View Full Version : Guide Massive Mag Guide and Info!

Ok so decided to make a massive mag guide using most of the mag data I could find. Most of this data comes from the Japanese wiki, so here are my findings. (Note this is a very rugged guide from the Japanese wiki, its not 100% and is only here to give some idea on mags besides how to get one, oh and because I wanted to contribute something ^^)

To get a mag check here http://bumped.org/psublog/pso2-open-beta-intro-to-mags/

There are 4 types of mags at the 2nd stage (lvl 30 evolve occurs).

1.http://pso2.swiki.jp/index.php?plugin=ref&page=%E3%83%9E%E3%82%B0%E4%B8%80%E8%A6%A7&src=rira.gif Striking/Blow Mag (evolved from hit/striking support or striking defense stat) Gives character more sword damage
2.http://pso2.swiki.jp/index.php?plugin=ref&page=%E3%83%9E%E3%82%B0%E4%B8%80%E8%A6%A7&src=fornaxs.gif Shooting Mag (evolved from shooting support or shooting defense stat) Gives character more shooting damage
3.http://pso2.swiki.jp/index.php?plugin=ref&page=%E3%83%9E%E3%82%B0%E4%B8%80%E8%A6%A7&src=repus.gif Force Mag (evolved from force support or force defense stat) Gives character more force damage
4.http://pso2.swiki.jp/index.php?plugin=ref&page=%E3%83%9E%E3%82%B0%E4%B8%80%E8%A6%A7&src=%E3%82%A2%E3%83%B3%E3%83%88%E3%83%AA%E3%82%A2. PNG Ability/Skill Mag (evolved from skill stat) Gives character more critical and maxium/minimum damage

Now from what I have gathered giving particular equipment/items raises particular stats. And depending on what stat(s) are highest at lvl 30 depends on what 2nd stage mag you get. Depending on what mag you want you should feed it appropriately.

Equipment fed to mag info:

1. Sword Equips = raises striking and skill stats
2. Gun Equips = raises shooting and skill stats
3. Force Equips = raises force and skill stats
4. Armors = 3 different kinds of armor to feed, each give different stats

To further elaborate on feeding mag Armors:

Feed mag Rear Armor = Force Defense and skill stat gain
Feed mag Arm Armor = Shooting Defense and skills stat gain
Feed mag Leg Armor = Striking Defense and skills stat gain

Now lets move onto items and how they increase mag stats:

Monomate = Blow Blow (Strike?) and Defense UP, skill down
Diamate = Shooting and shooting defense UP, skill down
Trimate = Act to shoot (Force?) attack defense UP, skill down
Sol Atomizer = Attack Method UP, Skill Down
Star Atomizer = Striking, Shooting, Force up equally
Moon Atomizer = Striking defense, shooting defense, force defense up equally
Cosmo Atomizer = Hammer blow, legal defense raise evenly, shooting defense up

Now ill move onto Disks (note disk are numbered on the wiki im guessing the number relates to rarity, aka amount of stars the item has):

Disk 1 = Workmanship rises regardless of type and level
Disk 2-5 = Only skill goes up

You can feed your mag My Room Items too:

Room Item = Shooting Up, ability down

Food Devices (AC scratch):

Hood Blow Device = Blow (striking?) support improved significantly
Hood Shooting Device = Fire (shooting?) support improved significantly
Food Law/force? Device = Law/force support improved significantly
Blow Defense Device = Blow (striking?) Defense improved significantly
Shooting Defense Device = Shooting Defense improved significantly
Law/Force? Defense Device = Law/Force Defense improved significantly

Food Point Reductions:
Thanks to RocSage for this section!

As mags level the points they gain from foods is reduced based on their levels.

Level 1-9 = points gained from food divided by 1
Level 10-19 = points gained from food divided by 2
Level 20-29 = points gained from food divided by 3

Food Point Quality from Items:
Thanks to RocSage for this section!

Each item you feed a mag has a value of points it adds. Rare items add more points and so do devices. The rarer the item (more stars it has) the more points it adds.

