I had a few builds that were here but deleted as over time this week it seems Flat Attack isn't nearly a "trap" skill as people have put it but Hp Restorate Skill is hit or miss. You have to JA to get the 50% Crit and Flat Atk Bonus helps you retain your damage overall during a quest if you miss a JA window (or mis-time it) so it's still a must to get to sustain your DPS because no one is going to 100% JA every run they do.

4/26/20
While we had the Lv95 for some time now and we got some extra SP, the only thing I adjusted on the Skill Tree I posted above (since I did use that build and now use a slightly adjusted one) was remove all but 1 SP in Et Hp Restorate and filled the 8 extra SP into All Atk Up (40 extra atk, essentially 1% dmg increase). It's also come to some light that DS Step Slide is kinda useless, it's not very fast compared to normal running and Wand/Katana speed traveling that all it offers is a unique animation. Unless theres something I'm not seeing (aside me knowing that I almost never use this) then it's something you can drop and throw that 1 whole SP into something else

[spoiler-box] Enough time has gone by and the weapon meta has seem to be set in stone until some balance updates happen to the class (5/3/20)
DB buff came, didn't really change it up a whole lot (6/10/20)

Wand > DS > DB's

Dual Blades

A) Very good for Multi-Bossing (i.e. Elder Arms) but performs okayish on mobbing. Until Et DBs gets a power balance of sorts, it is still lacking behind the other 2 weapons, albeit almost on the same level as DS but still below Wand.

Double Saber

A) Excellent in single bossing, counter and Double Saber Skip Arts is a must along with DS Gear use while holding Normal Attack key for quick dmg/pp regain. Some skill may be required to mutli boss with this weapon, not really recommended though.

Wand

A) If you can manage it's PP use correctly you can easily out dmg the other 2 weapons, excels in mobbing and can be very lethal in bossing. Liberate Wand S5 (Calming Shockwave) completely makes it's PP recovery management a thing of the past (whether you have S6: Wise Skill or not, it's still suggested you grab this SSA).
[/spoiler-box]

[spoiler-box]Weapon

1. Cras
2. Stil
3. Ayer
4. Atra Ex+. Austere NT+. LS+, Million/Clissa
5. Liberate, the rest of the other 15*s

New and returning players should work on Stil/Pyras series by running Divide Quest or any 15* weapon campaign going on. Starter weapons: Dim series. Alternatively, if you run Primordial Darkness enough, you can exchange for an Ayer weapon (cap is at +30) from Zieg instead.

Units
Lightstream still holds up, unless you want to make the jump for S6-8 SSA's, you can but you probably won't see much of a difference in terms of unit to unit comparisons, the SSA's atm are really the only things that will make a major difference.

New players can either make full Schvelle or work toward Liberate. Can also opt to just have a Novel Leg since its basically the 13* version of Izane series and add w/e Rear or Arm unit of choice

SSA's
DO NOT use any sort of Lifesteal/Hp recovery SSA's as the skill "Damage Balancer" significantly reduces any of the healing to 1Hp per tick. You will need to learn to adapt without these

S1's
Augment Intent
Offensive Intent
Skilled Strike
Strike Boost (if you spec'd T atk on to your Wand, use Tech Boost)

S2's
Offensive Intent
Skilled Strike (1 or 2)

S3's
Offensive Intent
Skilled Strike (1 or 2)

S4's
Raising Pursuit
Colossal Radiance
Mysterious Strike
--(only use MS if you have at least over 100% crit, otherwise you're doing 6% dmg 50% of the time from this, you want consistency)

S5's
Mysterious Intent (DS & DB's)
Calming Shockwave (Wand)

Mag Build
Works like Hero Mag, in example:

Your Mag:
0 S atk
0 R atk
200 T atk

Your Mag with Et Mag Skill:

200 S atk
200 R atk
200 T atk

Ring Wise
Recommended if not Mandatory that you grab these 2 rings to increase QoL
L/Mate Lovers
L/Atomizer Lovers

These are utility which I recommend you keep one of these L/Rings with the atk (20) on it or if you want the Defense (20) instead
L/Jumping Dodge
L/Mag Excite
L/Party of Toughness

L/Easy Full Connect
-It's an alright ring, not something you need unless you want it. It's more on the lines of needing to set up with it and not just halting your DPS once the gauge is half full and using it right away because the charge up time takes awhile and during that time you could have already done more damage than what you're about to unleash. A good example of using this is during the intro animation of Persona on his main Phase when the camera is focused on him and you see everyone else setting up their attacks, thats when you learn to time the charge and release when he's able to be hit. Figure out your setups and the ring will come in handy otherwise don't bother with the ring (especially since Dual Blades are the worst of the 3 atm still)

