As one who hopped aboard the PSO train later than most, Gamecube was my platform. However, on the whole, Blue Burst, yo.

Blue Burst, in a technical sense, was the best, hands-down. It never had the popularity of the versions that came before it, though. It was too little, too late. That said, I think I had the most fun with DCv2. I think that was the best era, though the GameCube may have held the best of both worlds, with some of Blue Burst's features (Episode 2, chiefly), but still riding on the Dreamcast versions' population. Damn I miss those days.

If you're trying to choose one of those two versions to play today, then I'd go with the GameCube version. You might go find a Blue Burst server to play on, though. Socialization makes the game a great deal better.

I was first introduced to PSO on v1, but the addiction didn't hit me till I played it on GC. Even when I burn out and not touch the game for years; that itch comes crawling back.

So; for me, PSO Ep. 1 & 2 for the Cube is my personal favourite.
