Just got gameinformer and read more about it. Decided to watch videos and learn more and I'm actually interested in this now. It's really what Phantasy Star Universe or a console Phantasy Star Zero should be more like, IMO.

*It has main character creation like PSO, (not as customizable as PSO2, but still good options to be found in the customization options, and good looking character is possible.)

*open world that is unique to itself
and refreshing from other open world games that are largely western influenced.

Player Creation

*mechs you can pilot in realtime (well Phantasy Star wasn't known for mechs, but PSIV did have 3 vehicles that can be used for combat. So mechs actually would fit in a new Phantasy Star if they wanted. Way cooler than vehicles. )

*mix of realtime and cooldown combat

*over a dozen party members that have their own part of the story.

*online co-op and community features

* vast exploration on foot before earning Skells that change the way people experience the world.

* different weather

* deep story

* Xeno-ness in the character designs

* tons of post game replay value.

* lots of depth in all gameplay aspects

Japanese gaming publication Dengeki gave the game a positive review, referring to it as a masterpiece; they praised the gameplay, detailed world, story direction, and music, and said it has a "very high degree of perfection"

With Sega doing nothing for big budget single player Phantasy Star RPGs, looks like Xenoblade Chronicles X is the only worthy and most ground breaking sci fi RPG to play these days. Plus on top of a phenomenol single player open world RPG, it also has online co-op content as well. :)
One could imagine what they could do with direct sequels on the NX.

This feels like the most innovative sci fi RPG since the first Phantasy Star Online.

Actually, I'm almost surprised that more people haven't brought it up. It goes to show the issues of good games that go under the radar because people don't bother to research the library across consoles.

Xenoblade Chronicles X is looking to be the next Xenogears, but with hopefully more audience attention. From a pure gaming-substance point of view, this will likely be the next biggest RPG of a generation for which way more people *should* be excited about than is.

From the crazy amount of Mech(Skell) customization, to the large open world. To the fact that your mechs are now multi-transforming mechs with at least 3 real-time transformations to use. The fact that there's a number of layers of combat skills, tactics, and character building. That there are even in-game Clans you can join to take advantage of various ways you can approach the open-gameplay completely different than in another Clan. It actually affects world/skills that matter so you excel at various different methods towards gains, making you play with a different approach to exploration, hunting, and combat based on what you pick. (Something you might see in something akin to Elder Scrolls, but hardly ever in a JRPG) Thus the replay-value is through the roof.

There's so much here, you'd wish you could do in other RPGs, I feel it would be yet another shame if this gets ignored. We've had a number of those who did, across many platforms, since the PS1/Saturn/N64 days.

Still, at least this is getting a better advertising campaign than most of those others; as long as people are willing to actually look into it when they see it. Alas, you can lead a horse to water.

Alas, with the lack of western PSO coming in the foreseeable future. (And my thousands upon thousands of hours I've poured in Phantasy Star, across the years. By far, the one franchise that I've put more hours into than any other videogame in my life)Xenoblade Chronicles X is going to have a lot of my attention.

what.... Skells have THREE transformations????!!!!! What, is Nintendo insane being so casual about this localized release???? Well I know they aren't being cheap with this localization like Koei is with most Dynasty Warriors (still no dubs!), but still.

Konami bribes major sites to give MGSV TPP a 10 out of 10, along with effective educational gameplay demonstrations that explore all parts of the gameplay, while Nintendo is doing the bare minimum to educate the masses about Xenoblade Chronicles X?? I know Nintendo is kind of giving up on Wii U and looking towards NX, but XCX could produce Wii Fit sales numbers if they hyped it enough.

This could be the Final Fantasy VII/Xenogears of the Wii U. No, more than that!!
It most definitely is breaking new ground for JRPGs and RPGs in general, in the best ways.
Whatever channel Nintendo is using, it's not as effective as youtube and major gaming sites that millions follow. They were foolish to skip TGS. Well the Nintendo fanbase could wake up and not miss out on this. And it's an exclusive on top of that!! This RPG alone could get more Wii Us in more households than any Mario, Zelda or Metroid they come up with.

Not everyone discover things at the sametime. :) All the more reason for nintendo to bring the marketing to greater heights for more to notice besides their small circle of followers. And I'm only as informed as I am because I do research and look for more info, whereas whatever nintendo sends out there is doesn't stretch out to all gaming sources, though they are starting to be more informative in magazines, sites, and other places. But it takes more than cover art, LE and few feature descriptions to gain more interest and attention.

It's like someone said:

I like to think NCL made it clear to NoA that this game must sell. That Nintendo home consoles need it's own premiere RPG. Just as it has it's own racer, platformer, adventure, and now shooter it needs it's own big console RPG. Xenoblade X is that series now and they put the money behind it.

There is no way this game was made on the cheap. A repeat of what happen with Xenoblade 1 likely can not happen. If my theory is right and NCL could be the one driving this we might actually see advertisements for XCX the way we did for Splatoon. That games success I hope has opened NCL's eyes about what can happen when you actually push a new game the way you would push a Mario game.

what.... Skells have THREE transformations????!!!!!

Seen at least 3 different types. Depending on the type of Skell, we've already seen Bike transformations, 4-wheeled vehicular transformations, and Tank Transformations.

The main idea being that your mechs can either run on the ground, be a vehicle on the ground, or take to the skies via flight. The flight transformation is supposedly similar for all types, but not available initially.

Thing is, the main thing they should do is ramp up TV adverts and stuff as they get closer to release. They have been putting out a lot of content about it, on the Internet as well as social media. This includes a number o videos and even video footage of panels that show lots of gameplay for 40+ minutes at a time. The only thing that's left are TV adverts and maybe a bit more push to gaming sites to have even more interviews and footage all without spoiling too much.

Oddly enough there area number of gems on Wii U now, it's just that it was missing the same level of sexy-advertising money spent like certain AAA third party games have gotten. In some ways, it makes sense, given some of those advertising budgets were way out of wack in terms of spending, where it was too tough to break even due to it. Companies like Square-Enix definitely got hit with that truth bomb. Now they're getting a little smarter with it.

I'm a bit curious where Nintendo will go with it. They did amazing with Splatoon (a meme-creating commercial or two withstanding). They also seem to hit the right channels for Animal Crossing games, knowing where their audience tends to look. I hope they know that Mech fans are Everywhere, do comprise of a large paying audience cross-consoles, and are literally *Starving* for some Mech Romance to grace the big screen these days. Especially since most mainstays or great starts in Mech Combat have sort of given up or at least been on a long hiatus.

LBX is cool and all, but that's portable only and without the same level of science fiction writing and intense scale of desperate situations.

All I do remember is that this game literally screamed my name and I screamed back because omg!!!!!) As a big mech lover... Akihiko voice:"I've been waiting for this!"

Kinda sad europe can't get the same Limited Edition like america because of some law forbidding the USB stick or something. ;~; Nonetheless I'm super hyped and got my EU LE already preordered! (Perfect for my birthday too, since my birthday is on December 17th!)

Came across more sources of sweet information. :) They did great with Splatoon promotions, however for something like Xenoblade Chronicles X, it's to Nintendo's benefit promoting it like they would their most popular franchises. A genre redefining RPG that raises the standards, exactly like XCX is doing, doesn't come around every gen. I been told that Nintendo is occupied with promoting Yoshi's game first since that's in Oct, but I think they will then hype XCX like MS would do for Halo, Square Enix would do for FF, Bethesda would do for TES, and EA will do for Star Wars.

There's Yoshi's Wooly World followed by the highly fan-requested Fatal Frame V (in time for Halloween). Xenoblade Chronicles isn't until the beginning of December, so I wonder when they'll start promoting it. Given it's probably the biggest Holiday release they have on the console, maybe it'll start promoting during that big hype window, and keep pushing it past that since it'll release after the CoD stuff blows over.

I'm gonna go ahead and say Earthbound is, by far, my favorite sci-fi RPG.

