I just learned that by standing in the middle of the firepath you dont get hit at all o.O just stand there with a red handgun 45% and all your indi belra problems will be solved! if you want to switch views.. cast jellen or zalure and adjust your view to the cast view so you can target X3

This 'exploit' still work on the gamecube. Run up to them while they're spawning in and stand still just before they shoot.

You can also move very slow if you just keep standing still right before they shoot. Takes a bit of timing.
