New ratings posted on the ESRB web site (http://www.esrb.org) confirm that Dreamcast title Sonic Adventure will be making its way to Xbox 360 Live, Playstation Network and PC sometime in the near future. The ratings database currently lists both Sonic Adventure and Sonic Adventure DX, each earning a rating of "E for Everyone." Sega, however, has not yet officially announced the title.

http://www.pso-world.com/images/news/06-07-10/sonicadventure.jpgIn an interesting twist, Sonic Adventure previously appeared in the database of Korea's Game Ratings Board, alongside of another hugely popular Dreamcast title; Crazy Taxi. While Crazy Taxi has not yet been rated by the ESRB, it is probably safe to assume we'll be seeing it there eventually.

Could this be a sign that more classics from the Dreamcast's library will be showing up as digital titles on 360, PS3 and PC? Based on Sega's recent and publicly revealed (http://www.pso-world.com/news/02262-sega-west-restructuring-layoffs-and-new-focus-digital-distribution) shift towards digital distribution, we're leaning toward "yes." The question is, however, what titles will we see appearing next? Shenmue? Powerstone? Jet Grind Radio? Phantasy Star Online, perhaps? There are certainly enough great games to choose from, all yearning to make the leap to modern day platforms.

Hopefully, we'll be seeing some official announcements and additional product reveals at the E3 expo this year, which kicks off in about one week. In the meantime, make your predictions now so you can say "I told you so" when all our hopes are ultimately realized or crushed.

If it's released on Steam, I want it, I want it, I want it. :3
(My dreamcast doesn't work well anymore, it reboots during games)

Agreed. Although I do have both for the gamecube, I'd hope that the Wii's Virtual Console gets these at some point. There are plenty of classics on dreamcast that I'd like to try.

I don't think these will ever be released on Wiiware, because of the file size. The Dreamcast used disks with 1.2GB capacity (GD-ROMs), most likely games like Sonic Adventure are bigger than what the Wii supports (512MB).

*Raises eyebrow.* That's... Surprising.

Someone with a dev console released this awhile ago. It also appears that other blogs are "officially" confirming that it is coming to PC, PS3 and XBLA. Who knows if they're legitimate, though. I'd rather see the official source.

Dangerous game of 1 player Twister - Sonic was playing - back in those cover posing days. The Dreamcast, constantly thinking, but also: plotting, planning, counting down to a comeback?! We've seen the return of the Dreamcast era Virtual On to XBLA already. Jet Grind Radio, plenty of good soundtrack choices, but with custom soundtracks = graffiti tagging heaven.

If you visit esrb.org and click "search" to view recently posted ratings. Sonic Adventure is the most recent one listed and it also lists the platforms that it is rated for.

Sega seems to make alot of money putting old games back on the market, just look at how many consoles you can buy sonic 3 for in one form or another. If its one thing I'd kind of like them to re release, it would be PSO for the 360 with a way to connect to freinds directly without a server fee, but then again I guess thats what Phantasy Star Zero and PSP1/2 is for XP.

Whatever they release, let's hope that they're also working on GOOD sequels to some of these classics.
It's time to make some craAZY MONEY!

Nice that they are reputing old DC games on the current gen consoles with the online services but didn't they had DX version of Sonic Adventure on PC released before?

Yes, DX was released on the PC before, but it was only on retail (which means there's possibly many places where it wasn't even available). Looks like it'll be available through digital download this time, which is, in my opinion, a way better option than retail (since it doesn't depend on availability issues).
Plus, if it's going to have the same features as the XBLA version (leaderboards, DLC, achievements), those will be welcomed additions.

I like it. I haven't played Sonic Adventure in a good while. I'd definitely be psyched to play it on the new systems. I still have many fond memories of Eggman's ship fortress. And of course, more of the goodness that was the Eggman voice actor, of the time. Deem Bristow. Best Sonic-universe voice actor ever.
