The very first footage of Phantasy Star Zero has been released!

Aside from this, images from the latest issue of Famitsu surfaced, revealing new bits of information on the upcoming DS title. I took a moment to translate what I could make out, though some details are a bit sketchy due to the blurriness of the picture. I'll be sure to update this post as I am able to clarify any of this.

Two story characters have been revealed: Salisa (newman) and Kai (human). Salisa is described as "a young girl from a forgotten race" while Kai is called "a veteran Hunter."

Photon arts are confirmed for the game, explaining the presence of a PP gauge in previous screens as opposed to a TP gauge. When PP is used with a weapon, a "charge attack" is performed, otherwise known as a photon art. The style of attack varies depending on weapons.

One new technique was revealed: Alresta. This heals all party members within a certain radius of the caster as opposed to Resta which heals only the caster. It turns out that Alresta is simply a "charged" version of Resta.

Newmans were born on the moon, and are a good-natured race that had been long forgotten.

As with Phantasy Star Online, the background music in Zero will change when enemies are encountered.

The story mode focuses on a group known collectively as "The Hunters." They discovered weaponry based around photon energy from an ancient civilization and now are using those weapons to fight back against a presently unnamed enemy.

Ohhh I saw an evasion move twice in that video. Now all the game needs is counter attack, block, and jump. If only it was not on the DS as I do not have one.

This game looks amazing for a DS game, just like Tales of Innocence. I just hope it can handle online play with no problems. And no more of that "Offline and Online characters are seperate" crap. >_<

Oh wow, this game looks really good! I could care less how old my character looks. Besides, I'm going to be a CAST anyway. I just hope the story isn't too deep, or else I might have to wait for this to come out in the US...

Not to nitpick, but before this, all they had to show for themselves is PSO and PSU. If they were going to mention PSP, they should have noted Blue Burst, PSO v.2, +, and PSO episode 3 as well.
Some of this sounds pretty funny. I'll give the game a look when it drops in price.

Im sorry. The game looks like crap. Someone just slapped the name PSO on it and made a s#@$y attempt at a game. I would of rather had a direct port of the original pso w/all of the episodes on to the ds, and i bet you it would look a 100 X's better then this game. This looks pretty cool and all, and I'm excited for it. But, I'll feel more comfortable when Sega announces when Phantasy Star Portable is coming out in the US. I bought a PSP, because the Sega of America president said that PSP is coming out... it's just a question of when not if, and then like a week later they go ahead and announce PS0. This looks pretty good, I've owned a DS for awhile, but I plan on buying both PSP and PS0. I don't feel like importing either because I've had to go through games in japanese before, and it was frustrating since I don't know any. Ok, I'm going to go play PSU and forget about these games for now...

Well since im a big fan of this kinda art style... that is what was making it ok at 1st. but now it seem kinda interesting. i may get it. but i wait untill the US one comes. its now thats good that i can't wait. still in debating if im gonna get it or not anyway.

first off, as far as the game graphics and character designs go, im not too focused on that, the game itself looks really fun. though i said this to my friends when i told them that the way the game looks is almost like FF crystal chonicles: Ring of Fates. compare the two, and RoF looks pretty fun to me, this game is no different, especially since is Phantasy Star. the difference between Final Fantasy and Phantasy star is, the spelling of Fantasy, and the fact that i like phantasy star A LOT more.
side note i think its cool that Gonzo is doing the animations for this game.
lastly, wouldnt it be messed up if they decided to wait on PSP so that they can release PSZ and PSP at the same time in the US? that would be pretty funny. lol

I'll be honest with you. I don't like anime that much, and this game is too much like one for me to want it. Phantasy Star or not, I'm never going to want to look like any of those characters do, or have anything to do with some of the other crap I saw there. Maybe I'll get this, but I still don't know..

They brought back the old look for androids and that's what matters to me as far as character design goes. Now all I can hope for is that the game is far more similar to the vastly superior Phantasy Star Online style of gameplay than the photon art spamming crap you'd find in PSU with its obnoxiously anime stylized characters and dialogue.

The only 13 year old on here is you boy so i would watch you dam mouth & show some dam respect to your elders boy. PSO was garbige compared to PSU. you just living in the past like i said get over it. It got boring and died like the Dinosars did. only thing PSO had beter was bosses / the lv1 try to survive Mission to make your own wepons with your name on it. Loby chairs & finaly the Mag lving system. PSU has beter in all these catagorys - story / events / missions / lobys / persional rooms / crafting / chat comands / sound effects / grafics / Music / charcter customization 10000000000000% dam beter / No Hackers / No black screen freezing / No Charcter coruption / No Duping / No max stating / No 9999999999 Infint Duped mesta. Partner cards / Job classes / Lv PA system / huge area's to explore In PSU / not 8 pathetic area's like PSO did. Worlds to go to / and the one i like the best is the 0% Tolerance to ppl Cybering & Racism spaming on PSU. PSO was VERY BAD for Them two dam things. You can have your childish hand held PS Zero. Fact made for children not Adults. man forcing my hand to school you like this boy . mabe next time you will lern to show respect and not disrespect others.
