in her words, but always in command of a situation. Even in combat she's polite, down to apologizing when killed.

I thought of all this before even getting to the clothing, and was able to get everything I wanted in a character before I got an outfit which accentuated her aquatic themes.


I think the winner of the phasion contest showed off this creativity well. She was limited to the same outfits as everyone else, but still managed to create a character not only completely unique from anyone else on the list, but still very striking to the eye. I think if you can't make something creative with the tools you've already got, then you just aren't using the tools to their fullest.

This is my argument against lolis, actually. It's not that a little girl is unattractive, it's just that I see it alot. If you give me a body proportion that I've seen often, then I want to see something else striking on the character. And I don't get that often. In fact, the faces and the hairs tend to be typical among little girl characters, making them blend together even more. After that, the only variation I can be given is hair color and surprise! clothing. Hair color tends to be "bright *something*", so that just leaves clothing. And, well, we're limited on that.
Overall, all I get is "this character is cute and bright", which gets old after a while. So, if making a little girl, give me something new. Do that right, and I'll love you.

Also, little girl characters in bikinis make me look around for FBI agents. Please stop putting them in bikinis. I'm paranoid enough without the threat of interrogation.

You just missed a Phantasy Star Fashion Contest. A, Phashion contest, if you will. All threads dedicated to it are now closed, since it's over. So, we're talking about it here, instead. It was neat seeing which character the community thought was the prettiest, but mostly it was great seeing everyone's characters at their best.

If you want to show off your creation, please do. We love seeing new characters, and I in particular love seeing new creativity. Just keep in mind, we kind of have three threads going right now. This thread is specifically to show off new Phashion trends, things having to do with updating your character's look. There's a logbook you can find in my signature where you post an introductory post about your character. Then there's the picture thread, which has more general pictures.

I can't really help the whole 'boobie shot' thing. There's no way I can hide them. :cry:

There's a difference between posting a picture that has boobies, and showing a picture because of the boobies. I'm sure we're all fine with the former, but the latter can get annoying. Especially because of the jp image uploader having nothing but that (they still have nothing but that, right?). You should be able to figure out which is which, and post accordingly.

Here comes my first post on this topic, whoo.
I was one of the contestants and here is what Tenebris had to say about my char :

A nice design, you don’t see these colors that often but I think they fit her. What they also do is to make her eyes seem more intense. A fascinating design.

This is my force setup, which has changed since the release of the Wasp set, switched out the basic force legs for the wasp legs (it doesn't change much, actually, but at least it feels more like I an properly walk with those).
I also took screens of my hunter and ranger setups (and sent them), though the quality of those pics is... Not as good, I botched the hunter screen completely and my attempt at a dynamic screen with ranger feels static. Oh well!

To go back on what Tenebris said : well it's pretty much spot on. For the same reason I agree with what Zorafim said : you can do a lot with just the face. Even on my failed hunter screen, the eyes manage to stand out (less so on my ranger screen, for obvious reasons).
Some more details about my character's appearance :
The basic idea was "armored doll", ie a pretty face that still look tough. The idea remained mostly on the ranger setup, which looks the more soldier-ish of the lot. The force setup also has a tougher, more serious look. The hunter setup changed a lot since the beginning, where it looked pretty basic. The only parts who's been there since the beginning are the leg parts, and the overall style shifted more to a "free style asskicking" kind of thing.
Now onto the colors :
I admit, part of the reason for the orange was to have a color not commonly seen (I was kind of sad when I saw that someone here also uses the color), but eventually, it's my liking for more pastel colors that won. I like it when the colors blend well and flow well together. I also hate any main black combo because of frickin' black everywhere. Ok it looks good but eventually you're sick of it.
Now my sub color is grey and my tech lines are black, to go for a more serious look. The grey contrast with the orange while not clashing with it, and the black is discret, blending in naturally.
You may also have remarked that my character is blond (surprise). Why blond and not anything more fancy? Well, just for that, because it remains simple, the haircut itself also being simple. If I had a screen close to her face, you could see that her eveybrows follows the way hair hangs on her forehead. I didn't add any fancy ears for, you guessed it, simplicity. I found my attempts at adding those pretty meaningless because they just disastified me, they were just... There. And eventually, her pale skin, blond hair and subdued color scheme makes her eyes stand out with a vivid green : in that serious looking caseal, there is life and personality (I'm a roleplayer by the way, too bad no one cares about PSO2 RPing on ship 2).

Didn't actually like the Salvadore Rod when I first saw it, but it kinda grew on me after getting a nice combination of units that had complementary colours. Now I really wish I could drop two techs on the rod in exchange for Just Guarding... ^_^'

Finally changed my Phashion up a bit. So I get an excuse to post here!

I changed up my head accessories for Techer, along with my usual outfit. I think this gives a good battle mage type look.

I couldn't stand my usual outfits for gunner, so I'm going to experiment with outfits until I find one that fits. Here's my first try.

I might try to go for a more action star kind of look, to compliment the rediculousness of the class' look. Corset and highheels, perhaps? Problem is that this is directly opposite of Levia's usual look, so it'll be tough to find something that fits both the class and the character concept.