Then again, I haven't even played Xenoblade! Though I would like to check it out at some point. I just wasn't sure if Xenoblade 3D was a port of Xenoblade Chronicles and, if so, if it was available to be played properly without using the 3DS' 3D (my eyes can't take that nonsense).

Guess I'll go look it up now.

3DS one has worse graphics and no option for Japanese Voices. The later alone is reason enough not to buy it. I can't stand this game with English voices. Aside that its a direct port from the original.

It's been compressed to the point of being passably bearable to look at. Voices is a bonus, for those interested in it. However, the original Wii version is hard to find or overpriced due to a certain retailer.

On the whole Xenoblade Blade Chronicles X, I want another incentive to play on my Wii U than shooting paint at other people.

To the point I heard the first 2 lines of the opening, made my ears bleed, rebooted the game, put voice to JP and never switched it off. I guess it's not terrible voice acting for a game itself, I just find English ones to be dull and boring compared to Japanese ^^; I mainly blame anime and JP VA Only JRPGs for that. Wish more games had the option for Japanese VA like The Last Story, which I must say has pretty good English VA, and Tales games.

Wii U will also work in Wired mode with the same kind of wired connection the Wii uses. The Wii usb lan adaptor.

However, I would imagine, in a game like this, if you were to have connection problems, it will be a lot less likely it's due to WiFi.

Censorblade Chronicles X incoming!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bA7uW-Efy3k

In all seriousness, I know that these changes don't affect my gameplay. Still, it is dumb and unnecessary to censor parts of a character creator in order to "adapt to cultural differences". Although the reason has not been confirmed, I think it was some bullshit like this.

The removed bust slider doesn't affect the overall significance of the RPG at all. It's a big mistake on Nintendo's part removing it, but like Fallout 4 and other millions seller games that can do fine without it, it's not going to upset anyone that is getting this, at least those that are getting it for things other than smaller/bigger breasts.

I was going to choose the default bust size either way.

Lin's altered costumes are no big deal, and everyone else's costumes are not affected.
There's really no serious downsides to the localization.

there's still great amounts of customization there in multiple categories.

If it doesn't affect the gameplay in a positive way, why remove it?
Also, I fear that the translation will be a mess. Xeno-games always had religious references in their games, yet they still altered the BLADE acronym and changed the Testament fraction of BLADE to Reclaimers, to avoid offending people who won't buy the game anyway.
Heck, in Fire Emblem: Awakening, they even altered the text of several characters to maintain the goofy anime mood they aimed for.
These games are the intellectual property of their developers and should be treated like this. Anyone who shrugs this off by saying "it's a minor edit so who cares, you are all little perverts for getting angry about it" (which actually a lot of people say, sadly) fails to see the gravity of pointless censorship.
I hate censorship in all of its ugly forms, especially when I see it in a hobby I grew up with.

Found a quote.

There's a lot of misinformation going on, about how much has been taken out. The more extreme claims are absolutely insane and overly dramatic.

First, no religious references have been removed, except for the BLADE acronym, which probably wasn't removed for being religious.

The BLADE acronym originally stood for

"Beyond the Logos Artificial Destiny Emancipator", but now stands for

"Builders of the Legacy After the Destruction of Earth."

In this case, The Logos refers to god. However, it's more likely that the acronym was changed because it was awkward and a bit engrishy than because it had a religious reference.

Other claimed religious reference removals have been debunked. They follow:
1. BLADE division "Testament." This was used in the context of "last will and testament", and most of the BLADE divisions had their names changed. The new name fits what the division does in the story.

2. The character of L, who according to some is a reference to Lucifer, with his name an obvious reference to it. The localized version of his name is L'cirufe... which is an anagram for Lucifer. Neat. (The Japanese name was spelled "Rushirufe" in katakana. Anyone who claims that the reference to Lucifer was removed, if it is a reference, is now proven wrong.)

3. The Skell Amdusias retains its name in the localized version. Amdusias is the name of a demon. (The Skell Mastema is also a religious reference.)

Either way, I still find the censorship to not be an issue. Already used to it with anime and other things. I think some are not giving Nintendo enough credit for the things they are doing right with the localization, like the free DLC, the english dubs, and the rest of the game.

receiving the four DLC characters of Axana, Boze, HB, and Yelve for free.

In Japan, the packs for each one were ¥500, and beating their missions made them a potential party member for the player, bringing the total number of playable characters up to 19.

They are saving XCX fans $16 with that decision. Multiplied by the amount of people that get XCX, that's A LOT of money Nintendo is letting go for the benefit of the XCX fans.

Censorship is always an issue, no matter how trivial the censored aspects are. Screw cultural differences, screw appeasing vocal and offended minorities that aren't even the target audience of the game.
Also, people always tend to forget that there are more than just English or Japanese players. Not everyone who's part of the so called "Western audience" is a native speaker of the English language. Especially not in Europe.
I wouldn't have minded to fly around in Dolls or having the other BLADE acronym in my game. An English dub is nothing to thank them for. It's a waste of disc space, in my opinion.
The free DLC is a weak compensation for screwing up the localization, I would've paid for it anyway.

Call me salty or a weeb (or both) but I don't want to imagine what will happen to Censor Emblem: Fates and Shin Megami Censor x Censor Emblem.

I haven't looked at story spoilers, but having looked around on youtube for a bit, end game is crazy. Especially in the case of the Ares. 90 skell showcased in the battle trailer at 1:20.

Makes me want to play an AC game after seeing a lot of the things you can do to customize a skell and the general combat. A shame that the skell battles aren't truly action based.

It's still semi-realtime (active time) RPG battles, though it definitely seems to feel like straight action during those special critical cockpit-mode moments. Though, for the most part, movement is real-time.

It's still universes better than Xenogears and Xenosaga battle systems, where they can't even move or attack in realtime or semi realtime for that matter. I play FFXIV and XCX's battle system looks way more flexible and enjoyable. a downside to FFXIV's combat is that you have this bread and butter combo you have to do to have optimal damage output (black mage rotation is reeeally boring, but some like it), but something like XCX's combat reminds me of FFXII (not strict in how to fight to have the best offense output) and better than FFXII because you have all these cool weaponskill type moves to choose from, which makes melee and ranged combat even more stylish than spell casting.

And then factor in Skells and you have even more incredible options. Armored Core games despite being full realtime, can't compare to the great systems XCX, especially being an open world rpg and having more variety of things to fight, plus 4 person party, and more.

Found a lot of multiplayer info

https://www.reddit.com/r/Xenoblade_Chronicles/comments/3u77rz/xenoblade_x_multiplayer_information_thread/

Sega (and practically any conpany) can learn so much from XCX for their rpgs.

Nov 25, 2015, 11:19 PM
Well Armored Core, is definitely a different style game. So it's understandable that no RPG will scratch quite the same itch. Still, on the subject of like and un-alike. Take note that one aspect usually given to even realtime action Mech games are cool down timers on much of the ordinance you fire. So the tactile feel difference is not based on cool-down timers. Where this game and those are just alike (at least for the more advanced mech action game systems) is the way you can realtime move about the battlefield, direction of attack on an enemy (based on facing, etc) are utilized (at least in the more advanced action mech games), and you can do location-based damage.

The biggest differences are that some of the specific damage numbers have some randomized calculated fluctuations based on statistics along with the static modifiers (location, direction, strong-parts, weak-parts), and the fact that you don't feel that you are just "pressing a corresponding button to immediately fire off chosen ordinance assigned to that button". Selecting between abilities for your activation is the main separation, and to action gamers that makes THE difference to them. Plus Armored Core has more of a focus on mech vs. mech duels as a main part of its gameplay. Sometimes having you go through a location doing thing as a warmup. As a bit of a mech connoisseur, I definitely know when you get the feel for a specific kind of mech game. Take note that this game is long, and it takes a while just to even get to the Mech gameplay. So not precisely comparable to a game, just based on mechs, where you can fight in one within minutes of booting it up. There are times when I really feel like specifically playing Virtual On, due to the fact that there is no mech setup, a good choice of wild mechs for which I can jump in and duel within seconds, adding to the fact that the combat is among the fastest ever done in a mech game (hyper speed and still attacks are on cool-downs). But as one RPG experience that happens to have customizable mechs in it, XCX is definitely the most ambitious I've seen. So of course I'm excited about it due to my wide array of genres I love to see science fiction and mech combat in. For me, seeing such a large scope RPG for which they didn't skimp out on Mech details, is amazing to me. That doesn't happen often. Almost never. (Now someone also bring back Chromehounds, though to be fair, that game's most unique feature was destroyed by Party Chat. That game had intelligence battles where if you knocked out an enemy communication tower, those players in that vicinity lost communication with their team, effectively cutting them off from intelligence. The ensuing panic situations and the idea of trying to form rescue teams was quite the experience. So yeah, that dates it. The game was made before Xbox Live had Party Chat.)

