Help with 360 controller recognition

When I plug in my controller, my PC says "device installed and ready to use". However, the green light-ring around the guide button just continuously flashes at me and the game isnt recognizing it. Any advice?

Its been a long time since I configured my 360 controller to my PC but...

I have this installed on my PC, I was told you needed it to make the controller work properly. That was like 2 years ago but it works for me lol
