Question about mats

I've always been very paranoid about using items that permanently boost stats in games, and I'm worried that using mats may lower my stat growth a little. I have a feeling it's not the case, but I was hoping somebody could confirm that for me. Is it ok for me to use them as soon as I get them?

You can use em right when you get them; however it's best to plan out your mat consumption so you don't make too many mistakes in your character build.

On a related subject (just in case if you were going to ask)

HP and TP mats are counted separately from your regular stat mats (Pow/Def/Eva/Lck)

Things to keep in mind about materials.
1: Don't use Defense or Evade materials for any class.
2: Don't use Mind materials on Hunters/Rangers and power mats on Forces.
3: Use HP materials when you get them.
4: Try to save up luck, power, and mind materials to plan your stats and usage according to your class/equipment.