Having played the original Steel Battalion, I enjoy far more using an A.I.S. than a strict Mech simulator, so I don't really think the Skell will impress me, other than moving around a huge world in it, and transforming it into a bike.

Nov 27, 2015, 08:50 AM
Well, XCX does have some Gundam roots to it and yep Takayuki Yanase is attached to such projects. Projects, of which lineage goes back to generations of Mech-show fans. So yeah, this still hits us in the childhoods. Ahh to remember the days when Voltron, Transor Z (And yes that was the US name for Mazinger Z), and Robotech were new to us. (It also explains some of the music choices in the mechs. I already heard one that definitely falls right into the Robotech/Macross vibe.)

I would say since sometime within Gen X (due to the timing of tv programming), there has been this connection with the Japanese, on the romanticism of the future. Or at least a future where you can climb into a giant robot. Of course, at the same time, not exactly thinking on what scary situation we'd be in to NEED to climb into the same kind of Giant Robots.

It's basically an optional data install to speed up load times (mainly seen at the first startup of the game and fast-travel). It's kind of like what is done with many PS3/PS4/XB1 titles. They install code to speed up the loading. Just that Wii U usually doesn't install anything like that for its physical games, they wanted to do it for this one. Of course, digital buyers need not download the data packs since what they do is automatically done when running digitally.

If only the hard drive size for the Wii U wasn't stuck at a measly 32GB I would download all the packs to have smoother loading times. Relying on having an external drive is a bit inconvenient for myself as I have multiple consoles hooked up to my tv and having to get a drive that has its own power source would be taking up more space than I have.

If it came to Steam, it would be nice, but the Nintendo practically owns Monolith Soft, so that's not something I would expect to happen.

I actually got my 2TB drive for my 32GB one pretty much around day 1. I expected to do a lot of digital especially since it followed the Wii (known for its VC and thus a pretty big digital market). That and it launched with probably the best digital sales deal available on any system at the time. Every digital sale gave you 10% back towards other games (And you still got the rewards from Club Nintendo on top of that, giving you a double bonus for buying stuff and all without paying a $50-60 yearly fee for), so that helped me build up a library of free or discounted stuff very fast. It's why I have literally well over 100 titles on the system. Too bad they didn't keep that deal, so I hope they have something good for the new replacement program they're coming out with.

Yet to be determined as it won't be released for two more days in the states.

I have seen a comparison video for the physical copy with and without the datapacks. With the packs it loads at a much faster rate than without. I'm assuming it'll be quicker if you downloaded it digitally as it's all from a storage medium that doesn't require you to wait for the disc to be read.

Generally, loading from the HD is quicker than booting up the disc itself. It's been that way for a long while, prevalent during the last console generation with the PS3 and Xbox 360 with changeable hard drives.

I went for 2TB with my setup. However, that size is still kind of overkill for the system. I did it because the price was so cheap and not of price significance over smaller external drive sizes. It does still give you the warm and fuzzy feeling of having a drive that you feel you'll won't hit the limit for years and years. It doesn't really hit you how much that size is until you download a good number of titles that are 10-20 or so GB, only to realize that those aren't making quite the dent in the space as you'd think. Especially when you consider all those things you don't do with the console. (Like storing lots of downloaded Movies, Very large photo libraries if you take lots of pics like on a computer, or growing OS demand and patches taking up space on that drive.)

It's kind of like my PC with Steam, if I use a drive that is specifically dedicated just for game installs alone. The 2TB seems to last quite a while, even if you become a bit of a Steam-sale junkie.

This is an issue for me personally cause I cant stand english VAs in games anymore. That on top of being a lolamerican and them killing off character customization partly makes me less exciting for this game as a whole. So the part about Lin having more age was bs? because she clearly says she is thirteen in my game, the dub, the subs, was that change made in the american version only? and frankly, having her have more age would seem awkward, she is very childish most of the time.

By the way!! you can equip actual armour AND fashion equipment separately!! press X to see another menu when equipping items. The only exception are weapons, you will have to equip the ugliest ones if you want the better stats lol

The game throws you at areas with aggressive enemies that kill you in one hit, making you feel like you are in the wrong place all the time, and more often than not the quests given are just too hard to complete... unless I suck at understanding the battle system :\

I haven't had too much time to play it yet (the timing of the release happened to be just as Tech(Hell) Week for the Theatre production started), but I did get several hours in, so far.

So far, this game is beautiful in so many ways. Definitely pushing for my personal GOTY, despite the wish to have more facial character options. (eg. you can't have characters with bigger noses have small lips like my family does in real life (and incidentally my PSO character Tynselle Nbareh did in conception). Still, I picked what was the closest I can get, forgoing the ability for smaller lips to start.

I've been pretty good with the quests and I'm already getting to the point where I'm starting to fully control the battle system currently given. Choosing certain ready arts and timing your Soul Voice call timing (plus B-trigger prompts to increase effectiveness) can start to set the combos up. You begin to really have the chaining ability once you have 3 members including yourself. Once you do, you really start to take advantage of stuff like (Stagger->Topple->[Skills that do bonuses on Toppled creatures]) pattern (what I call the classic Xenoblade Chronicles combo). Or starting them with abilities which give your team the command to go ranged or melee, to help get one of certain types of combo starters to trigger. Take note of what your character commands to do between starting battle with your Ranged weapon vs. starting one with your Melee Weapon.

The AI is pretty good at following Soul Voice commands if they have the ability to. I can see intermediate and advanced players start to modify Voice command builds around their specific build strengths and party members they have. Thankfully, (for ease), the non-player created characters have fixed Soul Voices. That way, it promotes specific party builds for specific command chain or ability coverage. The concentration can be in changing your own to best support the party makeup, swapping members for min-max appeal.

Sunday morning, I got my division rewards. Then you suddenly become aware that when they talked about divisions, across the world, doing their duty for the survival of humanity, they cleverly meant both (in-game) and all the interconnected players across the internet in real-time. So I'm currently an Interceptor and Tynselle is definitely going down the Commando route (gotta have the twin guns). They were currently 3rd ranked, in points, though making 2nd-place on Saturday's daily rankings. I also now see my current Squad (32-member) mission while I'm on. When you come on, or while you are on, you'll also get Instant Message prompts that make you aware of whether a major thing happened within your squad or division, or that earned spoils for either multiplayer level, are ready to pickup.

There is also the live-multiplayer for 4-player teams, but that's probably to come much later. There are some squad style missions to join as well, though the standard squad hunt ones are automatically joined allowing you to optionally participate in them. The idea is to complete each objective in time for a nice bonus given to all players in the squad.

Take note that some missions might seem a little tricky this early, but it maybe something different than battle prowess that makes it tough. A number of early key missions have multiple approaches to your destination. One leading you through some tougher enemies to your goal, and some kind of back way method that allows you to skip such encounter. Once of them I decided to do a bit of grinding of battling enemies in the area only to find that I could've went this other way where I didn't have to fight multiple slightly-higher level enemies at the same time, to do. In fact, one could avoid that specific fight entirely until completing the mission, and leveling up from it, to take them on for good EXP on the way back.

