Here's a letter written to the London Observer from Terry Jones, of Monty Python fame... Enjoy!

"Letter to the London Observer, from Terry Jones (Monty Python)
by Terry Jones ? Sunday February 23, 2003 at 03:06 PM

Monty Python's Terry Jone's letter re: the war in Iraq

Sunday January 26, 2003

I'm really excited by George Bush's latest reason for bombing Iraq: he's running out of patience. And so am I!

For some time now I've been really pissed off with Mr Johnson, who lives a couple of doors down the street. Well, him and Mr Patel, who runs the health food shop. They both give me queer looks, and I'm sure Mr Johnson is planning something nasty for me, but so far I haven't been able to discover what.
I've been round to his place a few times to see what he's up to, but he's got everything well hidden. That's how devious he is. As for Mr Patel, don't ask me how I know, I just know - from very good sources - that he is, in reality, a Mass Murderer. I have leafleted the street telling them that if we don't act first, he'll pick us off one by one.

Some of my neighbours say, if I've got proof, why don't I go to the police? But that's simply ridiculous. The police will say that they need evidence of a crime with which to charge my neighbours. They'll come up with endless red tape and quibbling about the rights and wrongs of a pre-emptive strike and all the while Mr Johnson will be finalising his plans to do terrible things to me, while Mr Patel will be secretly murdering people. Since I'm the only one in the street with a decent range of automatic firearms, I reckon it's up to me to keep the peace. But until recently that's been a little difficult.

Now, however, George W. Bush has made it clear that all I need to do is run out of patience, and then I can wade in and do whatever I want! And let's face it, Mr Bush's carefully thought-out policy towards Iraq is the only way to bring about international peace and security. The one certain way to stop Muslim fundamentalist suicide bombers targeting the US or the UK is to bomb a few Muslim countries that have never threatened us. That's why I want to blow up Mr Johnson's garage and kill his wife and children.

Strike first! That'll teach him a lesson. Then he'll leave us in peace and stop peering at me in that totally unacceptable way.

Mr Bush makes it clear that all he needs to know before bombing Iraq is that Saddam is a really nasty man and that he has weapons of mass destruction - even if no one can find them. I'm certain I've just as much justification for killing Mr Johnson's wife and children as Mr Bush has for bombing Iraq. Mr Bush's long-term aim is to make the world a safer place by eliminating 'rogue states' and 'terrorism'. It's such a clever long-term aim because how can you ever know when you've achieved it? How will Mr Bush know when he's wiped out all terrorists? When every single terrorist is dead? But then a terrorist is only a terrorist once he's committed an act of terror.

What about would-be terrorists? These are the ones you really want to eliminate, since most of the known terrorists, being suicide bombers, have already eliminated themselves. Perhaps Mr Bush needs to wipe out everyone who could possibly be a future terrorist?

Maybe he can't be sure he's achieved his objective until every Muslim fundamentalist is dead? But then some moderate Muslims might convert to fundamentalism. Maybe the only really safe thing to do would be for Mr Bush to eliminate all Muslims? It's the same in my street. Mr Johnson and Mr Patel are just the tip of the iceberg. There are dozens of other people in the street who I don't like and who - quite frankly - look at me in odd ways. No one will be really safe until I've wiped them all out. My wife says I might be going too far but I tell her I'm simply using the same logic as the President of the United States. That shuts her up. Like Mr Bush, I've run out of patience, and if that's a good enough reason for the President, it's good enough for me. I'm going to give the whole street two weeks - no, 10 days - to come out in the open and hand over all aliens and interplanetary hijackers, galactic outlaws and interstellar terrorist masterminds, and if they don't hand them over nicely and say 'Thank you', I'm going to bomb the entire street to kingdom come. It's just as sane as what George W. Bush is proposing - and, in contrast to what he's intending, my policy will destroy only one street.

Terry Jones"

Anyway... Search the net for pictures of Bush, and in like 90% of them, he has his mouth open!

I think it's just a media fad to take pictures of politicians with their mouths open. I think they do it because (most of the time) it looks like they're getting something done when they have their mouths open.

However, Bush just looks like a monkey to most people.

You want to talk about irony? Allow me to rub some irony in your face.

The second you start revealing yourself to be an intelligent person is the second you can start calling Americans 'stoopid.' But until then, kindly keep your mouth shut and your fingers under your ass. Allow me to elaborate.

First, I'd start by commenting on your horrendous grammar -- but I know a few mildly intelligent persons who use 'u' instead of 'you' and such shortcuts. I'm not about to assume that your laziness implies a lack of intelligence.

