Can't advance through story text.

I downloaded the game and made it through registration and character creation fine, but when the first cutscene starts and the line of dialogue pops up where Alfin says "We're here of our own accord. They don't need to be so formal." I can't advance the dialogue any further than that. My mouse cursor continues to show up and flashes yellow when I click, but nothing else happens. I'm on windows 7 and using the english patch along with large files and the story patch if that makes a difference. Also, I have tried hitting every button on my keyboard but to no avail. My friend, who is also using the same files has had no issues so I'm not sure what could be wrong. Thank you for the help.