I'm starting to understand that it might be a common pattern (like suggested from Elma at the start of the game), that you have the tough-rewarding road, or the safer road with lots of decisions you make (or ways you find). But so far, so good. This is definitely giving me some Phantasy Star vibes, but also feels like you're a part of a military outfit on something like Pandora.

I won't post a wall of text about it, but XCX is game of the year to me for sure, and I only explored the surface of it. there's nothing exactly like this, and its surpassing every RPG I played.

Currently around level 20 and unlocked Squads. the soundtrack is very underrated and there is not a single track I don't like so far. And it's getting better with the Noctilium music I would say that despite not liking rap, the standard battle theme is the best I ever heard. It's very rare hearing a battle track that totally embraces the motivation to fight and savor the battle. It's different but perfectly fitting. I'm already accustomed to the NLA day and night themes too.

Throw in techniques and boomerang slicers, and this could be a perfect Phantasy Star game.

I really like the Scout system and battles get more interesting with 4 member parties.
I did one squad mission, but it's recommended leveling up more before doing them on a regular basis. Squad Tasks are cool and its easy to know what enemies nearby are related to squad tasks. The gamepad also has a grid with helpful symbols.

I better understand the probe system and the types of probes used can greatly assist with minerals and credits. there's so much phenomenol things to say about it. Even the character creation surpasses the minimum standards for decent character creation, and its great how easy it is to make a good looking appearance.

the battle system is outstanding. Perhaps my favorite battle system to date. So much intense experiences. There's absolutely no RPG with this level of quality for a world and gameplay structure.

being a part of BLADE also feels like being a part of something more than a mere faction.
it's one of the countless things that makes XCX more than a game.

There's also a way to change your character again after 5.

You're going to spend hours just exploring, because parts of the story requires having some continents around 20% surveyed and act as fast travel points.

If large open spaces are your thing, you'll enjoy exploring and climbing what you can see.

I can tell you haven't seen the half of it due to Chuggaconroy's report. He was still missing out on about 30% of discovery stuff when he was 168 hours in. And that doesn't even include the content he would see different (or different mission arcs) if he made different decisions along the way.

As for me, I haven't been able to play at all since day 2 due to my incredibly busy schedule which has me away from home all day and all evening, only to be home just to get some hours of sleep and leave again. However, sometime this weekend, I'll be able to continue. Either in the break between shows, or after Sunday's Matinee. Then I have about a week away from production work (after work) leading up to the 2nd show weekend.

Mind if I join the "Gush about XCX" bandwagon?

But seriously, this game is amazing. The scenery, the music, the gameplay, the 'Oh Shit, I'm being chased by an indigen twice my level' moments - this game is GOTY quality on those alone.

Level 28, after blazing through the first 7 chapters - the first 6 for a Skell, the seventh for the hell of it. Don't remember my playtime, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was nearing a full day of total playtime - or surpassing it, for that matter.

Really, if PSO2 was even half the game XCX was, I would not be feeling burnt out on it.

The only complaint I have about this game is the lack of the boob slider in the localized version.

So what Division did everyone pick and why? I spend a hour last night pondering and reading arround what would be best suited for me but I still am not sure with my pick. I went with Harrier cause I want to focus on melee attacks but I was also intrested in Curator and Pathfinder. Collectibles are always arround so that should be easy points and you can discover landmarks only once so Pathfinder would be better for that I guess.

I just don't want to end up regretting my choice even if you can change them on a whim.

I chose Prospectors as my division of choice after sticking to Interceptor for a while.

Mostly found the combat a little more eventful than I would've liked, ie. tyrants spawned and would attack me in the middle of a mission/affinity related target. Also, having 3 points per resource pickup towards my BLADE level is pretty nice when I'm just driving around in a skell.

Another note, finally airborne even if it was a test flight:

I'm still in the Interceptors group. I'm fairly happy with my first choice, so far.
I finally got in about an hour or two, last night. (Theatre hell week ended yesterday)

I got to do my first successful Squad mission, even soloing one of the five monster hunts. Had some crazy time doing a mission I picked up in the field, where I had to retrieve a comm radio that was lost. Finding it, the *lost* radio was literally a bit in front of a powerful Grex creature, just along the edge of its detection radius.

It was kind of interesting because it could be played either as a *fight and retrieve* mission, or a stealth mission, depending on how powerful you are.

Being of low level, the scary stealth approach was the only way. As you need to walk (not run) to try to pick it up (because you can't pick it up if you're in battle). If you do it just right, you get it, do it wrong and you're startled right slap dab in front of a creature that could pretty much OHKO you (not only that, but waking that creature wakes the nearby buddy to join in the hunt). The fact that if you run, their detection radius is much wider really puts on the pressure because I didn't know how close I could really walk towards the creature without detection. It's like finding out exactly how good that creature's vision is.

It was a bit thrilling, to say the least, and took me a several tries to do it, often ending with me Jumping off the side of a cliff and running for dear life before it can land a hit on me. Some of those tries were my attempt to run, grab, and run away, and it was my act of moving too fast that got me in trouble. I also figured out they don't like water. If I try to run on land, they can chase you a pretty good distance before giving up, but making it to the nearby lake can also save you.

Also, as another Cardiac moment, there is a Giant Titan Grex that often runs circles around a wide berth of that same area, and he moves super fast. His path actually passes by my approach to the item in question. Fortunately, when going top speed, it tends to have a little more tunnel vision. It's like seeing your life flash before your eyes, every time you are navigating just enough outside of its path, and you see that behemoth just dart and spring right past you clocking cheetah-like speeds. You sometimes catch it with the edge of your vision, disappearing so fast, it's like a split-second later you realize how close to insta death you were.

Anyway, got the thing, hauled butt out of there, and wondered how the NPC even could've survived leaving that radio out there.

That's what I've been doing since start while exploring places I should provably not explore at that point in the game, while some beacons are impossible to place either because you need to fly, or need mechanical lvl 5, or enemies with 20+ levels than you are guarding the point, others are only a matter of stealth, jump and run

Started Story Chatper 4 last night. I kinda wanted to explore more of the first continent before heading to a new one but for some reason I decided to go along with it afterall. There is just so much to do and the game is so big I haven no clue honestly what to do and just end up running randomly accros the field with no real goal in mind. Not that I hate that or anything, It's kinda refreshing you can just spend hours upon hours running arround randomly.

Nontheless, dat second continent man...this entire game looks so good ;;

Anyone any clue why Prospectors are always #1 on ranking and like 3-4x as much points as the #2?

Akaimizu
Dec 17, 2015, 10:57 AM
Not sure about the Prospectors, it could just be population. When you are free to switch groups, the classic acceleration (like consoles, in a way) is that people will tend to jump to whatever is popular.

I actually am primed to start Chapter 4, but decided against it due to my big mistake last night.

What was the big mistake you ask? Starting up a session too close to midnight that is.

Next thing I know, I'm set up more surveys and even popped into Noctilum a bit just in order to complete a particular Affinity mission. A rather difficult one, but was very worth it. It made me level a bit to complete it, but also got me into the next Classification of Commando, giving me some new damage and status possibilities from the side, along with a skill granting me a temporary Melee HP-restore per hit factor.

Running around and doing all kinds of various things, on the way. Then I look at the clock and it's like already 5AM and I need to be up in like 3 hours.

I poked my head into Oblivia as well, but got a bit scurred just past the first human outpost due to those *high* level Pterodactyl-like creatures guarding the valley passage to the place. Darn that new Jurassic Park for turning the Pterodactyls into the *new* Velociraptors of the series. I just felt like they were positioned to swoop down and drop my team in seconds, so I backed off until later.

Not that Noctilum isn't scary. It actually reminds me a bit of that Forest Zone passage in Final Fantasy XI on the way to Jueno. There are a lot more mobs, close together, that are all aggressive on-sight than Primordia for which it's easier to find more space between aggressive mobs. So there's more of that tiptoe just outside of detection range, in that space, between their detection cones. In one case, I had to sneak by (fairly close) to a monster, just hugging the wall to stay just outside of its forward arc of vision, sneaking under it's tail behind him, because there was no safe zone anywhere in front of it, due to monster coverage. (That time when you are so close, if that monster so much as turns, your group is pasted) Mobs with built-in horns can suck since their war toot can call in buddies to join the fight, from a good distance.

