View Full Version : How many of you have bought AC cash and why?

I am thinking of buying AC cash but I want to know the reasons you had for buying AC cash.

I figure a AAA game is about $60 so that would be 6000AC but do you think phantasy star online 2 is a AAA title?

How much have you all spent on your own AC cash purchases and what did you buy?

Some Skill Trees ...... (4 Gu, 1 Ra, 1 Hu, 1 Te, 1 Br, 1 Fi)
Sometimes premium (3-4 times maybe so far, ever since cbt) to get weapon passes.
1 Chip Scratch in PSO2es (mistakes when it should be drawing using Rappy coins, not AC)
1 Doll (derping again, when I should have gave up the XQ)
3-4 times buying bundles, I think (500yen tops each .... 100yen once, I believe)

I think that's about it ...... All before Ep4 though.

Well, it certainly the longest game I played (due to no PvP content and availability of Dual Gun) ....... so yea, my expenses so far ...... not gonna regret it (except for those 2 derp mistakes)

Back when I thought the game was worthwile and NOT a piece of utter shit, I bought AC to get me some of dat premium. Had it for about 7-8 months on my new account (couldn't access the old one anymore) and it made life ingame more comfortable.
If I had some AC left, I would use it on scratches.

But now I've pretty much given up on the game.

I don't think PSO2 is a AAA title, but given the number of hours (going on 10k) I've invested into it already, I don't really blink twice at spending money on it. Aside from premium, nearly all of my AC purchases have been toward one time expenses like skill trees and mags.

I think I spent around $15 on extra inventory space for my main, since that's pretty much the only thing in the AC shop that doesn't rub me the wrong way.

Total 4100AC on 2 mags and 7 skill trees.

Aug 22, 2016, 10:58 AM
I'm not too sure of the total, but I have been buying premium on and off since launch, and I have played the AC Scratch a few times, as well as buying some skill tree and inventory expansions.

I used Web Money until PSO2es came out, and I've been using that since.

PSO2 is far from an AAA title, but I've spent at least two thousand hours on this game by now, so I have no regrets. I still like this game!

I bought 1000 AC once. Spent it to get a second mag (which I barely use) and an esthe ticket - that was over 2 years ago when the tickets weren't given willy-nilly yet.

In hindsight it feels like my investment was pretty poor but eh. Not the worst choice I made regarding throwing money at a MMO. Far from it.

I don't want to think about how much money I've spent on this game right now.

I've bought a LOT of skill tree tickets, inventory expansions, premium time, and occasionally something extra like crafting slots for my main. I never spend money on AC scratches or star gems. All in all, I've spent about $400-500 on the game in total. I figure I got my money's worth out of it considering how much playtime I've got.

I keep premium up when I'm playing a lot, I've purchased a handful of extra trees for my main spec, and I expanded to 150-slot inventory.

I don't usually spend anything on F2P games, but PSO2 makes small purchases feel pretty rewarding, so I don't worry about it too much.

I've only spent enough AC to get my inventory slots up to 100. Never saw the need for Premium, and I've been playing since Ep1.

Premium is totally just for convenience, there's not much you gain besides a few boosts or extra perks. I guess that's one reason I like this game, whether I'm buying premium or not, I never feel like I'm losing anything.

I've spent AC on some premium, some character slots/mags/skill trees, and it's still a lot less money than I spent in PSU paying monthly subscription for 3+ years (+3 copies of the game because 360 eats discs)

I buy premium once or twice a year, and I've bought an inventory expansion and a character slot. Might buy one or two skill trees if I ever feel like it. Premium is nice to have sometimes, but it's all about whether or not you want to invest any actual money into the game.

I bought various skill trees, inventory expansions, new characters, mags, and utility things like that. I was mostly always premium as well. My AC spending stopped completely when Episode 4 hit, as did my premium. I may consider buying another skill tree for force soon, but that's about it.