R/C Strike S (theres a compound Ring now that adds all S/R/T atk into one ring, no it does not stack, remains 20% Crit + 3% Crit Dmg)
R/Quick Mate (if for some reason you want more added on top of Mate Lovers, grab this)
R/Tech Arts JAPPS (I didn't make up the name but if you want to save even more PP during different PA combo's, grab this)
R/Et Effort Symbol Ring (1% dmg increase, 10% Crit Rate increase, 3% Dmg Reduction. It's an okay ring but wouldn't drop C Strike ring for it)

--Weapon Mechanics 101
Here is a VERY helpful video for learning each of the weapon mechanics that'll improve your level of play, shows very good details that ties into the DPS charts above:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UY7Rt0gskIQ

I haven't seen much on DPP PA combo's but for the time being here are some you can spam, you can also use the charts above as reference.

---Dual Blade
Vertical Flow or Radiant Sting -> Distortion Pierce 3x
Vertical Flow or Radiant Sting -> Light Wave 3x

---Double Saber
Absolute Quasar (hold direction for first half of PA into) -> Saber Destruction 2/3x -> Charged Normal (can add Celestial Collide at the end)
Absolute Quasar (hold direction for first half of PA into) -> Saber Destruction 2/3x -> Celestial Collide
After Celestial Collide (or for distance targeting), use Shooting Star.

You can stay in a neutral position if you don't want the first half of Absolute Quasar and then going into these combo's if you want. You can also hold a direction for repositioning with Saber Destruction if need be too. Remember to DS Counter for free PP/Dmg and use Charged Normals

---Wand
Prism Circular (normal PA or Focus) -> Luminous Flare 3x (can do either the normal PA or its Focus variant, be mindful of PP consumption)
Black Hole Rupture -> Luminous Flare ?x (more of a mobbing combo, use LF as needed. Can use Focus BHR into LF on stationary mob/bosses)

[spoiler-box]1. Does Damage Balancer effect any sort of Hp recovery outside Mates and Et Hp Restore?

A) Yes, any sort of Lifesteal or Hp Recov Ring or SSA will only recover 1Hp per tick

2. So for Et Wand affixes, S or T atk?

A) You can spec into w/e the highest stat is on the Wand (either S or T atk), just make sure you're also accounting for affixes before you do so. If you are sharing that Wand with Techer, spec into T atk then. The skill called "Wand Special Ability Plus" will take into account on w/e highest stat (S or T) is and applies it.

3. Does Around Mate Up only increase the power of Mates/Atomizers of everyone around you or does it apply to you as well?

A) This skill also applies to you

4. Do I have to rotate different PA's after proc'ing Tech Art Bonuses condition or can I do one PA then spam a different one 3 times?

A) Yes, you can spam the same PA 3 times after the proc

5. Which weapon is best for bossing and which for mobbing?

A) DB/DS primarily for bossing and some mobbing, Wand is VERY good for mobbing and bossing but PP management is pretty heavy.

6. How long do you need to stand still for Standing Massive?

A) Around the same time as Standing Snipe, I also believe this works in the air too (at least from what I've seen)

7. With maxed Flat Bonus, is JA Critical the only disadvantage from missing JA?

A) You will also be missing out on ET JA Bonus (15% dmg)

8. Any way to avoid parry causing you to not get a JA window at the end of the PA? I.e. whenever I use it I can't get a JA from the current PA

A) You need to time your parry's, do not spam it otherwise it'll cause you to miss it.

9. Does maxed Tech Arts Count Bonus cut PP for the next 3 PAs different from the first as well as raise the damage?

A) Yes to both

10. Is there any point in Wand F Dash?

A) It boosts your movement speed for a short period of time during/after a Focus PA, it's pretty helpful for positioning.

11. Maxed Same Arts PP Save would cut pp cost by 80% if used 16 times?

A) Yes but only recommended you put 3pts max if you're maining Et, subclass wise, add desired amount.

On thread : French names at last

ya, the Hero thread I made hasn't majorly changed much because only a couple of new DPS loops have come out since the past buffs released so I need to update a couple of videos and post some PA loops (not that most people don't already know them) but same plan as before for this thread, just update it when I can. I don't think the Phantom thread was updated on the original post either in a long time so I kind of want to prevent that

I don't know about you guys, but I will refer to it as E-toilet. Maybe I'll drop the 'E' at the front.

