ambrai x`viento writes, "Today at E3, Nintendo announced that Phantasy Star Online will in fact be released for the GameCube. There is no ETA as of yet for the title, but we wait in anticipation. All signs currently seem to point at this being a port of PSOver.2 (not PSO2 as previously reported). We'll, of course, let you know when we recieve clarification!

It's not PSO 2 it's PSO version 2 so I think some of you guys are misunderstanding which version it is. I hope they make the DC version and the Cube version compatiable I think that would be really cool if they did that.

May 16, 2001, 11:29 PM
Dosen't matter, PSO will live on!!!!! :)

FINALLY, Nintendo seems to have their ish together on the GC, even though I have my doubts on Mini-DVDs, but I can't wait, I love Nintendo.

thats it, they ruined a great thing. You know that that game is going to have something diffrent than what is on Dreamcast, maybe better or worst. Why would they do that? Damn front runners.

May 17, 2001, 04:17 PM
Its gonna have 4 player offline mode with split screen according to IGN...no word on whether 2 or 3 people can go online from one game cube tho. Also we will find out durign the show if v2DC and v2GC will be online compatible

May 17, 2001, 05:27 PM
Once the Nintendo Marketing Machine touches it, Pioneer 2 will never be the same. Knowing Nintendo, they are going to Poke-fy the damn game. PSO Pinkal edition! Gotta Catch Them All!

May 17, 2001, 06:00 PM
to bad PSO on gamecube wont be online. hahaha

May 17, 2001, 07:37 PM
Idiot, it IS online. Where did they say its offline??

May 17, 2001, 07:39 PM
LOL, you guys can kiss Playstation 2 and XBOX's asses. You're just jealous because Gamecube will have the better games.
Hallelujah Gamecube!

May 17, 2001, 09:01 PM
i hate gamecube...i hate nintendo..i hate the 64 controler...i hate the gamecube controler (i have held it at e3)...nintendo is dead and so is PSO...PSO alone can not sell GC

May 17, 2001, 09:47 PM
You are correct, Nintendo suxs and so do thier systems.
Long Live Segata Sanshiro

May 17, 2001, 09:50 PM
Hey Nintendo ball licker, u sux and so does Nintendo, so just bugger off you Mag-M+F

May 17, 2001, 10:06 PM
It doesn't necessarily mean they ~won't~ have PSO2 on there later on!

May 17, 2001, 10:08 PM
Oh, yes, that must be it. Phantasy Star Online Version 2 for Gamecube without Online capabilities. That must be it. (Hello?! It's called "Phantasy Star ONLINE"!!)

May 17, 2001, 10:10 PM
Now THAT'S the important thing! Who does nobody else see this? Stop bitching about the system wars and just go get your PSO!

May 18, 2001, 08:30 AM
Yes, you're right. It is VERSION 2, NOT PSO 2. I wish people would read.

May 18, 2001, 08:32 AM
And just what would that "stuff" be? Why would you want to play PSO with a GBA without the analog control?

May 18, 2001, 08:42 AM
Umm, NEWS FLASH. Nintendo DOES NOT have anything even remotely close to a network architecture in place. I don't care whether "online" is in the title or not. Without any type of architecture set up, you WON'T be playing this game online. And if you guys knew anything about hardware, you'd know there's no way you can play split-screen games online over a dial-up modem. Use your friggin' heads. Currently, we as players still run into tons of lag, BSODs & FSODs with just one player playing over the phone line. Imagine what would happen with that tripled with 3 people playing split-screen & trying to get online. It's logistically impossible. As far as the single player online experience goes, unless Nintendo plans to use Sega's network (which is already in place), get ready for a very long & boring time of playing split-screen ONLY, at least until Nintendo decides how it's going to proceed with it's own online plans. Unless Nintendo makes some important announcement of this during E3, get used to split-screen.

May 19, 2001, 01:04 PM
Ummm..Newsflash. Nintendo is going to be using Sega's network. Do you think they would call it Phantasy Star Online and not have online support? Use your brain. They're using it(PSO) for a test run and if all goes well Nintendo may use Sega for other online games.

May 19, 2001, 01:20 PM
Oh! So you're one of those? *points and laughs at the people that actually think other people give a damn about what they think* Like anyone cares about what companies nuts you're on or your unwaranted hate for Nintendo. Who cares what system you buy? I sure the hell don't and either do most people. God, console loyalists are dumb. You do know Sonic Team is exclusively developing for GCN, right? So, let's say that PSO 2 were to come out on GCN; does that mean you won't buy it? I honestly wouldn't care what next generation console it's on, as long as I can still play it.

That sucks... Nintendo just isn't worthy of a PS game... Really... I mean... It MIGHT be acceptable if it were on the PS2... But Nintendo just isn't worthy of the spectacular series that is Phantasy Star. I am flat-out disappointed.

May 21, 2001, 09:39 AM
Idiot, just because someone says something you don't agree with doesn't mean you have to immediately call them a "Nintendo ball licker" that they "sux" along with the system. Nintendo has a much longer history with game making than Sony or Microsoft, and I don't think porting PSO to the GC is a mistake. It's a solid company, whereas Sony has only had 1 powerful system and Microsoft is starting from scratch. There's a possibility that these systems can fail, while Nintendo's history would assume that the GC will live a long life with tons of support.

May 22, 2001, 11:28 AM
I still don't see why people are bitchin' about the PS series coming to the Gamecube. We should all be happy that SEGA will continue the series at all instead of leaving it to die with the Dreamcast (sorry to say but after March 2002 SEGA will not be develvoping anymore DC games). Why would it be acceptable for the series to be on the PS2 and not GCN? Its really puzzling me. Ah hell with it I won't waste my time, I don't care where the PS series goes, but where ever it goes I'll be there.

I'm sorry, I just have absolutely no respect for Nintendo... Haven't ever since my cousin got a Sega Genesis back in the early 90s, and I saw how profoundly better Sonic the Hedgehog was on his console, next to Super Mario World on my Super Nintendo. Now, Sony on the otherhand, for some reason, I have a bit more respect for. I suppose it's because I've seen how good the Final Fantasy series was on the Playstation (which, oddly enough, has a massive load of RPGs on it for some reason...). Albeit, I don't think any company will ever gain the respect from that Sega has.