I've spent A LOT on this game:

1)Got maxed number of skill trees (Currently have 7 hunter trees, 4 fighter trees, 5 ranger trees, 3 gunner trees, 2 force trees, 2 techer trees, 2 bouncer trees, 3 braver trees, 1 summoner trees).

2) Bought 5 mags.

3) I used to buy premium every month, but stopped; now I only get it when I need to do something.

4) I've probably spent over $1,500 on AC scratches, not sure, but I know I spent a lot on scratches.

5) I used to buy temp storage but stopped.

Edit:

6) Also bought inventory space to 150.

While PSO2 is not my favourite game by any stretch, there's no denying that I've spent more money on it than on any other up until now.

Things that I've spent my AC on include:

- Skill Trees. Especially for my various Force characters, but I've done so for my melee types as well.
- Extra character slots.
- Character inventory space. Only for my most used characters, but I may very well have spent more AC here than on anything else.

I've also dabbled with scratches here and there, but only on the ones that really interest me; the recent FFXIV and revival scratches are examples of this.

Rarely have I invested into premium, although it's certainly a convenient thing to have if you play the game a lot.

Strangely enough, I've only ever bought a single Extra Mag ticket.

How much I've spent on PSO2 oh boy I dread to find the answer for this one.
One sec
checking
Assuming I didn't add up my history wrong I have bought a grand total of 68,400 AC. How much I spent to get that much is impossible to tell since initially I bought through Arks Layer but eventually switched over to just buying it through es.

As for what I've bought well. Prem, Mags, Trees, Character slots(have 4 from initial 2), AC scratch, SG, inventory slots, and revives.

As for what I don't buy with AC anymore. Well revives, SG, inventory slots, character slots, and mags.

For a game that I've played about 3562 hours of I would say that I don't care all that much with the amount I've spent.

I maintain around US$10/mo to support the game. Most of it goes to premium but some kitty scratching, skill trees, mags and bank expansion

I will say that usually when you buy a triple AAA game, you usually have in mind that you will not pay anymore to play it a few months down the road... 60 for a life time of ownership compared to 15 every month...

Of course, there's almost always more content in MMOs than most AAA games, even if so much of it seems like grinding...when you expect players to play every day, from 1-6 hours, not including those absolutely obsessed, they're gonna get more things done in game than some one playing a game like Skyrim, when you count the amount of days one will keep playing...

What I am really getting at, is it's kind of hard to compare the value that way ^^;

As for me... I mostly buy premium for my friend and myself...but we've only done it twice and I had a premium from the deluxe set when I got the Vita version(wanted to save some memory card space ^^; ).

Other than that, it has been some "necessities", like more inventory space and additional mags. The only other purchases, that I can remember, are trying out a scratch for fashion, and once on ES due to curiosity. Last was a fourth character I need to play more ^^;

I can't say I've truly spent AC on anything that can be obtained in game, other than fashion, which...still requires at least some one to spend AC for XD;

I still have 250 AC laying around .w.;

Since playing from January... I've spent I would say... 80 maybe? 100 at worst... Paying for two people's premiums is rough... Counting the 'free premium' from the deluxe edition in there since I counted that part of what's being paid for rather than a "bonus". Have really no plans to spend anymore any time soon though ^^; Premium can wait till desperation.

If you should aim for anything AC wise...I would say inventory is the best investment...10 permanent slots, up to 100 total inventory slots(basic 50+50 AC)

No one told me that. Where was that info stuck, in a tiny little corner in a far off galaxy?

I should also note that I have never really felt like I ever needed more than 100 personally. 150 might be over kill for some lol.

That's keeping multiple weapons and fashion in at all times, except for magatsu.

I've spent money on AC, but not as much as some who have broken into the thousands with it.

I love having 150 Inventory Space on my main. :) Lots to do with it.

