Transfer Saves?

Hi guys I pulled out my gamecube the other day and I have phantasy star online I and II, but recently i noticed they made a "plus" version. It sounds pretty cool but I was wondering if I could transfer my character between the two games. Is that possible? and if not is there really any reason to get plus? Is it that much better?

The games are the same in all respects with the addition of some originally online missions added on. Your characters will still be there and can be used across both versions of the game.
