i remember hearing something about a demo of episode 1 and 2... what was it?

There was indeed a trial version of PSOE1/E2. It had e1 forest up to mines, and e2 VRT-CCA. VRT and VRS didn't have any bosses at the time. There was only battle rule 1, and only 1 cmode stage. All 12 characters were there, and the level cap was 50.

Don't assume that poster had it in their possession.

It was for Gamecube and it went out to selected beta testers across the world. PSOW here had a whole section put up on PSO EP 1 & 2 Trial media=music, pictures, videos, etc.
