I have heard that sometimes (1 of 100 moreless http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif), the memory card can have a file corruption, and the memory get cleared http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_frown.gif

is it true?, if yes, i'll use a memory59 por PSO, and weekly, i'll save a copy of the character and the conection info, etc.. in any other memory card http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_frown.gif

Yes it is true. To be able to back your character up you will need a USB backup device to do so. Also, you will lose all items off of your character if you use the back up online, due to timestamps.

what? but, if i'm playing, and when I exit, the memory get cleaned, if I had my character saved in any other memory card, only copying it to the memory I use to play, i wouldn't need to do that, not?..
And everything I saved in the bank, is still there?..

Hi Hi.

I have a Friend in the UK who is connecting via Freeserve, and gets to the lobby ok, but every time he goes into a game he gets the "One or more corrupted, all will be deleted" message, and his chars get nuked..

For him at least, it's a little more than 1:100!!!

Could this be as simple as having a crummy memory card?

I'll use an oficial memory card, i hope that using this, the rate is 1:100000 http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif (or less)

Oh - I forgot to add - He gets disconnected every time he enters a game from the lobby. And a message like "Files left open" or something like that.

Does the server attempt to write to the card when you start a game (to move equipment from the card to the server?)? If so, having a damaged Memory card could prevent a game starting..

Question is - Would this result in a disconnection?

I'm from the UK and use Freeserve and never have any problems with my connection.

If he's suffered corruption once or twice, then its near certain that its the memory card to blame. Tell him/her to buy an official 59.

As for Freeserve, he/she could try doing other stuff, maybe use an init string in the AT+T commands box, under Network Options which should make his connection more secure.

Also, make sure your friend uses the most local dial-up number availible to him. Just recently Freeserve scrapped a nationwide dial-up number and opted to release a good dozen, usually for different parts of the UK. He/she should visit the website, enter his/her details and will be given the best (fastest) one for the area. replace the old number with this new one.

I did all of this for a freind, and he now has no problems http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif

FSOD, in general, is unavoidable. Most of the time its just bad luck. You can only try and prevent it from happening.

-pso gamefiles are not copyable (except the snapshot file)

-officially an official nintendo memcard has the least chance to corrupt.

-about the timestamp:
keep in mind when around your chara corrupted (i mean the character's 'played hours'-counter), copy it back on the card (when its that usb-card) and play/idle offline until your new time is again higher than the one when you last where online. then the server shouldnt notice. good luck.
this way it was with the email-safetycopy-cheat with the dreamcast versions... on cube, this will only work with the usb-memcard or an equal device.

Yeah, i think it is...I've been able to dodge the corruption bullet so far *knock on wood*, I guess it's a random thing though. I HAVE FSODed...but only twice, and each time I didn't lose ANYTHING (that's right, not even meseta, and my unequips were still intact!) And I talked to someone else who had this happen to him too. I'm a lucky bastard *knock on wood once again*

I had the same problem with my Freeserve account. I could connect and chat for ages in the lobby but as soon as I created/joined a game, I was disconnected and the character was corrupted.

I can safely say that this IS down to a third party memory card. I bought an Official Nintendo one and have never had a problem since.

Hope this helps
