Maybe SEGA should do this...

create a backup of your character in your memory card/xbox drive where the character contains no items or meseta whatsoever but has all stats and level intact? so whenever a character becomes corrupt.. the game would load up the backup over your corrupted character..

maybe this way you wouldnt lose hours of leveling to fsod/bsod....

Well if it did this it would still have to save. It would take twice as long and if it was new feature, people might corrupt their Back-ups.

1) Why Vega? Pure user traffic?

2) Hey, you've got my name, only with more 'T's http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif

im sure sega would design something to prevent the corruption of backups otherwise what would be the point of having a backup??

It would be nice to be able to save a backup of your character, without items and without modified stats. However, it might be too easy to restore a high level character to multiple systems. How do you know if it's legal to restore a backup if the original data is corrupted? Maybe it could be loophole-proof, but it would be another backdoor =-_-=

I think the best way is for SEGA to store your saved data on there severs. You could tell them if you want it back to your momory card so you could play off line. I mostly play online so I would just leave it there a lot.

Fsod, Bsod? BLASPHEMY! Can't sega get something right. What is it exactly causes a corruption anyway? I had one when I was level 36 in Mines Hard Just finished Vol opt again, switched off and dang it deletes everything. And yes I do have an official memory card 59 http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif

On the box, if you pull your ethernet cable/lose connection, it autosaves and exits the game. I have had a BSOD and lost nothing because I pulled the cable.

If you mod your Xbox and install the ybox BIOS on your chip, you can FTP between your computer and your Xbox. This lets you back up your character data.

I know of one way to usually save your items on the GameCube version. When you get the buzzing FSOD, power off your GameCube. Now, power back on and go into offline multiplayer mode. You shouldn't get the error about quiting the game incorrectly this way. Now, just pick your character and one other. Load them up, and transfer all your items into the bank. Now quit and save. When you go back into single player mode, you'll see the error. This is when your items get wiped.

I tried this once before, after an entry FSOD, and wiped in multi mode too. Anything specific I have to do here?

Well to help prevent FSOD and getting corrupted, the following has worked for me:

1) Don't go online -- well that worked up until the point I got online

2) Go Broadband, less disconnections

3) NETWORK, this isn't as feasible for dial up-ers, but you have other problems. I have my 2 gamecubes connected to a hub and then a router and I haven't had any sort of problem. I've heard similar things from friends

4) Watch your teammates -- if they aren't moving, ryuker, deposit unequipped stuff and quit. Okay, so they might just be picking their butts, but better safe than sorry.
