Friend's issue with downloader

Hi everyone. A friend of mine is having some issues with just getting the downloader started. He says whenever he attempts to start the downloading, he gets nothing but a white box. He doesn't even get to the installing part of the process.
I will post a picture of a screen he sent me of what it looks like. I've never heard or seen anything on this anywhere else so I'm hoping someone here will have an answer.