For example a device has 1000 Food Points.
Each level of a stat need 100 Food Points
Thus 1000 Food Points = 10 stat levels

Mag Auto Actions:

1. Striking Mag Auto Action = Strikes foe knocking them down
2. Shooting Mag Auto Action = Shoots foe with fire/ice bullet
3. Force Mag Auto Action = Foie?
4. Ability/Skill Mag? Auto Action = Fire/Thunder bullet

Mag Abilities:

1. Recovery system device / HP production = System to produce items such as Monomate consumption in a period of time.
2. A resurrection device / support = To provide support when player dies, resurrection. Trigger is very rare.
3. A recovery device / HP support = Provide support with recovery/heal when masters hp is low. Trigger percentage is high, the amount of recovery is low.
4. A device state abnormality / support = Recovery support when in an abnormal state. Trigger percentage is low, and interval is short.

Photon Blasts:

Each mag has a particular PB and there is 3 varieties of their particular PB (Brogile/Imera/Nifuta). Each variety doing different attacks and having different animations and possibly status effects. I have also included pictures of each beast from the wiki in spoilers tags.

Photon Blast Chaining:

It is possible to chain photon blasts for more damage and effects. To do so have the photon blast charged and when you are ready to activate it let your party members know so they can also activate and chain theirs. To activate the chaining process press and HOLD the button you have assigned on your quick bar for your photon blast until circles appear around you and your party members. You can hold the button for 10 secs until it automatically activates. Make sure the circles are overlapping each other. See images below.

Chaining started, circles growing larger and larger while holding down the button.

2. Food workmanship device = Support capabilities and skills can be improved significantly.
3. Blow food defense device = Defense support capabilities blow/Strike is remarkably improved.
4. Hood fire protection device = Defense fire/shooting? support capability can be improved significantly.
5. Food device attack defense law = Support capacity 撃防 law/force? is remarkably improved.
6. Extended device support frame mag = Device can be extended to one frame of the trigger action of the mag. Up to +3

As a final note mags evolve again at level 100. Info on them is in a link below.

Sweet! Thanks for putting this up, I can't wait until full evolve tables are available. >< Unfortunately I'm kind of picky about how my mag looks like, and I'll probably have to starve mine to death until a database is available. Beauty is pain right? lol

Great stuff though!

just pointing out that i did look into mag feeding a little... as you gain levels the speed at which you gain levels is reduced. this reduction is

pts from food divided by...

1-9 = 1
10-19 = 2
20-29 = 3

Above that I don't know but I would bet it continues on so that when the level of the stat of a mag hits, say, 90, and the food you are feeding it gives 1000 at lvl 1 that it will give 100 pts at the lvl 90 mark.

I think we should call the points "Food Points" and base it on their base value.

For example a device has 1000 Food Points.
Each level of a stat need 100 Food Points
Thus 1000 Food Points = 10 stat levels

The stat the mag increases is the skill stat when equipped (im guessing this affects critical % and max/min damage from what I read, a ranged mag would increase ranged damage and ranged damage defense if you have those stats on your mag). Also it looks different and has different photon blasts as seen in the guide. Ive taken out the surname Defense from the skill mag and added ability instead, (ex. Ability/Skill mag).

The shooting mag or the skill/ability mag? (for rangers that is >w<)

Also the wiki said something about mags being free up to 2 then you have to pay for another (no idea if this is true but from what others said you only get 1 free mag from the quest).
This is what I'm curious about the most. I was thinking of possibly just remaking tons of characters to lv5 and get a few extra mags for variety.

From the info I have read over these forums and found on other sites, the skill/ability mag would be really good for multi-class players. If you plan to just stick to 1 class you should get the corresponding mag. (Ex. You are ranger class forever, get the Shooting mag, If you mutli-class get the skill/ability mag). Class corresponding mags give you bonuses based on their requirements (ex. Shooting mag can give you stat bonuses of ranged damage and ranged damage defense, or ranged damage and ability stats). The skill/ability mag is one stat mainly and people say that stat effect min/max dmg and crit %.

Yes, but I hear you can delete your only character and get another free one. Obviously mag farming will be a bit annoying at lv5 grinding but if it can be done, then there's some use for it.

Mags are not even considered an item in this game, they take up no space in your inventory, they have their own section in the menu so you can't deposit mags into your bank to get more then delete a character and repeat... sucks I know ^^;

Raising a mag that is high lvl in one stat will be incredibly hard if the pattern i pointed out is right.