You seem to be good at flinging terms out; the question remains on whether you understand just what the hell you're talking about. I'm sure you -meant- to say that 'IQ' is an acronymn, but you probably pronounce it the way you spelled it up there and hardly understand what it means. In fact, you apparently don't even know what 'IQ' stands for -- it is, in fact, an acronymn for 'Intelligence Quotient' -- which, originally, was defined as the ratio of mental age (ma) to chronological age (ca) multiplied by 100 (which eliminates the decimal point). Of course, using a true IQ test is just silly once you become an adult (a 40-year-old who does as well as a 20-year-old, when they are equally intelligent, would receive a much lower score). This is why most current intelligence tests produce a mental ability score based on the test-taker's performance in comparison to those of others the same age. 'IQ' is still an idea that hangs around, but it's incorrectly used. Besides, the IQ test was invented to -predict- academic performance, not to judge how intelligent someone is.

And you accuse US of saying it a lot and not bothering to learn what it means? Irony abounds.

I don't ask for a president who is 'UBER' intelligent -- I ask for one who can tell the difference between 'him or her' and 'he or she' and can use it properly ('If you teach a child to read, he or her will be able to pass a literacy test', says Mr. Bush). The intelligence shown when speaking to the American people is a good reflection of the intelligence used in making important decisions. Luckily, many more people help the president make these important decisions than help him write his speeches.

Personally, I find it amusing to make jokes at the man's expense -- he'll never hear it, it won't bother him, and he provides lots of ammunition. But I simply can't stand it when someone tries to act like they're so much more intelligent than everyone else and throw around terms they don't even understand, then accuses others of not understanding it (hypocracy -- or is that word too big for you?). I hate it even more when they're merely fooling themselves, as you seem to be doing.

My apologies to anyone I might have offended, aside from this fellow.

First of all, surely some as intelligent as you can say something more than fuck. Also it may help if you learn the concepts of punctuation and capitalization.

if this man is so stupid, as u all seem to rant on about- what the fukk does that say about the intelligence of the ppl who, firstly, vote him into power (thats how DEMOCRACY WORKS, dont spring no "butterfly" shit on me)

First of all I don't know where Morphos got the whole butterfly talk from. Also Gore did win the popular vote, but Bsuh won the elctoral vote and that's what counts. I don't think there should be an electoral college because it was formed when the writers of the constitution decided that the judgement of the people was not to be trusted.

and then u start rippin into HIS intelligence- thats so damm ironic and stoopid (yeah, the "oo" is intentional). besides, who the fukk says a leader has to be UBER intelligent anyway- who gives a flyin fukk what his intelligence quota is (thats better known as the anacranim "I.Q" for any1 out there who says it alot but dont even fukkin bother to learn its meanin) if he can lead well.

First of all Nites, the creater of this thread, is Canadian. Also Bush is not a good president; he lost our multi-billion dollar surplus. To make matters worse he announced of public TV right after the election that consumer confidence was down and that only made it worse. Also, Bushes tax plan sucks cutting taxes does nothing but raise interest rates. The only thing I support Bush in is the war with Iraq.

im not sayin he is a good or bad leader, i dont give a rats ass- its just uber high intelligence aint really a must have im sure.

High intelligence isn't required, but you shouldn't be a totally stupid. I Don't think Bush is stupid, but presidency is not his strong point.

And yes he does some stupid stuff and makes stupid faces sometimes but so does everybody, they just aren't the freakin President, so their pictures don't make the front page news. And as for him doing stupid stuff, so does everybody else, but the same goes as for the faces, normal people's actions just don't get put on tv or the internet. So why don't you just stop bagging on Bush. Oh and by the way all you Clinton supporters, HE WAS THE ONE WHO GAVE NORTH KOREA THE STUFF TO MAKE THE FREAKIN NUCLEAR WEAPONS!! BULL SHIT- fukk u and ur formalities you fukkin tosh. dont give me that high and mighty shit because i cant be botherd to type all formally on a fukkin GAMES FORUM and because u read too friggin much into what i type cause u just like all the other ignorant fukkin munchkins out there. and i didnt once say i am intelligent, and how fukkin stoopid of u to think im so fukkin pathetic i want some fukker on a forum to think of me as intelligent, u fukkin munchkins are so narrowminded. and yeah nites, i dont normally type like this, its just a phase- i vary how i type. in this case im gettin straight to the fukkin point. and if u americans dont like the way ur countries run- dont u think u should fukkin do somethin about it rather than WHINNING like spoiled lil brats on a forum. i mean hell, plenty of ppl are born into much shitier circumstances than u ignorant munchkins- but all u can do to show ur lack of gratitude is fukkin whinne- simply PATHETIC. and dont bother pickin out grammatical errors and shit u high and mighty fukkwit- cause i dont give 2 shits about anythin an ignorant munchkin has to say. and thats fukkin that. and u better fukkin believe i mean to offend, not that any1 of u shits will listen. oh and juliet, im sure u will have a fukkin blast doin some background readin for ur OH SO TOPICAL AND POLITICALLY CORRECT reply- LOL fukk u.