I haven't spent money on AC in a long time due to many developers running B2P sales at 50 - 75% off during each of the major quarterly updates. Last time I spent $50 on buying the GW2 expansion + The Elder Scrolls Online (2 games together for $50) instead of buying AC. I realized the reason some people weren't buying games is because they were spending through their favorite games with micro-transactions, so before I spend any money on AC, I usually weight it against everything else...

for example....
Is it worth buying premium for three months? Or is it better getting into a new game paid through Steam?
I always ask myself this as depending on what one plays or how one feels, either of the two can be an answer.

Finally, I go as far as tracking my spending to ask.
"Should my money stay in the U.S, buying a domestic product and recirculating the money itself into the economy... or should my money go overseas to Japan, who hold a very high Anti-Foreigner presence?" For the mature, this question is actually a very important one. A vested interest in something isn't bad, but I know people who live in the U.S who will spend most of their money in a single foreign nation and that actually hurts the domestic economy when many people in the area engage in this behavior simultaneously.

I remember when being invited to a room in order for a player to scratch for a costume that was expensive that she wanted. She spent $120 on getting the costume and accessories, hair, etc.... My cosplay group put together that costume and all its parts for $88.51. Of course she can't complain... She sold everything else for nearly 200 million.

I only started buying Premium recently, and I still only buy once every so often. I also usually only Scratch if there's a 100 AC Scratch Ticket in stock, but I spent $20 on the last Scratch, because I fell in love with the Novi Katze set at first sight. I haven't really bought any expansions either, but then I spent $9 on Crafting Lines for one of my alts.

Tangentially related, but I do buy merch, which comes with virtual goods. So it's a little like buying AC, but you also get a physical product.

I worry about people who can go up to a hundred dollars trying to get an item in a gacha.

I've only played the scratch enough times to count on one hand, mostly just to see if I can get anything nice for some of the extra AC I may have hanging out there. I do plan on trying with the PSU scratch though, for once in my life, I need to try to get the Karen voice ticket and hair...

And on the topic of physical merch, I've only bought the Deluxe Set with the Karen and Ethan costumes, and the CD for the Anime OP. I would have bought the CD anyways though, as I'm a fan of the guy who sings it.

I had only bought AC via PSO2es and the things I had spend them up are on permanent upgrades.:

1- Several skill trees including trees to set the class only as a subclass.
2- Mags (1 of the MAGs was because I messed up my 1rst MAG.)
3- Recently I bought inventory upgrades to not waste time (most of them from seasonal special offers)
4- Premium when huge events happen and all blocks gets full. Also I use them to turn all those worthless 12* weapons in tickets (There's 12* weapons that will rarely sell in shop and even less now with the collections.)
5- Scratches when they are very good only and when I had AC to spare. (AC will expire in 1 year btw.)

It was added with episode 4, together with the character storage and its expansions (up to 1000 per character? can't remember). In the end even 150 fills with trash if you go do that crappy fishing and mining.

I was expecting my total to be a lot more ridiculous, only to find out it was... about less than or equal to paying for a WoW subscription over four years (minus any extra mounts, realm transfers, or other paid stuff.) About $600-$720 or so. I guess the additional characters (the HUGE number of additional characters) and stuff I've paid for makes it feel like I've spent more.

Best investments are extra inventory slots, at least two additional characters for TA/XQ Client Order revenue, and maybe extra Mags/skill trees for alternate class combos on the same character.

