Error 103 is just the simple update failed. Just keep trying and eventually it will finish.

Listen to Ana-Chan advice.

Do nothing.

It may only be a bad connection during your update.

Word of advice from me.
Don't put in any files or folder from anyboby's, "Other then SEGA Japan DIRECT".

What is the supposed reason for this? Curious as to what you it is going to do.

as in it resolved some peoples issues. because gameguard wasnt updating properly...

"deleting the folder to get it replaced by updater wasn't working either."

So it is just a clean copy of gameguard files?

This is commonly caused by using Win7 (especially the 64-bit version of it) because it restricts lots of stuff by default.
Go into your install directory for PSO2 (under Program Files x86 if you're using the 64-bit OS) and right click the SEGA folder (again assuming default install directory) and go to properties. Click on the Security Tab and make sure you edit it to give full access/permissions for everything (check all the boxes under 'allow' for each user). Then do this for every game you have installed. Zero issues with GG or anything else.

Please trust me when I say DO NOT DISABLE UAC in Win7. It saved my ass from a malicious web-based attack through both Java and Flash during that zero-day vulnerability a short while ago. Bunch of UAC prompts, clicked No on all of them (several times) and then it stopped. I shut down, booted a PE (preinstall environment) emergency disk, ran antivirus and every scan I could.
All clean, thank god for UAC. Don't disable it!

Except that PSO2 automagically elevates, so the updater and the launcher will have full Administrator rights when running. That is why you are always asked if you want to run the game when you double click on the icon when UAC is active on the system. This means the user account/group that you would be looking for is the Administrators group, and that is given read, write and execute privileges by default for all files and directories on a hard disk because of inheritable permissions. So unless the end user has gone in and modified the permissions on the PSO2 directory or one of the parent directories and taken away writing rights for Administrators, then administrators will have no problems updating PSO2.

Error 103 is the error given when the updater fails to update the client, and if you look at the blue bar, then you should notice that it downloaded files already. So it isn't access rights. (Administrators can always override and update anyway). The WinHTTP error given 12002 is the operation time out error. This means that the game client has sent a HTTP request to the server and the server just didn't respond in a timely manner. This means that either the server was bogged down, or the IP packet was lost somewhere during transit and so the server never got it. This problem isn't GG or access rights, it is just the updater not getting a response over the network in time.

I normally got that error if I lost internet, I would just cancel and restart the update and it finished the update.

Nothing to do with Win7 64. 80%+ people's globe are running it.

Game guard, with the game file update, may be. Not the game patch. 2 different things.

1: For those of you are running SSD or have had your 'Page File' set to custom, not manage by windows.
You will highly likely to have that problem.

2: When you update the game file. It likes to be 1 continues file.
Meaning whatever you have in your background running, it will interrupted. Cursing it to be time out.
Yes, what you have running in the background is for you to know and who to find out.

Whatever are chasing it. It is not at SEGA end. Most of it anyway.

Good luck
