Blank screen after the cutscene after clicking create new character.

After logging in and clicking on the create new character option, a cutscene occurs which I can watch, after if finishes or I skip it, the screen goes blank with no sound or anything. I can however press the X and I'm presuming its coming up with do I want to exit or something because I can hear my invisible cursor going over an option. I've launched from the tweaker and from the normal client, uninstalled the story patch and reinstalled and I've set my options down to the lowest but I'm unsure how to solve this problem. Any help?
