New player

Hi everyone. I just started playing the game recently, so I'm currently looking for a group that's willing to show a new player the ropes. If there's anyone out there so inclined, let me know, please. It'd be greatly appreciated.

Also, from what I've gathered, lots of people play on ship 2; is that correct? And should i make a character on ship 2 at this point?