I also learned a technique through this. If your angle is to attack a monster, and hopefully draw them out away from a pack that is. Once you target a monster and start a Ranged attack staying at near range limit of your guns, hold R and D-pad down to make all NPCs gather close to you and stay at range with you. Afterwards, if you hold R and D-pad up, to tell your NPCS to concentrate their attack on your target; the entire team will simply whip out their ranged weapons, pace with you, and you become a distance firing squad. It's not guaranteed to draw out a monster, but it does work for monsters who pursue more. Some monsters are more *stand your ground* style monsters and less likely to pursue away from the location they're guarding. The main reason for this is that, by default, your squad tends to find opportune methods of surrounding your prey. But some fire off stuff that can hit or wake nearby foes when used from the direction of that mob. By having you grouped with distance weapons, on the side opposite of (mobs you don't want in the battle with you), those area effects tend to stay away from them.

I chose the Curators faction day 1 and have stuck with them ever since. Usually 2nd or 3rd place so i have no objections. I have a local friend who is in Harriers and he plans to switch to Prospectors b/c they are usually bottom, and b/c he like probably most people really want those Skell Tickets that covers insurance.

At the end of the day it was only a matter of time before the faction angle became broken. When there's really no penalty for changing (at least I don't think there is) of course a large group of players will sign up for the faction in the lead so you can get all the division rewards. Especially those players who were in say the bottom 4 on a weekly basis. I honestly to some extent cant blame them though

As a warning point gear up for a long fight in chapter 10. Even after equipping my team with skells and farming for skell gear, it will eat up a bit of time.

Start exploring Sylvalum when you get a chance, mostly recommend it after you get your first skell after chapter 6. If you attempt to explore Cauldros without a flight module, it'll be a tough ride. Or have a level 30 skell instead of the very limited level 20 default skell.

Hey, can anybody answer a quick question? Without delving into potential spoilers, would it be an issue to start playing XCX before I finish the original Xenoblade?

Or is there no real connection between the two?

Akaimizu
Dec 17, 2015, 01:24 PM
There is no real connection to the stories. Different worlds, different humans. The only connection (which isn't a spoiler, since shown in the previews) is that Lin wears hairclips in the shape of the Monado, from the first game. Also, the design of the individual Lifeholds might be familiar to those who played any of Monolith's previous RPGs (as they sneak that design into their games somewhere). The latter, not anything specific to the first Xenoblade Chronicles. It's also not necessary for any game enjoyment. Just a little Monolith fan-service.

So you could play either of them in any order. The basic on-foot combat system is similar between the two, so there's familiarity there. This is not a sequel by any kind of story or lore-wise. You are catching this from the beginning of its story arc.

I still tend to avoid fighting alot of times, I dunno why. I got a little over 20 hours into the game right now and am lv16 range. Might be the lack of healing arts or something, it's also annoying I can't revive anyone or get revived when they are downed. Or maybe you can but I haven't figured out yet how to. Kind puts me off trying to battle higher level enemies and the low ones barely give any exp. Doesn't also help they mix lv15 mobs between lv30 or whatever so I simply CAN'T fight.

Try to boost the potential stat of your characters. This will increase the effects of Soul Voice (which includes some healing during a battle). Also, you need 3000TP to revive a fallen party member. If your characters all waste it on auras or tp-heavy arts,
press + / start during a battle and tell them to "Keep your tension up!".

The level requirements taper down after 6. You'll be fine for the most part if you keep up with quests and affinity missions. I would say try to max out a couple of class branches just so you can equip whichever weapon types from any other class to make the best of some situations.

If you haven't yet, some arms manufacturers are acquired through both normal and affinity missions. It'll at least open up some choices of stats with either defense or evasion.

I am now sure I suck at playing this, ever since I got a Skell I've been depending on it to solve many situations, some of them I can't even imagine they are doable without a skell, and now I'm stuck in a cave (no Skell) with enemies my level (50) that seem impossible. Fact is, I'm extremely lazy to care to read the description of hundreds of arts and skills, the game is so time consuming in many other areas and I'd like to have that part made easy... I don't think my stats can be much better at lvl cap (60), so the problem is on my side.

I provably need to pay more attention to Overdrive mode... and provably equip myself with gear that boosts TP instead of HP. My classes atm (http://i.imgur.com/Q0H6zIQ.jpg), but I've only played with sniper weapons, and only spent Battle Points on its arts.

The most overpowered I've seen and tried is a mix of Duelist's longsword arts and Full Metal Jaguar's dual gun arts.

It relies mostly on the evasion aspect of dual guns with arts like Ghost Walker to make you untouchable combined with longswords Offensive Stance.

You'll want some augments as well or grind for certain weapon augments like TP gain with arts.

It's generally nuke everything while overdrive is active. You'll want to have high TP and potential boost augments. Potential is the damage you put out while using arts that use TP.

The general nuke eveything arts are Ghost Walker, Primer, Offensive Stance and Blossom Dance. Both Offensive Stance and Blossom Dance require 1000 TP each. Blossom Dance is obtained after clearing Nagi's affinity missions.

What I generally do is start with Ghost Walker, Overdrive, Offensive Stance, Tornado Blade, True Stream Edge, Zero Zero and repeat. My damage isn't too high as I'm trying to farm for things like Potential Boost XX. The idea is to keep your TP up while dishing out as much damage as possible.

I can survive encounters of up to level 80 solo, but the really massive creatures I don't stand a chance against.

Edit: This is an example of what you can do if you invest a lot of time into the game or farming battle tickets for some of the crazy damage augments.

I went with the Screamer sniper build to keep things asleep whike I nuke them down. One thing I like about it is that it's pretty effective against multihitting superbosses who could chew through Ghostwalker's six auto evade procs pretty fast.

This was when I farmed enough for two Ranged Attack Up XX.
[SPOILER-BOX]http://i.imgur.com/SxLAtxz.jpg[/SPOILER-BOX]

Its not without weaknesses though. It requires Soft Touch affixes, overdrive count ups, and TONS of debuff resist down against higher level superbosses. It is a solo only build unless your entire party has Soft Touch which is not going to happen without major farming and in multiplayer play. It's also ineffective against things completely immune to Screamer.

My skill setup depends on how much health a superboss has.

For when I can kill a superboss in one or two Slayonet/Afterburner rotations with a preprepared 100 count purple Overdrive: Beauty Sleep/Unpleasant Dream/Core Crusher/Combo Gunner/Ether Boost

For general play or if the superboss requires multiple rotations to down, replace Ether Boost with Secondary Accelerator.

Ok done, spent all my current Battle points on those arts, about equipment, went grenada on armour and upgraded max TP, once I reach lvl 55 I will watch this in more detail and add extra slots.

What are the passive skills I should use? I've only upgraded Aura Boost, Hellbound and TP Overdrive, I was thinking on upgrading elemental boosts in the future... once I have Battle Points again.

If that is the case then I will provably not bother much more once I've cleaned all map quests... I've been farming for Ares parts, beat the Vita 10 times in a row and only dropped the needed material once, been farming Reward Tikets too to get the rest of the materials and it's terribly slow, I don't even want to imagine doing the same for each weapon of said Skell. I will cross my fingers for XenobladeX 2 happening in the NX, it's obvious Mira hides many secrets (the language thing, the time-space anomaly surrounding it, the mimesome not so remote controlled thing... and we don't even know if they will be able to recreate humanity since the backup was non-existent... they only have DNA and a bunch of "minds" in the surviving mimesomes) and what about Yelv's final cut-scene with Eleonora?? I really hate those kind of cliffhangers...

OK, going to keep this direct, I'm glad I played XCX and bought a Wii U for it, something that's kind of crazy to do, but despite the multiplayer being below the standards (should have done a little more research on it, but still not surprised since 1. it's on a nintendo console 2. it's free to play online 3. of course they will cheap with server usage), I'm glad I played it, but of course I would not recommend getting a Wii U for it unless you are extremely bored like I was and totally interested in what XCX has.