Device = 1000 pts
1 device takes you to lvl 10
2 devices from there takes you to lvl 20
3 devices from there takes you to lvl 30
4 devices from there takes you to lvl 40
5 devices from there takes you to lvl 50
6 devices from there takes you to lvl 60
7 devices from there takes you to lvl 70
8 devices from there takes you to lvl 80
9 devices from there takes you to lvl 90
10 devices from there takes you to lvl 100
11 devices from there takes you to lvl 110
12 devices from there takes you to lvl 120
13 devices from there takes you to lvl 130
14 devices from there takes you to lvl 140
15 devices from there takes you to lvl 150
16 devices from there takes you to lvl 160
17 devices from there takes you to lvl 170
18 devices from there takes you to lvl 180
19 devices from there takes you to lvl 190
20 devices from there takes you to lvl 200

That 210 devices to get to max level and that is the most potent food device we know of currently

From what I've read in the Japanese wiki and on the pso2 player's guide, it's supposed to influence all damage, and if it's not affecting something then it was probably bugged in the previous tests.

Nice work, Lumir!

I'm still not clear on how beneficial the ability stat is (+crit% is always nice, though), and who knows which of the defense stats will be most needed later on in the game.

I guess focusing on class-specific damage is the safest best for me, right now.

That probably is the case, only time will tell. This is a rough guide from multiple sources. But if it influences all damage sources why even bother with the other mag types?

I think it has to do with the wording of the Ability stat. I asked on the beta board some time ago and even then they weren't too sure, but from what I gathered it's either critical damage (which doesn't seem likely from its description), or it ensures you un-resisted damage if that makes sense.

It sounds funny translating it into English, but it pretty much said the higher your ability stat is in comparison to your opponent, the higher the expected value (average) damage you do.

So if your damage could vary, for example, between 120 and 180, the higher your ability, the higher your average damage is. I'm assuming this means you'll hit more consistently toward 180.

In short (this is just a theory, but I'll ask my Japanese friends on skype and see what they think)

Ability mag - improves consistency of damage
Pure X stat mag - improves potential damage

------------

I also have a question since this is turning into a go-to spot for mag questions. I've looked around on all the JP wiki's and anywhere else I can, but I have yet to find information on how to acquire the additional photon blasts that are available to each mag. Has anyone gotten wind of this yet?

Spellbinder, if that's the case it sounds like ability would be an extremely useful stat for tougher/longer fights. I'm curious to know how well the leftover stat points (after the opponent check) would affect your average damage.

Spellbinder
Jun 22, 2012, 06:05 AM
Talked with my friends about it on Skype. They hadn't actually seen the stat description and they also found it a little vague. However, they also thought the increased average damage idea is plausible.

Sol Atomizers work too, but discs are better. Unfortunately, it looks like ability is the most expensive to raise, as room items don't give any now, and discs are far less common than weapons or armor.

I have a question. It looks like the Photon Blasts have different versions or variations to them (the Brogile, Nifuta, and Imera things). Are PB's restricted to one of those 3 attack styles? If so, do we have some input in how we attain those attacks?

This is what I want to know.

Ok so I was thinking that i got it sorta backwards.

Stat level has more points to fill rather than there being a modifier so he easiest thing to do is say

0->1 = 100pts needed for next level
1->2 = 100pts needed for next level
2->3 = 100pts needed for next level
3->4 = 100pts needed for next level
4->5 = 100pts needed for next level
5->6 = 100pts needed for next level
6->7 = 100pts needed for next level
7->8 = 100pts needed for next level
8->9 = 100pts needed for next level
9->10 = 100pts needed for next level
10->11 = 200pts needed for next level
etc so that it resembles the divide by that i said earlier

0-9 = 100 points/level for a total of 1000 points
10-19 = 200 points/level for a total of 2000 points
20-29 = 300 pointts/level for a total of 3000 points
Continuing on 190-199? would take 2000 points per level or 20,000 in total

further each items has a number of points associated it's "type" and each star level has an increased amount of points that gives.

This simplifies the math and a lot easier to figure out the values of the various items. The problem then is trying to measure how many points each one gives. I assume it is possible by taking a screen capture and dividing the space into 100 units or getting it so you use one item till you hit the level perfectly and then divide based total points to get to that level by the amount it took.

btw... with this system, devices would have 1000 points (ie takes you to lvl 10 exactly). Thus the second 1 you use takes you to lvl 15.5 because it takes 2000 points, lvl 15 with 100 points in the stat level thingy and 100 more to get.

