Hello there guys!
I need a lil' help with making my PSO2 work!
I've just downloaded and installed the game, but when i try to launch it i get this screen:

Then, a"pso2updater.exe random japanese words" screen.

And finally, the update bars seem to show up, but get stuck at this point (waited for 1h in the last try before these screenies.)

Searched the forums for possible fixes, tried RappyPerms for the permission issues, and patched pso2.exe files, and none of it seemed to work out for me.
Any advice?

Thanks in advance!

After quite a bunch of reinstalls and Win7 taming, i managed to run the launcher without the error message*, and the update runs "smoothly"... sorta...

The updater works fine, the download runs like it should but then, it keeps disconnecting. Googled it and found a whole lot of people with the same problem, and getting it to work after a considerable number of retrials - but that's quite some time, considering that this first update is 7gigs big. (What seems to be working so far, but i guess it'll take a few more days of stubborness towards it.)

I was wondering then if there is a way of manually patching the game (at least for this first one), so i can try using torrents or download managers to download it safely. (googled it too, but found nothing for this big first massive patch)

If anyone could share a light about this, i'd appreciate it, as well as a whole lot of people that gave up trying the normal way.

Again thanks in advance!

* Oh! And just so you know - Managed it by changing ownership of pso2updater.exe just after a fresh reinstall and before running any .exe - when i did the same after running the launcher, dunno why, but the ownership kept rolling back to just SYSTEM)

I kind of met the same problem today.
As I have played around with this game for a while, I just update the launcher as usual, but it froze at the downloading bar.

When I go and check the game folder, there is a file named pso2.exe.pat (it might be the temporary file of pso2.exe) which keeps updating but cannot finish the hashing - when it reach about 17M, it start over from zero again.

I tried fresh reinstall and run the game as administrator, there is still the same problem...

Anyone could help?

Patching/Updating Errors

Most, if not all, patching and updating errors can be solved by downloading the English Translation Launcher, created by funkyskunk. The download is here:

http://files-ds-scene.net/retrohead/pspo2se/

Extract it somewhere, run the PSO Translation Launcher.exe and select your PSO2 directory. It will then check for updates and ask if you'd like to update to the latest version of PSO2 from SEGA. Hit yes, and wait for the deliciously easy patching to finish.

THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!!! I Did it and work fine!!!!