Well, most of us were wrong in that it would use a ranged weapon. Though just because it has 3 "melee" weapons, it does not mean that it will not use one of those for non-tech ranged (medium-far distance) combat. Is there an estimate on when there will be more information regarding it?

Unless SEGA releases information early, the next information drop will be 5th October, as they're allowing people to play test it then.

Maybe it will have a summoner-like switch mechanism, which will allow to use r-atk as a modifier for its damage, and/or a mag skill to convert any type of attack/dex into... whatever kind of attack Étoile uses.

Also, we still don't know about the skilltree, and if/how they will be using other classes.

Chaval Melm - Wand(I don't understand this one's ability work)
If I'm not mistaken, when using a PA/tech, it spends all PP and activates a special effect which increases PP regen alot and makes PAs/techs use 1 PP.
The effect lasts until PP is back to full and there's a 2 minutes cooldown until it can be started again.

Basically while the effect is active, PAs/techs can be used non-stop until PP becomes full.

i apologize for the phantom thread update, i though the attende info i posted basically covered everything relevant to the class and since Kril never mailed me (you "did" say you would pm me if there was something really important that i should have added to the OP) i didnt though it was necesary.

Back to topic,, holy sh*t now this class does call my attention. I got a 15* ds from beach war and i was just wondering when the hell i was ever gonna use it since i only played hr. :D

Also i belive i will actually be able to give some good first hand experience on this one since next week ill be traveling to Japan for 3 months and the place where ill be staying is quite close to Sega´s offices so i might be able to go over and check it on that october 5 try over

How viable is a Lavis Cannon with ult booster potential (don't compare to Chaval Melm cause I doubt I'll get one)?
Assuming that Etoile has a good wand combo that uses 3rd normal (like for example Hero Sword).
According to swiki the ult potential has a 5% overall damage increase and the damage increase for the 3rd normal isn't known yet.
I'm wondering if there is a point to upgrade my Lavis or if I shouldn't bother.

There's too less information about Etoile, so if I were you I won't bother upgrading anything related yet. However, you can keep any preparation you like, in your case, keep the Lavis for now.

I'm sure you're well aware Atra Ex and Lightstream are still better than Lavis+ right?

and we don't know about the class yet so Lavis+ may not actually work as good as you want it to be when the class releases. may be good for niche play or a starter wand but I wouldnt doubt newer gear will hit before then or Atra Ex/Lightstream still being the choices to stick to

depends on your definition of good

it's around 4% weaker than Atra EX, but comes with a relatively decent potential for HP/PP recovery (deal damage to enemy and whenever you sheathe your DS, you regain HP and PP according to the amount of damage you dealt. Getting launched or stunned also counts as sheathing so it's a pseudo automate effect in a lot of cases (up to 60% HP recovery). Not having access to vampiric S4 is a huge detriment for FI but Etoile might not need the S4 and value the PP recovery more (up to 100PP recovery is welcome). I'd say keep it for now til we get more info, unless you really want to play FI and can't get Atra EX

i really dont have intention of touching FI, i leveled it up to use as sub for hu but i havent touched either of them again ever since Hr released so this one is pretty welcome to me since im too lazy to farm one of the higher 15*s, i just hope Etoile is like phantom in the sense that you can use a single weapon all the time if you want.

Speaking of similarities. Anyone noticed that Etoile inherited both the alternative PAs (white JA circle) and the Quick Cut windows from Ph?

i apologize for the phantom thread update, i though the attende info i posted basically covered everything relevant to the class and since Kril never mailed me (you "did" say you would pm me if there was something really important that i should have added to the OP) i didnt though it was necesary.

I forgot, I was playing Phantom like everyone else and overtime it just slowly faded away in terms of PM'ing you. I kinda assumed you would be reading the thread too since people were posting PA/Skill breakdown numbers/charts and figured you have would hopped on those over time so I didn't think twice to DM that stuff to you. I suppose if you have the time maybe dig around a bit? or I suppose other people can do their own digging, iunno

I'm sure you're well aware Atra Ex and Lightstream are still better than Lavis+ right?

and we don't know about the class yet so Lavis+ may not actually work as good as you want it to be when the class releases. may be good for niche play or a starter wand but I wouldnt doubt newer gear will hit before then or Atra Ex/Lightstream still being the choices to stick to
Ah, thanks.
Not aware of it as I don't really play te and when then only full support.