Aug 24, 2016, 12:37 AM
Inventory Slots +100(for a total of 150 slots)....convenience and WAY less bothersome...some EQ overflood your inventory and even storage(magatsu EQ weapons and Darker den for S-ATK,R-ATK,T-ATK disk lvl 11+(aka craft material)

Character storage..i expanded mine for an additional 100 being a costumes hoarder

Mags....2 extra to play all class nicely(to have S-ATK....R-ATK and T-ATK mags those 3 type are important).....I,am considering 4-5 for testing or fun purpose(Defensive mag,Dexterity mag(for bouncer//braver classes combo))....you could get extra mags if you wanna unlock multi-appearance but totally optional...but in my case I wont go for 6+..not that interest by the basic mags appearance so imma pass on that

Extra characters....ok here is 2 reason for that extra mesata from khloto weekly co's....and craft materials....

ok so if you want to improve your mesetas gain having alts is rly neat for it....but here the hic....do you have the time and energy to handle playing more than 1 character and clear all the co from Klhoto ?

craft Material....initially you get to pay a small cost b4 getting the income(aka unlock some recipes)..unlocking the 3 craft line by hitting lvl 15 craft.....purchasing the 3 perma slot with ark cash....well the ark cash craft line is optional but is also convenient to not annoy you(aka clear all the daily in 1 go instead of having to wait 1-3 hours for the baseline craft line to recharge

you want to be at least able to clear 3 craft daily to collect the income
S-ATK disc(10-20 gain)...acquire from the first craft daily cleared(if the proper set of daily show up
R-ATK disc(10-20 gain)...acquire from the second craft daily cleared(if the proper set of daily show up)
T-ATK disc(10-20 gain)....acquire from the third craft daily cleared(if the proper set of daily show up)...also the main craft material you want
that said....make sure to do your daily quests everyday to help unlock your craft achievements at free cost(well some of them)

having 10 character would mean 100-200 disk of each acquire in 1 day in like 20-30 mins only...1 T-ATK disk goes for about 5000 meseta on the player shop at the moment.....with 200 T-ATK disk that's 2,000,000 meseta ....well you can technicly drop price to concure against other player and get sure sales

or if you are more ambitious you can use those to become a grand master crafter(if you got some serious determination...if your the type to give up then I would go for the sale way for meseta

remember the set of daily craft rewards is different each day but it average to give you the discs reward every 2-3 days....and is usually the 10 disk reward..the 20 disks reward set is rarer.........you may also desire the armor crafts material as armor craft mats are quite difficult to acquire(that said a friend told me the NPC Zieg can give an affixe on your gear that increase the armors items that drop dramatically(I have yet to verify if that is correct)

Extra skill Trees, those are handy if you'd like to play all classes and want full out damage for them....and 1 for your friend partner(I give you the detail for friend partner later down)

Hunter Tree
Main Class DPS type
Main Class Tank Type
Sub-Class Support other classes

Fighter Tree
Main Class
Sub-class(forgot if it had something nice as sub class....sorry :D....cant check the tree atm as its maintenance)

Ranger
Main Class
edit: gunner only sub-class

Gunner
Main Class
Sub-Class(heard that chain trigger allow to pull off some nasty high numbers but I have to see that for myself)

Force
Main Class(only if your going to play with Talis otherwise go for techer for the extra gain from shifta or deband or both and that u can give your group and yourself)
Sub-Class...great to support a caster Techer(but if what I heard about Chain trigger is correct then Gunner would make a better sub-class than force)...I would suggest looking into it
Friend Partner Tree

Techer(you got plenty choice from this one)
Main Class Light//Dark user with points in Shifta only(combat versatile type)....for a fight like odin that has a time limit b4 he kill the group this would be better or if you like things to die really quick

Main Class Light//Dark user with points in Deband only(combat versatile type)...if you pick this one you will grant your group great survival but things will take longer to die.....for Ultimate quest this is a handful as things tend to kill players with ease..but it probably wont save someone that get chain comboed to death

Main Class 1 Element at choice with both shifta and deband empowered(support oriented but less versatile in combat)
Main Class Dark user,Wand Lover Build...aka melee Techer(goes in conjunction with hunter as sub-class)
Main Class Dark,Wind user with either Shifta or Deband focus at choice

and lastly the friend partner tree.....full points out in both shifta and deband skills...pick 1 mastery(light if your going to want it to put panic on mobs it hit and want it to perform better on bosses).......or dark to assign Ilmegid if you want it to be focus on killing packs of mobs scatter around
and unlike a normal techer tree...you don't need to put point in pp saving skills as the friend partner has infinite pp

