You mean Phantasy Ocean?
As it's Tri-Ace doing it, Sega/PSO2 team is just giving info, and checking to see if it fit the PSO2 lore.

I'm pretty sure they also said they had given them the engine for pso2 as seen from the gameplay trailers.

Would be a little counter productive to try and capitalize on PSO2's success, and yet not let Nova's developer use PSO2's engine.

It only uses the same character creator, we didn't really get too much information about the game. Since TGS isn't here yet.

You're right. This doesn't play like PSO2 at all:

God I really hope they tweak the graphics engine.

And then apply the improved one to PSO2VITA.

Its not out of the ordinary for a side game/sequel to change moves around so meh. But overall it plays a lot like PSO2 based on that and other trailers. But as far as changes go well... techs don't require charging in that. And they fire as fast as uncharged techs on PSO2 now. So lol.

Still funny how any of that is in that game though given the whole "btw, no photon arts gaiz" thing.

I'd laugh if they balance the game better than pso2. I doubt it to a degree depends how much they play test and if they remove and add stuff

Well apparently they have at least one new weapon. There's some harpoon gun thing being brought in. I wouldn't be surprised to see some interesting differences.

Also, I'm totally betting we'll get new stuff related to that game in pso2 a few months after it comes out.

Edit: The harpoon gun is supposed to cause weakpoints to come up by the way so it could end up kicking ranger out a bit depending on how things go.

PSNOVA Gameplay Footage - YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1msb2KllhJw)

Who knows, how much the game has changed since then. That was like what early alpha? Might share similarities, but playing exactly like PSO2, I don't think so.

It's prolly gonna be like PSU=PSP2 in terms of how similar they are.

I'm not gonna dispute you on it playing different, but that doesn't mean its not using the same engine..

For reference, these two games were both made in the same engine:

They don't exactly have to play exactly the same to come from the same base.

Given the changes we know already though, I already think PS Nova should play out pretty interestingly. I always did have an interest in what they'd do with PSO2's version of force if it didn't have to charge techs.