Haha, it's funny that XCX's multiplayer is even below PSO1's standards. PSO lobby systm is a utopia compared to XCX"s multiplayer co-op, which feels more like an afterthought.

The most aggravating thing about the lobby system, is that you can only host a lobby for players to join for like 30 seconds, whille maybe it's a minute, but it feels soooo short, and worst of all, if the lobby time expires (haven't noticed a counter for it), the mission ITSELF expires at all. What a waste of friggin time. and if you run out of missions, you or or squardmates got to complete squad tasks to get more missions to co-op with.

I cooped with some cool people, but often it's just two of us, mostly because of the lame lobby timer, and the unfriendly matchmaking system, even playing in a Conquest Squad, the community is largely antisocial, and I don't blame them since there isn't even a proper lobby system or public text chat, just messages, which most are too lazy to type and use.

I once joined a hosted room, and because the host waited for ____ amount of time, the lobby expired before I could even go to the gate to ready up.

and there was another player that didn't ready up, didnt know how to ready up, and if I started the mission without them ready, you would do it solo.

Overall, multiplayer is a very passive thing, and the whole chat system is so ghetto.

still, the single player campaign side of things is phenomenol and shows more what RPGs can be capable of.

getting Skells didn't take too long, and with the way I used the frontnav system, it was not hard getting money to buy more skells and having miranium to keep them fueled.

Overall, it's a very emotional campaign with a jaw dropping series of scenes.

my favorite chapters are chapter 8, 11 and 12. of course things get a lot better after Chapter 5, though yea, over 90 hours and still haven't explored everything.

though the thing is, is it worth 100% all of XCX, well that depends on the player, overall
I got what I expected out of XCX for the most part, of course I won't make such a crazy investment like that again, unless it's something really better overall, but anyways
in my opinion PS4 is the better platform and has the better games, but XCX still mops the floor with all of 2015's rpgs, that's for sure.

Now lets see, should I sell Wii U? I'm already bored of it. LOL.

but seriously, I'm glad I played Xenoblade Chronicles X, the feeling wouldn't been the same if I just youtubed a walkthrough of it. this is definitely the greatest mech RPG and mech game to date, even when you don't have a mech for hours upon hours, it becomes a totally better game when you get them and the grind is worth it, especially for at least one lv.50 Skell. and the ground combat is still great too. I really like how fluid the combat is and you can even enter and exit the Skell during battle as well. out of all the Xeno games, XCX has the best combat and I like this mech combat more than the Armored Core games, but they really should have added a dedicated cockpit view mode for this, not just for critical hits, but yea it's still has a lot great things about it.

I like the difficulty curve as well, even the final battles are not too hard (but there was this mega super hard boss that took some planning to beat).
XCX is a more complete and incredible RPG than what Final Fantasy has been doing the previous gen (and this gen as well since FFXV looks horrible in concept, and FFVII Remake is going to be released in chunks.)

Well, time to play more FFXIV.

I have 400 hours so far and beat the main story a while back. Done almost all I can but still want to play.

Wii U has sorta given me SEGA vibes this gen. Mario Kart 8 has elements from Sega Racing Transformed and Splatoon has JSR vibes. Then we have XCX. Not only does this sci fi RPG have vibes of PS but the situation why the series exists is similar. SEGA needed an RPG to compete with Final Fantasy on NES and SNES. PS came to be as a sci fi alt to FF. Wii and Wii U lack FF and needed a RPG to make up for it and we got a couple of Sci Fi RPGs.

The online part I haven't even touched it... I've tried a few global nemesis alone... I beat one life at most at the yggdrawhatev, and managed to deal 10 million damage to Telethia and the time run out or it killed me and couldn't do a thing without previously build up Tension. I would have cared with online play if at the least it let you walk around, even if it's only from point A to point B, but sadly it's just an arena were you have provably beat all enemies in seconds, and then the mission is over, not really worth the time trying to make a party.

Back in the game and doing some normal and affinity missions currently. Just did one that was in Noctilum which had me surveying unusual plants, it also ended with a fight. One that required a very special approach to any one around level 20-21 or so. Basically, it's a fight which you can only really do in the Daytime. If done at night, you will most certainly attract the attention of a floating lvl 50 creature which can instantly rain down an area attack for over 12K+ damage at once. Needless to say, that's an insta-wipe.

Not only that, it's pretty much only possible if you attack the group of little guys in the front of the boss creature and pull them so the Boss creature doesn't join in. Take care of them, then circle around the back of the Boss and take out 2 more of the small creatures so you can take the Boss alone.

Then you fight what is probably the toughest lvl 18 (non-Tyrant) creature around. When it takes 4 lvl 20s to take down a lvl 18 (non-Tyrant) and even then with members taking major damage at times (while doing slow damage on it), you can tell this creature was secretly buffed. It is a good test of patience though since even with skills and arts built up, you need go for combos using the secondary cooldown charge and not just the first one. That's to get past the damage reduction.

Needless to say, that part of Noctilum is beautiful. The artists were really working overtime here. Just the wonders that each continent not only has a unique look, they have various different areas that all look unique to each other. The mission is just past the 2nd forest area in mid Noctilum, in which a very different-looking flora and fauna presents itself. So instead of a dense rainforest aspect, in this spot it's almost like a magical forest area you'd expect Elves to live in. In fact, enough seems to accommodate humanoid forest folk that I'm looking around to find these lifeforms that must've influenced part of this locale. Haven't found them yet.

I'm still a bit shocked that such a massive land area is all handcrafted, but one can tell when things are computer crafted, and this isn't it. The actual amount of hand-drawn art to create all these areas probably couldn't fit in a reasonable art book. Almost every angle looks like it could be a painting. This area, at night, with the luminescent plants, trades one artistic idea for another when daytime arrives and spots of low-hanging fog move through the place, affecting the look, along with the lighting. Add in the Noctilum music and this is a place I could live in.

Yea it only counts each hex in the map, you may miss a lot of treasures and tyrants and have 100% completion, but a lot of them are actually part of a basic quest, and completing all of those, I believe, completes the hex in admin district (I'm missing one of those actually, a nasty boss from Cauldros, and I have 100% in that area). I'm also missing 1 normal quest from residential, to get the good end of the quest I actually have to beat Telethia, strongest thing in the game lol

Not to mention the amount of grind needed to make the Ares remotely strong enough to take Telethia down. I've already spent a large amount of time post game collecting/farming level 60 weapons/armor and materials for augments and I'm mostly done on that front.

Crafting the right augments so that my skell can survive for the ground fight with Telethia is a challenge itself.

Most of the big bosses? sure, most of exploration? nope, in fact very few places are Skell exclusive, and for me, the game has a completely different perspective from foot than from a Skell, but it's also true that some areas are made at a scale that's too cramped for a Skell (Noctilum) and others that are too wide and "empty" to walk on foot (Sylvalum/Cauldros).

Multiplayer, as it has been said in this same thread a few times, is almost non-existent, communication and party formation is awful, and the mission is usually dealt with in a few seconds, not really worth the effort of forming a party to begin with, other than global nemesis, which is a boss with huge HP, and all parties (or solo fights) count on defeating it during a period of time of a few days.

It's meant to be a difficult fight whether it's a level 60 skell with interchangeable parts or an Ares. You'll still need to farm materials for surviving against Telethia and its ether based attacks and the occasional damage reflection it does. In the case of Ares, most of its damage is ether and that can be an issue if Telethia throws up ether reflect.

To add on to this, there's also the fact that despite looking like an open region, invisible walls confine you to a very small area or cave system.

Nemesis missions are the only ones I feel that will take a bit of time or at least is readily made for the multiplayer experience, granted if anyone joins at all. Most times, I'll do them solo and only break parts off and end it there as there isn't a large number of players attempting them.

If the communication was somehow refined to where it isn't mixed in with the L+A spam and other random bits of "celica is best grill" it could work. Again, the communication is terrible and trying to chat with people in the squad is nigh impossible because of miiverse posts thrown in.