Bouncer
Main Class Jet Boots
Main Class Dual Blade
no purpose as sub-class(its a bad sub-class)

Summoner
Main Class(not sure what build are out there for it...did a quick look only but none of the skills are good to help as a sub-class as they mostly focus buffing the pet)
bad as a sub-class

friend partner is a good help to your friends or your alts for when you are soloing....building trees specifically for it will make it really nice for your alts and your friend when you solo

premium......well...its nice but not exactly worth it much....more allowance to move to some blocks more easily....3 extra craft line.....not exactly helpful....the 3 baseline craft lnie + the 3 perma bought with AC is good enough.....premium room.....once your rolling yourself in ex-cube you should be able to keep your premium room up permanently by buying 3 days pass......excubes flow in quite easily when you trade the 60+ 10 stars weapons gain from 5 magatsu run lol(there goes your 3 months premium room pass gain in just 1 day lol)

your own shop...this one is a bit bothersome but if you got alts and storage room to store your items well......use excubes to buy fun point tickets.....use those fun point on fun scratches and you might get a ticket that let you open your own shop for 3 days....now is the time to sell your collected stuff..in addition to that you may get stuff you like to decorate your room !...and a billion grinders

now the main question....is it worth it to buy 10-12 stars gear on the players shop which is only possible with premium AND a weapon ticket ? I would say no...you will be fine buying 9 stars armor as your start up.....and if your active...well..gal gryphon has some nice 10 stars units to help you out until you can afford and hunt either Hyey///Brisa set......13 stars weapon are now falling like rain on you and Gal Gryphon units are easy to acquire :)

Costumes Scratches....totally optional...but if you wanna burn your money to try to get a costume your drooling on...here you go....burnt some of mine just last night in attempt to get persona suit.....I did get it but I lean more toward the shadow version as I like it more black(darker)

think that pretty much cover what I do with my AC and my reasons to do it....don't think I forgot anything......and for the lul I wonder if you can find who i'am in game using those hints XD Demon Horn(not the Dewman ones but the ticket ones),Headphone,Black Lipstick,Spell Mark on the eye.....and Ship 02......have yet to meet someone using the 4 same accessory as i do XD so unlikely to get the wrong person if you ask someone randomly :P....plz don't post my character name here if u know who this is :P

EDIT 2: here a bonus if your interest to help you in unlocking lvl 15 craft line quickly.....acquire the following....1-3 stars strike, ranged weapons(from the weapon shop only now)....7-9 stars strike, ranged, tech weapons....10 stars strike, ranged, tech weapon....1 rear,1 arm and 1 leg units.....once you have those.....start unlocking ALL of the achievements that's require only 1-3 credits only to acquire the chiev
total cost for that will be approx. 100 ironia,100 irodest,100 irogrimo,70 Irorias,70 iroams, 70 irolegs, 40-50 of each Disks(S-ATK,R-ATK,T-ATK).....having some Lilliparium will be quite handy to further boost the unlocking but that's optionnal

4-6 stars weapon and 11 stars weapons only come off as NT version now i think...which cannot be used to unlock your craft achievements...so you gonna have to look at the player shop for them and hope to be lucky to find a seller....if they don't go for extreme high price now.....BUT their achievements wont be a necessity to unlock the lvl 15 craft line as the above will be enough without the assistance of 4-6 stars weapons as well as the 11 stars weaps

EDIT 3: err forgot bout the passing from 3 to 5 collection file at once with premium which i would say is nice....my bad 1 thing i forgotten about :P

lets see...

