As most of you know there is an Official English version of PSO2 not released in NA. It only has episode one however everything except the voice acting (which is subbed) is officially in english. Anyways if you don't want to deal with unofficial patches it's pretty easy to download and play on the Singapore server however you'll need a vpn or proxy server for Singapore or one of the other countries that fall within the region.

First you'll need to download the official English client. You can try downloading the client with a VPN from the official website but below is a link to a torrent that was originally created by SEA that I reuploaded. You'll also need to manually patch if the regular patcher doesn't work. This is the official website it has the manual patches but I think you have to use a VPN to download them. They aren't very big so it's not a problem. This is the official website you can try to download the client there too if you don't want to use the torrent. http://pso2.playpark.com/en/ The website has lots of guides and instructions.

Please note if you do have to use the manual patches you must do them all in-order!

Official English Client Download Page (http://download.playpark.com/en/detail/108) (Requires VPN)
Official English Client Torrent Download (http://uploadmirrors.com/download/T2J0UODQ/pso2_full_client_2.0221.4.torrent) (Requires uTorrent or similar)

Manual Patch mirrors:
Patch V2.0211.4 - V2.0221.6 (http://www.uploadmirrors.com/download/0NPNKCFS/pso2_manual_patch_2.0221.4_to_2.0221.6.zip)
Patch V2.0221.6 - V2.0221.8 (http://www.uploadmirrors.com/download/RDSPN2UQ/pso2_manual_patch_2.0221.6_to_2.0221.8.zip)
Patch V2.0221.8 - V2.0231.2 (http://www.uploadmirrors.com/download/1CN3JUSF/phantasy_star_online_2_manual_patch.exe)
Patch V2.0231.2 - V2.0231.3 (http://www.uploadmirrors.com/download/IZ4XN7UT/pso2_manual_patch_downloader.exe)

All of these patches are in their original form just reuploaded to mirrors and the torrent for the client was created by SEA.
There are free VPNs but I couldn't seem to get them to work this (http://www.droid-life.com/2014/09/30/deal-3-years-of-vpn-unlimited-premium-for-19/) is the one I use and it works really good so far but if someone has a better way to do it for free please post it in the thread. It would be nice to have a PSO2Proxy for this version of the game as well. Like the Japanese version I joined ship 2.

If you want to play on the Japanese servers which are actually a lot better and include Episodes 1 to 3 as well as other content I highly recommend the JP PSO2 Tweaker which can be found in this thread (http://www.pso-world.com/forums/showthread.php?t=207248).

Yeah I am a level 15 Wizard I just started a character on there.

I have a character on the Japanese version and there is a lot of stuff you can't read even with the fan made english patches. It takes longer to download the regular patches, fan patches, and then md5 check everything and then it could possibly break and you have to fix it. You only have to turn on your VPN app and open the game and it works normal without doing anything else. That being said obviously the JP version is better because it has more content but for me it doesn't really matter since I'm behind on the content anyways and can't understand half of it. I appreciate the people who have worked hard to make tools to let us play the japanese version but it's nice to have an official english version even if it's region locked. Hopefully eventually they'll remove that restriction so we don't have to use a VPN. I have to use a proxy on the JP version now in addition to all the extra patches so this is a lot easier.

You going to face all of those problem, playing the exact same game (except it worse and far more outdated), you gonna regret moving from JP to SEA only to see the server burns and service ended.

While the translation itself pretty much "alright", i really hate the way Asiasoft treating PSO2 and Phantasy Star in general.

You probably should just post this guide somewhere else, like reddit for example since most people on PSO-W already playing on JP server.

The guide is already posted for those that want it. I may decide to go back to the jp servers if I don't like the english one as much but so far it's pretty much exactly the same game play but more things are able to be read. I don't speak japanese so I couldn't tell you that it's a horrible translation it has been proper grammar and such from what I've played so far. You are right I don't really understand why there isn't a proper English release to the other areas of the world that want it. But really I don't understand why you would be so antagonistic against me posting a helpful guide in a forum dedicated to PSO2? I even said that the japanese version was better I'm not trying to force anyone to switch or anything I'm simply relaying information that others may want.

Thanks for being positive I agree I wish they just released an english version on the japanese servers to be honest lol. The community did a really great job with the unofficial patches and the tweaker and I've used it since day one of the games release and most likely I'll probably still check in every so often.

Mad stop being nice or I'll demote you ;3 joking aside not in a troll way but yeah there really isn't a reason at this point to play a version with more rng, less content, and less players. Its pretty much the american version of psu vs the JP version of psu all over again just because people like english

"Go to the official website" isn't much of a guide

The most helpful thing here are the download mirrors, but nobody could read this thread and start playing without spending $20, and that's apparently the sale price.

I know there are other ways to do it then the way I did it with the vpn I bought because a few other people told me they had a free one that worked good for them if I find out which one it is I'll post it. I just needed a vpn anyways and saw that one for cheap so that's why I got it.