This is a tangent, but the fights on foot and skell is vastly different. If you rely too much on your skell for battle, your ground gear might not be on par with what you're up against. With that said though I prefer ground combat over fighting in a skell. I feel that I have a far greater control of where I want to keep a fight limited to. Most times I end up dragging a tyrant into an unnecessary fight when a stray AoE skill from the NPC's I bring end up being my downfall.

Yep. I'm totally psyched now. Gotta get back to the game. That is all.

Now take into consideration, I'm currently of a class and build which already has AOE attacks that can attract tyrants and stuff if I'm not always looking out for them. So I can say I'll have plenty of practice by the time I get a skell. Just that the AOE attacks from my Full Metal Jaguar class has too many advantages to the build. (Shorter fights for one since I'm now typically fighting groups of 3 now.) I also appreciate that one of the dual guns specials is a lot like a special first shown in Phantasy Star Zero, and continued in the games that followed.

Ok. One of the arts for Dual Guns is, Violent Streak. In that one, you basically go crazy and fire off your Twin guns, each individually in a different direction, performing a circular area of damage for a short to mid range distance. It will hit every creature in that area. When Phantasy Star went away from leveling bullets to the concept of giving Guns Skills in a way like Hunters do (like PS0), the Twin Mech guns had a somewhat similar animation, where you could performed a special that has your character shooting around yourself with the guns for a couple of seconds.

Dual Swords has a Electric Surge, which generates an Electrical Ether that shoots forward and hits enemies in a line. Violent Streak is not as controlled save for the max distance the shots hit. So to control (who) you hit, you need to be aware of the area around you and figure where your range ends so not to include mobs you don't want included. This also means always being perfectly aware if a Tyrant comes close. You also need to do that with Electric Surge, due to it's distance going forward, but at least that's only stuff in front of you (Or above your head).

The general idea behind the Dual Gun/Dual Sword mix is hard to describe due to the various ways you can build the class. You're given a choice as to how much you put between your melee arts and your gun arts (as with many others), but even within that, there are various flavors. I'll tell you my build.

My current build uses guns to do quick safe damage while giving me full positioning power away from some enemy's short ranged Bread and Butter moves. They are designed to feed my arts which Boost my TP. My TP is then turned around to heavily boost my Critical chance, Critical Power, and evasion (so enemies don't hit me so often).

One of my critical boosts can be stacked on the other while also throwing me into a stealth field. During which, I can trigger Dual Sword combo specials which get boosted damage from the previous ranged combos. A properly patterned combo has me tearing at monsters for thousands even in the low 20 something levels. Without it, the damage would be a good bit lower. I have one art which doesn't do a lot of damage, but weakens the enemy stacking fatigue. The advantage of its extended Cooldown bonuses mean I can do it immediately 2 or 3 times in a row.

The concept of dual swords and dual guns are nice, it doesn't hold well near end game and post game. I've seen it last a while, but that usually involves the usual post game farming like most other builds. If anything it's meant for sustained type of damage and debuffs, at least from my time using dual swords.

Ok. Got my Skell, last night. Named it Jasmine (which was Tynselle's Partner Machine name from PSU, PSP, and PSP2) My has she grown!! Gave her a multi-color green (with a touch of pink) color scheme. Though I may try to start mixing more orange and purple, with some green highlights to give it the official 420 model appearance which Jasmine had. Enjoying some new found freedom to venture into areas I couldn't before and of course, the huge speed boost in travel. (especially when it comes to water)

Don't have to. I'm loaded with money. As soon as I hit 30, I can get a lvl 30 skell with plenty of money left. I just have a couple levels left.

Hopefully, you have been farming some skell weapons and armor right?

Am I the only one that still travels by foot even after having obtained Skells? I just love to run arround and try climb mountains and such without just lolskelljumptothetop. I doubt I will touch my skells at all till im level capped so I can outfit everyone with whatever highest level gear you can get from lv5 shops.

If it's anything I do all of my fights on foot.

Arms manufacturers gear is pretty limited, the best traits on some of the default gear would be Treasure Sensor as it makes it easier to obtain better gear. Useful for hunting parts and so on, but lacking if you want to tackle some of the level 70+ tyrants.

I only really used the skell to explore like the 40% left of cauldros that I couldn't reach walking, provably because I was lower level and as such enemies see you at sniper distance and obviously I didn't survive... (then a few levels later you are practically invisible to them). So basically I got my first skell when I had already explored most of the map. And that's a good thing, because many parts of the map are... nonexistent to the main quest + secondary quests, so most of the experience is by exploring them by yourself.

Ce'Nedra
Jan 21, 2016, 09:59 AM
So far I did only use mine to get a few probes that I can't reach otherwise but that's about it. I really love that the maps are so big so I want to explore them fully on foot.

I figures shops wouldn't have alot of gear but it should last me enough till I could try farm gear from Tyrants, though I'd need to figure out where to obtain what. I guess I should try a wiki or something. Then again I have no idea yet how I want to spec myself. I want to try max all classes before figuring out what gear to get to try the real strong stuff.

Well, I went quite a while and explored a lot before getting my Skell. I took the long road so I have about 50+ hours of playtime in. It basically opens up some parts of the map you couldn't climb up to, otherwise, though you are still limited from the places only a flight pack can get to. One of the reasons I have saved so much money at this point. I still have to farm more, mainly for mats.

I've actually used shop items the whole game, both for ground and skell, I only started farming (drops or tikets) to get the Atlas post game. If I ever want to 100% the game, sure, I'll need a lot of farming, but I'm not in a hurry to come back just for a 0.85% (and if I do I'll provably start a new game lol)

Got Skellz?

And yep. Jasmine is sporting the PM 420 Colors. (When Partner Machines grow up) I'm using this skell because I like the look and best suits the Jasmine I remember.

The others are in Amdusias Skells. Nabbed them as soon as I had the level for it. Yep. I collected lots of cash before getting there.

Just remember that the Verus skell is pretty fragile. As much as I like the design for it, it doesn't live very long in prolonged fights.

You pretty much have to build around it, in my part of the game. For the time being, it's fine and there is another Skell I'm looking to use in the future, which (while not quite as much with the look) but has greatly increased stats and survivability. I'll transfer to that when the going gets rough.

I currently have a weapon on it which ends fights rather quickly. It also made short work of the biggest fight of Chapter 9. However, I have to admit, the on-ground fight in that chapter was by far, the HARDEST, fight in the game. Talk about a difficulty ramp, that was more of a difficulty instant sheer mountain. I had to level up to about 5 levels above it, make sure I had a party of 4 likely leveled, and with complete attention to how my party was was geared, skilled, and everything (not to mention using every strat in the book and a particular targeting strategy), and it was still a close fight. The skell stuff, (since I was just as prepared, and everybody geared with top-rank gear) was easy as pie for me. I got a sword move (I call the fight ender) which, in a good combo, can do 128,000+ points of damage in one hit.

blace
Jan 26, 2016, 03:43 PM
Which skell would that be? There is a level 60 version of the shop skells along with two variations on one type of skell.

The boss fight in chapter 9 was a spike in difficulty, but the next boss you need to face may prove to be a greater challenge.

Akaimizu
Jan 26, 2016, 04:17 PM
Don't remember the name right now. I'll know it when I see it, though. I'll get back to you. It's a shop skell, though I'll probably hunt for the researched Skells, too. I want to see if one of those, I can find, might even be better. My Skells did dominate the Chapter 9 Skell fight, but I'm not resting on my laurels. I'm still trying to see if I can find even better Intergalactic gear.

As of the next Boss. I'll be ready. Chapter 9 put me in Power mode, so I'm upping my game as if I plan to dominate the world. Before Chapter 9, I didn't have to get serious. But once a game puts the pressure on, it's on. Consider the seals, released.

blace
Jan 26, 2016, 05:29 PM
Don't worry about the researched skells, they only show after completing chapter 12 and are post game content. They're the level 60 skells I mentioned.