Te/Ph is actually fun and allows you to either Wand Smack or use Techs/Compounds to attack along with support, its actually gotten better but still not going to reach top tier anytime since it's a support class. I've invested some time into it and it feels funner to play than when i last tried to play it years ago even though I'm not exactly as good as other Te main players I've seen

I suppose they never said "shooting damage" or "r-atk" weapon, just "ranged weapon". and nearly everything the dual blades were doing there was barfing sword parts all over the place, so they might have been going for a technicality there

Well 2 S atk weapons and a T atk one sorta dont follow that but ya it sounds like Phantom, unless we're being super loose about the word "ranged" i guess Wand could follow under it with PAs and Techs? Would be weird to turn DS or DBs into a R atk type

Dual Blades also have some ranged attacks now but it doesn't mean theyre an R atk based class either. We still don't have a lot of info to go off of yet for the class but my money is still on a 2 S atk and 1 T atk kit

at the very least, the interview was after we knew what weapons phantom used, and after we knew there was another successor class coming up. the question was directed at what he could tell us about it

also im not saying it's R-atk scaleing; I am saying that Dual Blades might be the weapon type to use to attack things that are not close to you, or in other words, at range. and when the ep6 director was interviewed, he said the class after phantom would have a melee weapon, a tech weapon, and a ranged weapon. he did NOT specifically say "an S-atk, T-atk, and R-atk weapon"; so he technically was not lying in that interview.

Dual Blades has a finisher with that huge sword it creates by holding down the attack key at the cost of half your gauge. Wand sorta has one but require JG's i think (?) for what looked like a moderate dmg burst but I didnt see one on DS.

anyway, yeah DS builds it's gear fast and either consumes it for enhanced attacks, or when you take a hit to reduce the incoming damage. that probably means it'll be the most consistent damage output of the weapons; even if you get hit sometimes, the gear looks like it builds fast enough that it won't hold you back too much

Wand builds it at a moderate pace, has a somewhat noticeable passive build rate (builds when attacking, just guarding, and moving); but as far as I can tell, is only consumed when you hold the normal weapon action to extend the duration of the shield. this will charge up an attack that goes off when you let go that is based on how much gear you consumed while charging (requires 1 bar of gear to use an attack; but even if you completely drain your gear it looks like you can still keep holding the button for stage 2 and 3 charges). Being able to hold the weapon action shield out, and it counting as a just guard, makes me think wand will be Et's "safety" weapon. though that depends if I got a good read on how the weapon action works.

dual blades seemed to have the slowest gear build rate, and only holds two charges; still faster than somebody who is on-the-ball with building hero or phantom gear though. the only things they did that consumed gear was the combo of Step Edge into Weapon Action, then using Weapon Action again and charging it to assemble the Big Blade. oddly enough it didn't consume the 2nd gear charge until they swung it, so that might be a fail-safe for people who go to use it but get knocked out of it or otherwise cancel it without attacking. you still have to max your gear to use the big blade though; as apparently you have to do the first attack that consumes 1 gear bar first before you can do the big blade. This probably means dual blades will wind up being Et's bigger source of burst damage, but you have to commit to it longer to get gear built up for it.

For quests with normal enemy encounters, I could see people open up with blades until they can max their gear; then swap to doublesaber until they need the burst from the big blade. Unsure how it'll work out for boss fight quests, that'll probably be up to whatever the real meta-scientists come up with when they can get their hands on it.

You can hold Weapon action on wand after gear runs out but that means you have no more JG frames while charging.

This Focus PA system in general sounds pretty neat. I wish there was something like this for Te. Wand is absolutely incredible when dealing with large groups of enemies. 1v1 its super weak though. Maybe Sega could redo Te, apply the 40% Attack buff & Step from Wand lovers to Wands by default and change Wand Lovers into a "1v1 mode" skill.

To be honest, I think they should have taken the idea they had for Talis slightly changing how a tech works if you cast it from a thrown one a little farther, and had thrown talis and wand both use all techs differently than rod / neutral talis(?) / jet boots(?)

like safoie 0 would just be how safoie works when cast from a wand, as an example.

but they were still just getting everything working back then, and they seemed to have a much different plan for force and techer than how they wound up being utilized / how they actually worked given quest design enemy competition

I think it's really going to come down to how much the damage reduction is. From what people were saying it was 70%... which is huge considering the class is going to have a few other damage reduction skills on top of that. The only case where you can get hp recovery from attacking as etoile is pots and SSAs anyway, so that might just be what they're buffing, but at 70% reduction, and with how many hits it looks like etoile PAs do, healing for 1 per hit doesn't sound that bad for general upkeep, especially when combined with passive hp recovery. That's a huge increase to your effective hp.

