Hi, I got PSO2 to run 1 time then, thinking it worked correctly, quit to install the English patch. After quitting, my computer restarted and now my game won't start no matter how many times I re-install it. All I get is a blank screen with the game cursor then in about 2 minutes, my laptop restarts. Has this happened to anyone else or does anyone know how to fix this? I have an ASUS G75VW.

Are you using the sept 12 patch?

This happens without even having the English patch in. It keeps happening even if I uninstall and re-install the game.

Guess I have to wait for the English version since no one knows how to fix this issue :/

Well, depending on where you installed it from, it could result in you having corrupt files in the game directory.

To be honest, in this situation I would only recommend doing a file check and see if it downloads anything.

I downloaded it from the main site and how do I do a file check?

That button which says ファイルチェック.

I did that but got this

I don't know what it says.

It really just says "download has completed".

As a side note, it displays that if it found corrupt files and downloaded some new ones. If the file check had completed without it needing to download any new files, it would have displayed:

So does that mean it may work now or it is corrupted?

That means that it may work now.

The file check found corrupted files and has replaced them, so just give it a go.

Any way to fix this?

Could it be my anit-virus that is causing the problem. If so, what anti-virus is good but doesn't cause issues? I have Symantec Endpoint Protection.

Even though I haven't heard of people having problems with it, I wouldn't rule out any antivirus as a problem. But before you uninstall it, I would suggest you try disabling it, including the intrusion protection and any other protection it offers first. That may be enough. Of course, only keep this disabled for as long as you need to.

It may sound weird, but try doing another file check to see if you get any more files downloaded. If you get the same message as the screenshot that I posted earlier then that means that everything is fine, if you get another download has completed message then it means that you hit the jackpot and managed to download another corrupt file. The major problem with the updater is that it doesn't check to see if the file has downloaded correctly.

If disabling the AV doesn't work however, be very careful if you do uninstall it. Only keep it uninstalled for as long as you need to test PSO2. But I seriously suggest doing this after doing another file check on PSO2, and disabling the AV protection.

For antivirus programs that GG doesn't have issues with, well, I use Microsoft Security Essentials and it hasn't been having problems with that.

I give up. Now I'm back to the first image I posted even though I had 5 completed file checks. This is not worth exposing my computer over so I guess I'll have to wait the year and a half til the game comes out in US :/

some files included in the install package are not included in the patch check and one of those may have been corrupted from the beginning+^_^+
you can try re-downloading the installer from the official site http://download.pso2.jp/downloader.exe after uninstalling and deleting your C:\program files (x86)\SEGA folder (uninstall first as deleting the folder first without uninstall can cause registry issues)
it could also be that your one of those afflicted with the GameGuard error that doesn't let people play, if that's the case all you can do is what for GG to patch+^_^+

Try uninstalling your AV, deactivating it isn't enough, or at least it wasn't enough for me to stop that error.

I am not willing enough to uninstall my AV on my ASUS laptop. I do it with my crappy computers which I don't have on me :/