Chapter 10 pits you against a tyrant like boss that's similar to what you can expect to find dotted around the world.

Been leveling some classes currently as well 4th party members varying between Lao, Alexa and Yelv who are all 40. Elma and Lin are 48 and I'm about to hit 50 myself.

Found a nice spot in Primordia on the Third Rock Talon Teracce(sp?) where there are 2 lv49 Inferno Icus and a group of 5 lv45 Blattas. I just aggro them all in in my Amadus Skell and the exp and ranks just roll in. I did Enforcer in 30 mins from rank 1 to 10 and Lao went from 30 to 40 in the same time. Going for Galatic Knight right now, after that I only have Mastermind and Shield Strooper left to level, think I will do the later last cause it sounds most boring.

I won't have enough money to afford myself lv50 Skells yet though so I will keep using Amadusia's for a while and first upgrade my Ground Gear since I prefer combat with my actual character more anyway.

Think once I hit 50+ and get to Galactic Knight I will try story chapter 9 so I can get a flight module and reach the probes I couldn't yet so far. Cauldros is completely unexplored as well so far so I still have that going for me.

Here's something for chapter 11. You recall the skell I built and posted screenshots of? It's a boss, but it's only a prototype at that point in time.

As for Lao, he's the loner type and sets himself for situations that don't go entirely in his favor. He's still helpful in combat if you have gotten him that far, but don't dress him up too much.

There's an overused build I use along with most other people, but requires a lot of farming.

You need arts from Nagi and farm for gear that boosts potential. Potential Up XX and a Potential Boost XX.

I have 597 potential with my build and can deal up to 700k damage with Blossom Dance after maxing out overdrive.

Jan 28, 2016, 04:52 PM
Ah. Is it that one Ether Blossom Build? I may look into that myself.

I already have all the arts from Nagi, so I think I'm good in that route, but in terms of the gear I need for farming, I'm pretty low-tier in terms of that stuff. Any advice?

Farming tickets is one way and spamming The Final Menace for tickets is pretty quick. Gear I'd say wait until 60 to get because it's level 60.

If you prefer the grind, outfit your party with Treasure Sensor to increase the drop chances of parts.

Keep in mind you also get scaled down to lv35 for the Telethia fight :) I 3 manned Telethia with Blace before when Iw as in my 30s with the most fragile skell (the one you get as a gift) and I never got hit due to Blace having all the aggro from Ghostwalker. We tried to 2 man Ygg but I kept getting one shotted so we lost after 8 kills or so.

You could see if you can meet up with Blace and try to farm since he runs the Ether Blossem Dance build and its insane strong.

It's just an easy build to use, and overused by a lot of people in the community. Despite that, I rarely find others that could do that much damage or pull off the combo without dying.

There's even multiple build threads and videos out there that I'm surprised I'm just a small percentage of players that went that route.

What's your Nintendo ID or name that you use? I can try carrying for the nemeses, but Yggralith's weather effect always leans towards EM storm and can't be done for long without dying to the weather.

Telethia is an easy scenario ever since I created the Nullify Ether Reflect augment, so there's that.

Funny enough, after all the warnings I had for chapter 10, I ran some extra missions, but I decided to try it anyway. I guess I was right. My mech building before Chapter 9 was on fleek. I utterly had an easier time with that chapter than chapter 9. I was definitely well geared to take on that part of the story. It wasn't an absolute walk in the park, so I still needed some tactics in the fight, but we held out well and did it only losing one new mech, given to the lesser experienced 4th party member we had at the time. But nobody fell in that fight.

Anyway, I'm uncovering a lot of territory now, and I expect to run into a number of unexpected (expected?) friends now.

I really wish this game (mainly the physical copies) would receive a patch.

Not only have I experienced the well-known affinity chart softlock, but I have also experienced another bug:

All I wanted was to access the enemy index from the R&D menu.
Game says "No bruh" and sends me to the title screen.
50 minutes of unsaved data gone.
Now I almost save after every battle, hoping to avoid even more losses.

As for the Story, I loved every bit of it. I'm also glad I can continue to do any Affinity/Normal/Other missions after the Story. Unlike most other Sci-Fi themed RPGs for the last 10-15 years, this one pretty much explains EVERYTHING. Everything we see, the reason behind what certain things look like. Why character models look as they do, when those who never played the game far enough were harping a bit on them Everything. Heck, by the time it finally ended the last Story Cinematic, it answered a question I had in my mind earlier, in the Story. A question, I thought would never be answered because I thought it might not be involved with the main story arc. It all came to me and I finally felt a major butt-kicking revelation. Really? the game explained some things all right, but others were left in limbo.

[spoiler-box]Basically everything regarding Mira: why every sentient being understands each other just because MIRA, why there is no way to leave the planet, not by flight, not by time machine, and obviously why... what we discover in the end post credits, that we are actually NOT a memory in a hard-drive commanding a mechanical body, because those hard drives were destroyed in the landing, so why are your mechanical bodies alive, most of them with the host memories intact, and this also means that everyone that died and you thought "it's ok, the real body (actually a backup of their mind) is in some place and they will be back" are actually dead for good, and most important, will the human race actually survive in Mira? if the backup of people's minds was lost, maybe the backups to actually generate a human body was lost too, we know that at least kitties are saved, unless those Quimeras actually fried the process

Not to mention: why the planet seems to want those ships to land in it. I wasn't expecting to discover anything regarding the planet's past in detail (oblivias wreckages, cauldros' ruins) but seems that everything regarding Mira is just an added mystery.[/spoiler-box]

Yeah, I got that, in fact it's actually better explanation than "you lost your memory". You are a shell, alive, and for some reason you maintain the reasoning of an adult, instead of, for example, have a baby mind, for example. That makes me think that the mimesome actually stores some cognitive backup, but then, why not all? active mimesomes maintained it all, and MIRA (or PHOTONS) made the rest.

BTW, Yelv story is kind of another cliffhanger, basically Yelv was looking for his friend, but it actually was his previous body, and Eleonora has another body ready for once the current Yelv actually dies. It makes zero sense if we think the "real" Yelv (backup) is destroyed, like everyone's memory, unless Eleonora and whoever else is behind this knows that already and they are testing with stuff

Actually. I have one main theory about that mystery, and I'll cite events that possibly supports it.

Major possible spoilers. Don't read if you don't want spoilers.

One question I kept on having was what was with the major half-buried technology all around the planet, nobody could answer for. My theory is that landing on Mira was a one in a billion luck chance, or fate. I believe Mira is actually the planet of the big ancestors of the humans (or at least one of their planets). The ancestors the Ganglions spoke of. I also believe there's tech in the planet that is part of the big experiment similar to the same kind of stuff we had on board the Lifehold. Maybe better. I believe, when the White Whale crash landed, it was able to record much of the data from the databanks, but perhaps didn't save every memory in the proper place, and thus why you were affected where others weren't. I think only a selective part of your memory was pushed somewhere, but probably more back-of-the-mind placed. I still think you may be in a state to be able to regain some. The ancient tech in the planet recorded us. The idea that the planet contained a major technology similar to our Ark project seemed to also match the reason why when the Ark project wanted to protect itself, it created lifeforms that seemed all too similar to ones on that very planet. It also makes me wonder if the planet itself actually fired off some kind of similar Genesis, and may be responsible for some of the species we run into. I would imagine if there was another story, the story would be more archeological than anything, to try to uncover the secrets of the ancients and perhaps also figure a way to find where and how we can get our stored selves into proper biological constructs. The fact that we are so compatible with this planetary life tech, is why I believe it is of the great human ancestor race. The tech on the planet was pretty much also explaining why every race with language could understand each other. So I assumed they also had some kind of major universal *learning* translation built in. So I don't believe there is any anomaly. I believe it is all advanced tech. And from the look of it, a good percent of a planet-sized amount of tech. In some ways, the ancestors could be seen as gods, creators, or great ones.

Yeah, that's a possible deduction, but it's still something the game does not explain, so it could be a totally different thing.