Since I haven't messed with mags much, I'm curious to know about this.

I've been eyeballing the JP Wiki for days now waiting for this same sort of info, having refrained from feeding my Mag anything yet. Haven't seen any update in a while, so I wonder if either the Mag levels are capped or the new feeding system is slow enough that there hasn't been enough passage of time for players to raise their Mags to that stage.

...or maybe they're just too busy having fun to update the wiki.

you can't get the 3rd evolution until you hit level 100 with your mag, the cap is currently level 99 for mags ^^;

Hmm, we need to figure out the correlation between mag stats and stats you gain.

I'll start with ability - it's 1:1 based on my mag.

it is 1:1 for everything.

The important thing is to get the amount of point each food gives to you so people can plan mags well and what determines lvl 100 mag evolution, which we can't do right now.

Also I haven't seen it written anywhere but if you evolve a mag, by changing its primary stat, i think it's the same as PSO where it evolves again and you get another Photon Blast, making you have 2. Those of you that were mag breeders in PSO will know that this is a important thing as some people like having specific Photon Blasts on their Mag while maintaining the best stats they'd want and get the right end look.

I'd suggest someone get to work on a mag feeding app as that will be extremely useful as well as guides to how to build a Force Mag that has a Striking Mag Photon Blast and the like.

Been going for pure SATK. I've got two options:

1) Keep Ability at 0, at the cost of having to level other stats
or
2) Just let Ability raise as well

Rear armor units (which also increase ability) or 3* room decorations, from the look of it.

Doesn't skill just raise critical hit percentage? You'd need a large raw damage base in order to deal high crits anyway.

So I just happened to be taking some pictures yesterday and took some pics of a mag that proves what i was saying...

http://crushing-utopia.com/PSO2/1star1.jpg
http://crushing-utopia.com/PSO2/1star2.jpg
http://crushing-utopia.com/PSO2/2star.jpg
http://crushing-utopia.com/PSO2/4star.jpg

From these we can see with a little work that...
1* s = 20sp pts / 6.5abl pts (7?)
2* s = 30sp pts / 10abl pts
4* s = 50sp pts / 17abl pts

Now since I didn't have any other striking weapons on me at the time, and can't find a 3* weapon anyways, I couldn't measure those, but that doesn't really matter because those 3 give enough info to establish a pattern. And with that, here are the value for striking weapons and likely ranged and force weapons too.

1* = 20primary pts / 6.5abl pts (7?)
2* = 30p pts / 10abl pts
3* = 40p pts / 13.5abl pts (14?)
4* = 50p pts / 17abl pts
5* = 60p pts / 20.5abl pts (21?)
6* = 70p pts / 24abl pts

7* and above can't be fed to your mag.

Also, in case i wasn't clear how the stars are before. As each individual mag stat goes up the points to raise that mag stat goes up so it is easier to raise a diversified mag than it is to raise a pure mag.

Someone just trying to raise their mag up to max level can do so easily by simply raising all 7 stats to 10, and then 3 of those to 10 (or 2 to 10 and 1 to 9 since it's 99, not 100) which results in spending only 12,900 points.

A pure mag needs 54,000 points, and you have to watch how you need to feed it negative points which takes a lot more time and attention.

If for some reason some doesn't understand what level requires how many points, i typed it all out, with totals of that tier of levels and total of all tiers. so her you go.

Not in a direct manner. Ability seems to lower your damage range. For example with a high Ability, instead of doing anywhere from 100 - 200 damage, you instead do 150 - 200 damage. So it is an overall damage increase.

-3 ranged -3 ability +2 ranged def
-3 force -3 ability +2 force def
+2 striking -3 ability
+2 ranged -3 ability <-- so far i know ,flowers decoration that drops in mission
+2 Force -3 ability

Room item effect only differ by star number. Doesn't matter what type of item it is.

2* = Range Attack -3/Ability -3/Range Defense +2
3* = Force Attack -3/Ability -3/Force Defense +2
4* = Melee Attack +2/Ability -3
5* = Range Attack +2/Ability -3
6* = Force Attack +2/Ability -3
