Microsoft announced today (http://www.xbox.com/en-US/community/news/2006/1012-downtime.htm) on the official Xbox web site that scheduled maintenance will be taking place on October 17th, starting at midnight PST. The outage will effect both the Xbox Live service and Xbox.com web site and is estimated to bring them offline for as long as 24 hours. Services are planned to resume on October 18th. This is unfortunate news, as it falls right in the middle of the upcoming Phantasy Star Universe open beta event (http://www.pso-world.com/phantasy_star_universe_xbox_360_beta.php) (scheduled to begin this weekend and end on the 18th).
