does the pan arms have to be together when you kill it to get its arms?

Yes I was wondering that as well. And why am I sometimes able to kill the Pan Arms together but sometimes I can't do any damage to them when they are together?

Yes to get Pan Arms blades it has to be together. When it separates, it becomes 2 separate monsters, Migium and Hidoom.

As far as killing it together and doing 0 damage other times, i'm not sure.

Yes, Pan Arms must not separate.

If you're doing no damage you can use Fire Traps with an Android, or use Techs with a Human/Newman.

When they separate, just leave the room and be patient, the 2 monsters will eventually combine again.

Also, MightyJoeDunn, make sure to check your Section ID.
Your sig says you are Greennill, and that means you would find a Red Dagger from an Ult Pan Arms in the Caves.

It may also be useful to freeze the pan arms with an ice trap or a form of barta, as they tend to split when their health gets low.