With a mate lover's ring you'll be healing faster than using resta anyway.

I thought that skill gimped Life Steal and Sturdy recovery which is why im not going to do it unless the reduction is really that good in action. Also im personally over the age of using mates, i dont like having to stop and heal with mates which is a detriment to DPS to me even with Mate Lovers, megiverse and resta were easy to work around. If you're taking 90 damage when you would have taken 300 that's a pretty big deal. I think it comes down to the healing on Etoil hp restorate more than anything else. Mates would be for emergencies or when using Etoile as a subclass.

EDIT: Unless I'm wrong and it's reducing the damage TO 70%, in which case, no it totally wouldn't be worth losing sustained healing for it.

I don't think a 30% damage reduction would warrant such a HP recovery source nerf considering Massive Hunter is a thing and available on the go-to subclass, Hunter (while also providing Super Armor). It probably is 70%. If not people will probably voice their feedback about how much they don't like it because it nerfs everything that isn't a item way too much. No SSA that heal you over time, no Vamp SSA, no Vamp Potential, no Resta, no Megiverse, No Super Treatment, you can't even equip R/ HP Restorate in order to speed up your passive healing.

Also Etoile HP Restore only heals 2.5% HP per 5s so its not as strong as the Su version.

It wouldn't be a percent at all at that point. I don't see why it would affect Etoile skills though. Heck, I don't see why it would affect class skills at all now that I think about it. Do you have a source for the translation that says it's specifically items not effected? The only translation I've seen is bumped, and it just says "certain sources". I just realized they didn't even have it in the video showing off the PAs, so I can't just check that. :I Though it's worth mentioning that overdrive still worked.

They're releasing weapons in 2020 to compete with Lightstream so when those release, some Novel maybe better than Lightstream (which again varies on good S5's being out) and some won't be. However Atra Ex is slowly starting to go down the ladder and be 3rd best 15* series out there. But the new years LQ will have a way to farm Novel upgrade materials so the 1300 title isn't really needed (unless you want the upgrade early) right away.

but like with every end episode raid, those power creep everything else but its good to at least sega doing this

Though this is probably my cynicism talking, if them being "farm-able" is similar to how Chronos stones were farm-able during the various Quest Boosts over the past few months, I think the title reward may be the most guaranteed option for people.

i dont know how they're going about this, i cant say it'll be the exact way but the title is the easiest way but also the hardest for people who lack titles or a bit short from reaching 1300 (like me). My assumption is they'll be farmable through badges and not as horrible to attain like Chronos or Amph stone drops

Glad to know, as there is no way I am grinding out titles when I can wait just a few more weeks/months to get it the 'easy' way (I only occasionally play PSO2 nowadays so the wait isn't really that long). Ya i forgot the name for it but Liberate series. Also a lot of info lacking right now so it's hard to say how the weapons will turn out yet

Well, it's been a year already so not surprised they're handing out Amph that (relatively) easy

I guess I should get a filler Austere DS for now, that's the only weapon type I'm missing atm then decide later whether to get something else.

you can be lazy and cheap and just do Dim weapons as filler until you're ready to jump on LS or Liberate

I personally don't think it's worth investing in a filler weapon for Etoile yet. We don't know exactly what the best ways to use the weapons is. I'm making a LS DB and DS, but that's literally because the current confluence of events lead to me getting Celestials of both as drops right when an event giving a stone out started, and I got my title stone from Persona. But in the case of LS I can always change the category if I feel like it's too much for them. (I still think LS has a boring hard to use pot).

EDIT: To rephrase that, If you have stuff you can use now then go ahead, but I don't think it's worth going out of your way to farm for an out-of-date weapon for a class that's over a month away.

For Etoile filler, just use Jupiter Tullus. I'm sure the potential still works for Etoile, it doesn't require Bouncer Gear or anything. Easiest thing in the world to get, and Bouncer mains probably have one kitted out already.

Then, just keep doing UH PD and hope for a Novel drop. Seems easier than trying to get a Celestial from Persona at least! If you get one, you're set for a long while. It's unfortunate there's no category change for Novels, but Sega will probably add one for Liberates.