You know, even if I didn't have the minor Japanese knowledge I have backing me I still don't think I'd want to play on SEA... The servers are ridiculously far behind, EXP rates are nerfed, clothing for whatever reason account binds, 10*s, and presumably above that, bind on equip apparently, original PSO lore is overwritten in favor of generic silliness (which is why I can never really consider that localisation good regardless of its translation quality), connection quality is bound to be just as bad given the location, collab content is nonexistent entirely aside from possibly future Sega related things, their new chat font just sucks, and while this list is fairly nitpicky there are more than enough big and little things in it to make me never want to play that version of the game over the Japanese one.

I'm not telling anyone not to play it and if you live in SEA already, its probably okayish. But honestly, a lot of friends I have on PSO2 from SEA continue to play the Japanese version which should say a lot in and of itself. There are upsides to it like with anything even if you're an American say, but I believe I speak for a lot of people when I say I consider it very much inferior to the Japanese version.

You're not the first person to make a thread like this and I know you probably won't be the last either. If you enjoy Asiasoft's version of the game, that's fine. But as you should know, most of us are very aware of how to play on it already and simply choose not to for a myriad of reasons.

There was nothing in this post that they did not already know. They posted this thread so that the very small amount of people who would for some reason or another want to play SEA, could play SEA. It isn't about claiming which is better or which has a larger player base it was just to help the minority but instead people flame or tell them how useless this post is with their very ironic useless post.

If you are not interested in SEA then don't post in the thread about it.

I play SEA every other month, just to see the difference in translation. But that's all I'm doing, Matter Board Paradigm Matrix and some COs CRs where the NPC goes with you and chats a little.

I think the title of this thread is a misnomer. Lots of people don't even think the SEA version is well translated.

In addition to that, when(if) the NA version gets released, and you're trying to say this is the official english version, you're stepping on some toes right there tricking people into playing a different translation and on servers that will have worse ping. (To people who are only scanning titles of threads that is).

Misleading maybe but it's not a misnomer, since it's true, regardless of quality.

But the SEA server doesn't have the Casino, and that's the true PSO2 endgame.
I can't tell if you're being sarcastic or not because all the boss trigger runs recently actually make that pretty close to the truth...

WHY ARE PEOPLE EVEN TRYING TO MAKE THREADS TO HELP SUPPORT THE FUQING SEA SERVER?
THIS IS DISGUSTING take the thread down :(((((((((

to be serious though... if you hafto go through so much trouble with playing the sea versionn.... why not just go jp? i really don't understand why people are so stubborn.

edit: and yes please change the title of the thread, it is extremely misleading.

@Thread Opener

A large problem with Phantasy Star and playing in the original version might feel its people trying to be purists. Its actually quite the opposite and it deals with behaviorism.

You want the best things, you are playing in Japan, pure and simple. The population (including myself) tried to stick to Localized versions with PSO and PSU. The results were our versions not getting patched properly and even a point came where we were 1.5 - 2 years behind the original version in patching.

...what was worse was for any original PSO fan, having to go out there and buy every version known to man for "latest updates on items" just to watch our version actually close permanently while the JPN version was still going on strong.

I remember buying a Dreamcast for Sonic Games and PSO. Then paying another $40 when version 2 came out. I remember then buying a game cube where at the same time a PC version of Ver 2 was ported which failed (paid money for that too). The game cube version was great and then we all heard the next batch of items were coming out on the X-Box version which surprise, surprise was ported to PC and made as Blue Burst...

Think about this along with all the time and energy spent to remake characters and go after gears and deal with snotty and shitty section IDs.

Then came PSU where the PC community of the game was waiting for that one super large patch that would have turned Masterforces into what they should have been. Well our prize for waiting was being told the game was going to shut down.

I remember in less than a month playing in Japan, I had regained practically everything that took me years to get in the shitty localized version..

In short, we tried to stick to our localized versions, but after learning the hard way that SEGA (and most Japanese Companies) do not give a damn about treating localized games equally, and dealing with the bullshit SoA that we had to deal with...

...Smart people play in Japan

Simply Put, and Simply part of behaviorism....

...Either play in Japan or prepare to get burned, and watch it when the SEA version gets stripped and goes through the same BS, I guess SEA is going to learn what it truly feels like to play Localized Japanese games when a pretty bird flaps its wings one days and the message delivered saying "good bye" comes and next thing you know, your version is a thing of the past and all you will have to say is "I should have played the Japanese version from the start"

It is what it is and it is the experience many have had.

I bumped into this thread because my tweaker stopped working and I was looking for alternatives since I'm not as fortunate as others to actually understand Japanese at the moment. I would prefer to just keep playing my Jp server character so I would really appreciate if anyone had any idea of how to help me get my tweaker working again.

This is the problem I'm facing when trying to use the tweaker:
Program started...
Loading sidebar page...
Program opened successfully! Version 3.0.8.0 [OK!]
Checking for updates, please wait a moment...
Downloading Update...
ERROR - The specified executable is not a valid application for this OS platform.
ERROR - Index was outside the bounds of the array.
All done - System ready!

