In early November, Sega announced a 40 game compilation pack (http://www.pso-world.com/news/0232-genesis-compilation-pack-announced) called Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection that will include all four original Phantasy Star games and improved graphics. After the announcement was made, some users were left wondering whether the compilation would use the Japanese "Generations" updates or the original versions. It was revealed through screenshots released last week (ftp://segapr.segaamerica.com/SEGA_News/Sonic's%20Ultimate%20Genesis%20Collection%20Screen s%20-%20January%2013th) that the original versions will be used. The new screenshots also give a good idea of what to expect from the graphical improvements. Here is one thumbnail example:

The "improved graphics" is just a crappy filter, but I believe it has been confirmed this can be turned off.

GIVE IT TO ME NOW!!!!!!! those legendary rpgs are the once getting me in to rpgs... much, much better than both pso and psu...consider me an old gamer who remembers the golden era of the 80s though :)

"much, much betther than both pso and psu"

Don't let anyone hear you say that... they could lock you up in the looney bin. :) The original Phantasy Star games are really good, but PSO and PSU are the stuff of legends... imo. I can't see myself sticking over 500 hrs into a classic RPG, no matter which one it is. I am getting this collection, though. Mainly for Phantasy Star (I, II, III & IV) and Shining Force (I & II).

Can anyone confirm this? I would rather play these games in their original pixelated glory.
