Sigh...I'm in an RPGin' kinda mood. With both my PS2 and GCN, there are plenty of games open to me, but I've narrowed it between Zelda & Dark Cloud 2.

I haven't heard a bad thing about either from "professional" sources (magazines, places like GameSpot, etc.). And...well, I only really need and want ONE.

Like I said, it's hard to choose because both seems tellar in their own ways.

I dunno...could I get some opinions from people that have maybe played one or the other or both?

Hmmm...from what I hear, Zelda is extremely easy! I think that would be a gimme, since I hear that a lot.

But outside of that, about how long is each game, play-wise? Will I get more play-time out of either?

Looking for more bang for the buck here http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif

Hmmm honestly they are both Very good games, I own and try to play both but thats not that easy to do,
so far I must say that Zelda has a slight edge because of its reputation and, great story there is alot of twist and turns in this one http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif But on the same not I was loving the heck out of my Dark Cloud 2 before zelda was released, and all B-S aside the graphics are not as pretty as zelda but they are really good , and im not as far into DC 2 as I am zelda simply because this game is kinda hard.
If you enjoyed alot of the things found in orcaina of time then darkcloud will not disappoint you in, in some aspects you can simply say sony was trying to come as close as possible to making orcarina of time 2 without catching a fat lawsuit http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif *LOL* anyone who has played DC 2 will know what im talking about it has alot of fun stuff you can spend literatly hours just fishing and taking pictures etc..etc.. in DC 2.

But zelda is still simply zelda a legend and another masterpiece if you ask any fan of the series.

My final breakdown is this

So far I have 44 total hours of gameplay in DC 2 and im not close to beating it because im always doing sidequest and stuff, plus the puzzles nice and hard not to mention that F**king spheda thing http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif

And Zelda is very addicting because you strive to see whats going to happen next, but so far its pretty much on the easy side unlike previous zeldas that required a strategy guide, I have accumulated just slightly over 14 hours and so far im about 50 -65% through the game maybe more and Im not using a book, keep in mind I know I havent found everything that I should have like the heart pieces and stuff but you can still porgress because so far no boss has presented a real challage to me qand im not trying to make a spoiler for yu or anything but everyone already knows every zelda has this so, to give you a better idea of how far into the game I am I have the Mastersword and Mirror shield http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif

I highly recommend that you get some advice from your loacl, electronics beautique represenitive, if they are anywhere as honest and have good taste like the ones in my area they wont lead you the wrong way http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif

That's not true. I thought Ocarina had a great story.

And Majoras was odd...but it was unique and creatiive. and with the feirce deity's mask the final boss was the most epic fight ever.

SeanX930 hmm actually yes zelda has always had somewhat of a good story, maybe you have mistaken zelda to be a 100% RPG its not its something called a Action,RPG so of course compared to games like final fantasy, chrono trigger, arc the lad, wild arms etc..etc..the story is going to lack in comparison http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif but its still a great game series gotta love link http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_eek.gif

well I take my comment back. The story is good, however I don't really like Zelda because it's story isn't complex. It's just a turn off to me. There's a good theme allright, and don't get me wrong, I've enjoyed Ocarina quite alot, but in comparison to 90% of the other RPG's i've played (I'll admit mostly Squaresoft titles) The story itself doesn't seem to build character relationships and have the complexity of other RPG's that most I enjoy playing do have. =P

Zelda is great so don't think i'm making fun of it...i just never felt it's story to be strong...to me it allways just seemed like something out of David The Knome =P

DC2 looks pretty cool to me, but I haven't played it yet...

HOWEVER, Wind Waker is one of the best games I've ever played. My two cents. http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_hamster.gif If you were to buy one game this year, this is the one.

Give both of 'em a try though.

I have Dark Cloud 2 and no GC. So I would say DC2. Its fun, but sometimes its very easy and sometimes in very hard. Wierd.

I feel you 100 % is it me or was it somewhat of a let down when it came time to kick the rainbow butterflies butt?

The Wind Waker has a very compelling story... It grabs you like no other Zelda has done before... It really feels like a new adventure because every thing we knew about the legend of zelda, hyrule and link is gone... "Link" in this game is actually a reincarnation of the hero of time... The story isnt in anyway predictable as the other zelda games were... Not IMO anyway... And the world will make every other squaresoft world green with envy.... Its HUGE and there are so much to do. It gives you so much freedom thats never been seen before in a zelda game. I think its one of the best zelda games ever... Though i wish it could have been a little bigger.

Zelda- Great game, intriguing story, excellent music(for the most part), but it only took me about 16 hours to complete it. Granted, I didn't go out of my way to get Heart Pieces, Maps, etc., but Ocarina of Time took much longer than that even without sidequests. If you are a Zelda fan though you'll love it.

DC2- Also a great game, graphics aren't as impressive as Zelda(though not at all bad), but music is good and it is VERY long. You'll get a lot of playing time out of this one. The story in this one is pretty strong as well, though it is very hard.

More game for your buck? I'd say DC2.
