I just read this a few minutes ago. I thought it was a joke at first.

Like, holy shit, that's sudden. What a terrible thing.

R.I.P. Iwata-san, thank you for the great systems you helped deliver in the past decade. Also, Balloon Fight forever !!!

When I saw this I was like "Well that sucks. I wonder how he died? Ninja assassins or a kaiju, or maybe got caught in a anime duel cross fire?"

This was also sudden and sad news to me. RIP Iwata, and my thoughts are to his family as well. Both at Nintendo and at home.

This past pre-E3 also had games he was directly related to, in some fashion. From the origins of Super Smash Bros and Balloon Fight (At the NWC), to the reveal of Earthbound Origins, on the same day. Oddly enough, Earthbound Origins was the current RPG I've been playing.

Definitely a guy to be missed. A rather important figure to Videogames, and one of the few heads who actually played the games, often so that they would have his approval for being *fun* enough. Not many gamer heads of companies that actually put his gaming chops where his mouth was.