for my main (pyrei), +2 hu trees, +2 fi trees, +1 br tree, +50 inventory, +5 mags
free alt 1 (azure) +3 fo trees, +1 te tree, +2 mags
paid alt 1 (violet) +1 ra tree, +1 br tree, +1 mag
paid alt 2 (stryker) +1 gu tree, +1 ra tree
paid alt 3 (daeinna) +1 te tree, +1 br tree, + 1 mag
free alt 2 (dainsleif) +1 fi tree, +1 bo tree
paid alt 4 (nina) nothing so far for her, but a 2nd mag might be bought soon

AC scratches ~7000AC

Premium??????? ive had ALOT of prem used to be permanently prem but not as much these days, ill set that number of prem AC aside cause that's hard to calculate

so.... 17 trees, 9 mags, 1600 for +50 inventory, and 7000 for the handful of AC scratches I did in the past = 19800AC, $200 not bad actually I thought itd be way worse than that

I am thinking of buying AC cash but I want to know the reasons you had for buying AC cash.

I figure a AAA game is about $60 so that would be 6000AC but do you think phantasy star online 2 is a AAA title?

How much have you all spent on your own AC cash purchases and what did you buy?

I spend accordingly based on the amount of time I stand there idling in the lobby, which is A LOT.

What you are talking about is a 1 off purchase for an AAA title, but this is an online game we're talking about here, not a fair comparison.

I've only been playing for roughly one and a half years so my AC spending isn't that much. So far I've spent (iirc):
1 1/2 years of premium and counting ( I started using prem 2 weeks after I started pso2)
6 normal AC scratch bundles
1x 100 slot inventory expansion for my main
3 mags
5 extra skill trees for 3 characters

As a counterpoint to posts from others, have bought/spent 0 AC.

Have played over 4000 hours and do enjoy the game a lot, but find self not needing any AC services and have gotten too used to utilizing work-arounds. But then again, am also the dirty freeloading type regarding online games and never really spend funds on micro-transactions.

Agree with sentiment that spending on a single player game is not the same as spending on an online game, there being a great difference in both play and spending between the two.

If did spend money, would be for additional inventory slots. Imagine if got into playing force as a main class and was willing to spend, would definitely buy skill trees.

Skill Trees and inventory expansions are all I ever bought. A few months of premium back in 2014 when I last played. I still make the occasional appearance upon request. Other than that, I can only chase a carrot on a stick for so long until boredom sets in.

I bought various skill trees, inventory expansions, new characters, mags, and utility things like that. I was mostly always premium as well. My AC spending stopped completely when Episode 4 hit, as did my premium. I may consider buying another skill tree for force soon, but that's about it.

What you are talking about is a 1 off purchase for an AAA title, but this is an online game we're talking about here, not a fair comparison.

Because I'm too lazy to take a screenshot of all 9 pages, multiply by 9 for a rough estimate.

Wow that could literally feed me for a week. I should really think about getting a promotion these days.

I usually financially support games that greatly interest me. This one does.

I used to buy AC to get inventory space, extra character slots, and buy 10-12* passes. I stopped, however, because SEGA insists on trade locking 13*s for whatever fucking reason. It's part of why I don't play much anymore. I don't have much time to play, but I don't want to spend it waiting for EQs so I can do my collection files. Seriously, why even bother making them trade lock after grinding if you can't even- wait I'm going off on a tangent now. I uhh... yeah... I've spent AC.

I've bought several times, to get weapon and unit passes, additional skill trees and inventory spaces.

I spent the 5000 AC on the PSU scratch, this was the first time I went out of my way to actually play a scratch in the last four years though, the PSU nostalgia got me hard.

I did get everything I wanted, and more than enough of the Ability Add devices, so for my first time buying AC specifically for a scratch, I'm pretty satisfied.

bought for several additional skill trees once because i didnt wanted to use alternative characters for nothing else than TAs or dailies, also bought premiun once because i absolutely detest playing the RNG game with drop so i bought premiun to fill myself head to toe on unit/weapon tickets to last me a lifetime
