Changing the Race of Saved Characters?

Is this possible? I wish to create a new character using an old save file that I have, keeping all the dimensions intact. I only wish to change the Race from CAST to Newman. Is there a short method to doing this? Or is the only way to take screenshots of my old character and try to recreate everything? Personally I dislike spending hours in the character creator so if there is a faster way of doing so, any help would be appreciated.

From the phantasy star games i've played there's no way that I know of in which you can change a characters species. Although i'm almost sure I saw something from a while ago that said you could do something similar
