if i get a spirit garment and a CHUCHU (mag) and put them together, would i get to keep the CHUCHU mag and use him? my guess is no but i am just checking

No, you don't get to keep the MAG.

And the Heart of Chu-Chu MAG Cell is randomly acquired from a Jack-O'-Lantern.
