hey, sorry to bring up 2-year old threads, but.. i just bought a psp, and pspo2, and am loving it. haven't played online yet. (cant say i want to as i have no way to type).

can anyone recommend some custom firmware? are the ones in this thread still good, or is there new stuff that's better?

I use 6.60 Pro-B10 and haven't had any problems with it (although I can't get the SGDeemer plugin to work with it on my PSP1000). The best thing about it it that you can hold the Home button when starting the system up and it'll boot into official firmware should you need to use that for buying things off PSN or starting up any picky games. Before that, I used 5.50 GEN-D3 and that was fine too. As for playing online, press Select twice in-game to bring up the software keyboard. That's what most people use.
