Major Connection Problems

I am having serious connection problems with psox. No mater what game i join/make whether im alone or with a team i cant pick up items, and when the chance comes that it lets me it takes about 10 -15 seconds. Nothing else in the game is lagged (other characters arnt jumping, i can hit enemies, no phantom hits from enemies) Im assuming this is lag but i cant explain why it only affects me pickin up items. You can imagine that this is damn annoying. Anyone experience this and find a way around it? or am i just stuck into waiting until i come home from school?
