I want to recreate that default outfit from pso2 but i'm not sure what materials would be best for it. I think getting the hat to match will be the hardest part :P.

The cheapest, easiest to get, and flexible is craft foam. It's much better cardboard. If you have more experience and money I would use plastic. For fabric I would use something thicker or put an interfacing inside. There is a fabric I am thinking of, but can't think of the name at the moment. Also will you be wearing it somewhere hot or cold? I suggest asking someone at the store for help when you are buying fabric.

Considering the con is always in june, and it will be packed, it will be warm to hot. So some breathing material will be nice. Getting the color i need and all the parts together will be a little bit of a pain but im hoping a year is long enough to get this project along and done :P.

:P although i will end up doing one slight modification for the hell of it. I will attempt to throw in a section id from the original pso on the outfit somewhere . Easiest way might be modifying a broken watch and replacing the bands with an extra long one to make a choker out of it unless i just try to embed it in part of the chest peice

My first choice would be cotton as long as it's well tailored. For something a bit heavier try Denim. I've seen lots of people pull off great armor like costumes with it. Pleather and matte vinyl would be pretty hot, though a better choice, I'd stay a way from it. Bottom weight broadcloth is cheap-ish and it also pretty good too.

I also think adding the ID to the hat might be easier lol, but that's just a suggestion.

Also I suggest checking out some tutorials and asking a Cosplay forum as they most likely will have better advice than me.

For the heftier pieces, like the light armor on the wrists and stuff, use Gym floor mat.

I used 3 different thicknesses of foam for my costume. For thick areas, I used the gym mats I got from target. For the other 2, I bought foam sheets from Joann's or Michael's. I'm still working on mine, but my progress so far. Make sure you have a heat gun and a hot knife for cutting. Good luck to ya!
