Application Error when at character gen

Greetings!

I installed the game Thursday, updated Friday, then again this morning (because I saw that there was maintenance) and went to play this morning. When I got to the character creation screen, I got the following error:

The instruction at 0x00edccf0 referenced memory 0x00000078. The memory could not be read.
Click OK to terminate the program.

Just FYI, this laptop has TurionX2 Dual Core 2.10GHz, 4GB RAM, 64bit Windows 7, and ATI Radeon HD 3200.
I doubt my memory is really the problem, because my laptop has 4GB when the game only requires 2GB...

How can I fix this problem?

Three days later and zero responses... not very promising.

In the time I've been waiting so far I have deleted everything and re-downloaded the installer, re-installed the game, re-downloaded the patches, and tried again, and I get the same error.

Can someone please help me figure out what to do? I'd like to play this game!