A bit more detail:
I had the updated version before but, when I got these messages, I tried to re-install. Now I have an outdated version that gives me the same error messages. I've had this computer for a while and used to play PSO2, with the tweaker, without any major issues. Sadly, it got infected and, last week, I finally gave up on trying to fix it. I reset it to factory defaults and everything seemed to be ok. The computer's factory OS was Windows 8. Yesterday, as it had before the reset, the OS was updated to Windows 8.1. I was actually excited about it, since I was hoping to try the game with my XBOX ONE controller, out of curiosity, and I couldn't do that unless I had the 8.1 update. As soon as the update was done, I encountered the problem. I have tried every troubleshooting option in the tweaker, re-installing the tweaker, re-installing the game, leaving the tweaker in the download folder (since I originally had it in it's own C:\ folder as recommended), and even a tweet with AIDA's handle grovelling for help. Lol! If you have read this far, thank you! If you have any new ideas for me to try, thank you! If you can reply without being rude, thank you!

P.S. I'm nowhere near being a programmer (if that isn't obvious from the way I worded my post). Please be aware that, if the ideas you have are comlpex, I'll need further instructions. =)

If you wanna advertise SEA then tell people how things roll there:

If you want REAL Pay2Win you should check SEA... Some of their costumes have huge affixes like +30% atk, +30% dark tech boost, BLACK HEART potential, +30% def and +100% rare drop boost.... ON 1 COSTUME, and they can just roll with it without high end gear cuz they just got carried by their costumes.... (And its affixes expire after a month so you need to buy a new one, either scratching for one or buy it for like 150m+

Id rather not play a game where my performance in "endgame" its directly tied with how much money i can spend and how much time i have left until said "rented" stuff expire; i had my good share of that bs in many cA$hiasoft games. They have an "AC buy ranking" for photons sake.

Unrelated but, as someone who cant by any means possible buy anything online no matter how much i can actually pay for thanks for my country, even that 20$ vpn is impossible so ill stay in the affordable up-to-date free to play experience, thank you and enjoy killing "Dorkerz" with your "Wizard".

I really don't wanna add to the SEA server bullying here... but I have to agree that every time a japanese MMO comes to the west side it always suffers from a LOT of issues: licenses regarding anime collabs not taken care of so from just that it's a TON of content scratched out, slow updates and sometimes, when ya do get the updates, you get a translation for it that makes ya cringe (I remember AIDA cringing over the translation on the SEA server too, I did as well), let's not mention the community is typically made of pretentious teens or kids for the most part on the english servers.

To play on SEA because there's more stuff translated in english there is the typical choice but most stuff that is not translated on JP isn't needed but if you do wanna do it anyway you can just read cirnopedia or something and get it over with, I mean it's not like SEGA ever updated Arks Road much in these past years, it was like what? 1 update on Arks Road to reflect crafting? And the story... I mean does anyone care about the story at this point?... I never did to be honest.

And this just blew my mind:

I knew it was bad but not THIS BAD, 30% boost? 150m per costume? I also heard that you can't sell/trade 'em since it becomes account locked once you equip them... screw that, that's all I'm gonna say.

Of course the point in the end is that this is a free world, heck you play whatever you want but I'm damn sure the SEA server ain't gonna last more than 2 more years considering how pretty much pay to win they're running it.

Quite some long stuff to explain about why SEA sucks, legitly.

That thing is kinda old, this thread should be buried, and hell why people are even bother to post in this thread (unless they are more or less jerkass, like me.)

Anyway, there is a thing called bad export for ya (http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/BadExportForYou). It does not limit to a game called PSO2. (but as far as I can see, JPN originated game mostly done this)

Can always migrate, or play both.

Oh yeah btw, hi Star Gems, you are better than aug costumes.

When you said the SEA community is filled with Teens... then you never seen everything yet...
- people are too stubborn that theyre like hardcore white knight-ing SEA so hard from JP people that they kept rewarded by A$ia$oft of AC repeated scratches

- in the subject of white knight-ing the server, TH server which is the same as SEA have a waaay better market prices... theres a rumor that one of the SEA GMs is generating and selling RMT meseta for more profit

- they brag so hard about their HARDCORE difficulty (cuz they rushed ep3 values while on ep2), thats the only thing that theyre proud of, while disregarding the 99% problems with SEA.... but theyre too dumb to realize that IF ep3 hits, they will lose their hardcore difficulty and end up being a way inferior copy of the current JP server... plus guess wut? They still have affix costumes to make the game more EASY

- i ran with my friend (who is playing Ranger) ages ago, and we're playing Elder EQ right? The whole fight the people in the EQ just spammed cut-ins like no tommorrow on every move they do, and my friend cant aim Weak Bullet properly cuz the screen is covered with cut-ins... and they blamed and thrash talked my friend so badly...

- most people just AFK... theyre even too bored to play the game and just do cringy stuff in the lobby... like b-001 tier

- again people are too bored to play that they just make dumb memes and comics, most likely fantasizing their char/npc waifus on their facebook group.... and kinda infected Aida's old pso2 facebook group (which most of the posts lack braincells now than before).... but stay back, if you reason with them on how dumb theyre doing they will treat you like a savage and call you a c*nt or something....
