Wow, already hacked items on Xbox...

I was just offered a Heart of Angel, G-Assassin's Sabers 0/100/95/100 (or some BS percents like that), and a Panther's Claw 0/0/0/95 for my newly-created Sato. I didn't accept, of course, but it sucks to see such BS items already. G-Assassin's Sabers with percents?! This is going to be worse than the GC version.

Personally I would have been happy if the game was totally cheat free but, such is life. Now at least I can say without being called a fanboy that insofar as cheating goes, The Gamecube came out a lot cleaner than any version of PSO released to date.

I don't really trust the pictures due to the fact that easter eggs aren't available on the xbox. The pics could easily be from a GC. Not that I disbelieve you I am just saying personally, in-game, I haven't seen any evidence of cheating. I do know of the Malcom X thing, and a couple of people transfering JP PSOX characters with modded xboxes, but that is it.

About another post.... yeah we should all know no game is cheat free, just isn't possible. However unlike the GC version of PSO, MS CAN ban the $*#% out of anyone who is cheating. Thanks to the Gamertag and feedback systems MS can track everysingle player. I have heard from many reliable sources including some of the very prominent xbox sites that players are being banned for inappropriate play on xbox live.

Look at the attack palette.(It shows your attacks set, ex: A button: Normal attack) Notice that it's set up like the DC one. DC and PSOX have the same, while GC has a more diagonal one. So that throws the possibility of it being GC out the window. And since I'm sure that DC and PC don't have easter eggs, that leaves only one remaining pso.

Edit: Even more proof that it isn't DC or PC. Notice where your name, level, HP, TP etc are displayed in the upper left hand corner. This style shown in the pics is only used on GC and XBOX pso. So I now have no doubt in my mind that PSOX is indeed already hacked.

What bans will create is secret hacking.. people not telling others that its hacked.

What Blizzard did for diablo2 was store the characters on their servers so that no one could touch the game data. That makes hacking and duping only possible online. But that makes for characters you cant transfer fromofline to online, and no item swaping in ofline multi mode (something i love!)

This is just a shame. I'm still on GC PSO, but I hate to see this happen anywhere. Still, I'd have to say overall, that just dealing with dupes is nowhere near as bad as this. I'm glad I didn't get PSO for my X-Box. And after this version, I'd say server side saves are an absoulte must.

You truely are stupid, aren't you? Just because this game has been hacked, does not mean it is online. Between the fact that the servers are ran by Microsoft, and the feedback sytem, it will be hard to cheat online. If someone gets enough feedback about cheating, than Microsoft will examine and ban their gamertag. All it means is that they can dupe items offline, and make level 200 characters. There's already duping on GCPSO. So much for you stupid comment there...fanboy.

I think only really ignorant people didn't see this coming. I ended up quitting the GC version because one of the guys' I played with real life friends was one of the people duping the hell out of everything (Phrostbyte). Even with the hacking, there's still a better chance of it getting attention on the XBox than the GCN, as Microsoft actually cares about the state of their online gaming servers. They don't want a bunch of hackers running around. I report everyone I see that I know is a hacker, including that Sonja chick from those pics if I ever see her. That and the fact that I don't have to pay $100 for a keyboard (voice chat sucks), and I'm still happy with the XBox version. What did you really expect?

The stupid fanboy you answered to aside, what would prevent someone from making and duping rare weapons with ugly % offline, then giving them around online ?
Yes, I know, you can't go online if you used a game with a modchip, that kind of stuff. But, it's only a matter of preventing the console OS from detecting the modchip, or to prevent it from saving the infos saying that a modchip has been used.

All of this process being offline, I don't see how a motivated hacking punk wouldn't be able to do it.
I don't see how it can be prevented, in a 100% secure, non-hackable way, that people having used a modded box can find a way to go online without consequences.

Sure, if there's a proper enforcement of game policies, and that they can actually ban people cheating, it's fine.
But how can they tell that someone cheated and duped/created a weapon, and not obtained it legitly ? How can they tell that one didn't get to lv200 legitly ?
They can right now, because no nce can possibly have done so so early after game release, but in a few months, how will they be able to verify whether player X, reported as a cheater by other players, is actually a cheater ?

Sure, they can do lots of stuff, like embedding MD5 checksum of important game files in the character save, and then send them to the servers when going online to verify that the char hasn't been played on a modified version of the game, things like that.
But that kind of thing can be cracked.

That was my point.

All version of PSO are either cheated to death or in danger of becoming so. The rather thin barriers delaying that inevitable fate are just of different nature in different versions, but it won't make much difference in the long run.

It's just beyond my understanding when people have this incredible faith that the next version will be ok, even though it still doesn't have server-side saves. It was just as annoying when people were saying that GC pso wouldn't be hacked, while almost every single technical fact was just contradicting them.

Whuh? Am I missing something? How does a bunch of screenshots with one person standing by themselves pointing out hacked gear prove Xbox Live is hacked?

It would be silly to believe that you couldn't hack the game online, but there's no evidence here that the player's even online. They could at least have added a few people standing around in the background so it looks like the player is online. Maybe that's harder to do than editing the hard disk to give yourself hacked items though, I don't know. Probably would take a real server emulator instead of a hacked single player offline game.

The only way I could think of for someone to prove to me that the online portion has been hacked would pretty much be resulting in a Feedback registered on that person's Gamertag, and then possibly a ban. I'm not really sure what you could do to convince me the game's hacked to bits that wouldn't result in you being banned, but at least coming up with some screenshots that look like they're in online with multiple players would be a start.
