When in the ultimate forest and with a devil/battle equipped and using a partisan type weapon you can light light hard hold down and avoid the swing of the bartle or barble. I'm pretty sure it's just that you recover fast enough and abuse the shorter animation cycles, but either way hope it helps, and hopefully it ain't a cheat.