I actually have all the materials for Austere NT (Invade, nemesis and slave for both DS and wand as well as a load of +30 NT fodders), but I guess you're right. Best hold on for now since I *might* just get something better from drops.

-snip-.
Already have a DB (newly minted LS), got Novel Wand from a drop. DS is the one I have a problem with since i don't really Fi but I guess I should wait and see for now

I makes the weapon scale with the highest. It's unclear if it means the highest only from affixes, the highest including affixes and base attack on the weapon, or the total, including your own stats.

I would've said that it destroys the weapon meta for etoile, but their PA notations are so high that jupiter doesn't matter all too much, but lavis is going to be pretty big for etoile. Doesn't help that you can make both those weapons as a Liberate weapon. It does mean that etoile is going to be stuck on Liberate for a while though.

S6: Guardian Armor (Reduces damage taken by 7%)

1. how much dmg reduction do i have while all of above are activated? (assuming i got 4/4 in my party).
2. how much dmg reduction do i have when my S4:Saint Shield active? (-50% damage taken every x second interval)

I believe it's multiplicative ... so, 70% reduction = 0.3 damage taken ..... 7% reduction = 0.93 damage taken ....
0.3 * 0.93 * 0.93 * 0.93 * 0.93 * 0.95 * 0.95 = 0.2046 -> 20.5% damage taken in total.

If you have Etoile Boost and taking multiple hits, you'll get additional bonus (15%/hit, capped at 75%, but reduced by 25%/s) ..... at maximum 75%, you'll take 5.1% damage in total.

Absolutely nothing with any sort of auto/life healing SSA's, rings etc will work when youre forced to grab Damage Balancer. Only Ets Hp Restore skills/mates will work so people are going to have to rely on not using Lifesteal/Rings anymore. Youll recover Hp still buts like 1hp per tick

I have. It's a 1HP restoration indeed as said above. But I still find Vampiric Strike to have its use (even though it's only 1HP per tick) if you use a Wand. Since you attack fast with multiple AOE with that weapon, it's quickly 100HP for each pack of mobs.

That being said, I really enjoy this new Class. Fun Level for me : Wand >>> Double Saber > Dual Blade.

Because third normal wave on liberateThat's not a game changer though. Like, it's not BAD, but you really don't do normals on wand that often. It's not like Te where normals are one of your main sources of damage, and wand doesn't feel like a PA>PA>Normal3 type of weapon. Also I thought you meant regular Lavis canon, not the lavis s5.

My takeaway during leveling is that I wish DB and DS had movement on normals like wand. Wand is easily the best feeling well for me though I haven't had time to try out all the weapons in actual fightsI thought that at first, but they're both meant to be kinda sticky, in the sense that they make you stick to targets. DB has that chase follow up, and DS has chase on its normals, along with two movement PAs.

late short revew: i back to try out phantom etoilet!
overview: etoile is sega's latest attempt to show that they know the trulest thing a male wants from a game. what else can be better than being an apache helicopter? imagine it, now you can finally sexually identify as an attack helicopter in your fucking game. what time to be alive!

where am i: i'm lv 84 now. too bad, im too lazy to grind shit nowaday. but i got it! mostly! kekw

review:
ds: PH simplicated version. insteads of 2 actions in 1 PA which is seperated by shift action, now they simply merged 2 actions to a long ass PA and tweaked skill tree and JA to make it works. i think they did it pretty well. i usually don't like 5 PA classes. but when i play ds, i would say it's pretty fine. you can mix either full longass PA dpp style or short spamming accuracy style and of course without middleman shiftaction!
pros: i like it. pretty sufficient kit. (saber des + quasar) + shotting star have very good synergy.
cons: more like phantom2 than new class. shiftaction chase is short. saber destruction is stiffy. celes collide can't change direction by mouse but keyboard.

db+wand: lets be honest! to me, both are unfinished products. they don't have what ds has. very simple kits. wand is OTP, wand's focus PA is meh. about db, some PAs are too clunky. light way is aoe but with very bad hitbox (first time i did it i was like wtf st hits?). the only thing i can do with db is spamming vertical flow + dash shiftaction to meme around

overall: i like ds!

I must say here some words too:

overall: i like ds!

It's a bit tough and seems have less good AoE than DB but Celestial Collide 400-500k finishers compense this too much.

DBs seems have less single target DPS but much easier to handle and good AoE too, Light Wave hit pretty long distance, for example on Elder Arms, you can hit several of them simulateously.

Wand's have the most perverted mechanics that I ever saw. But I was forced to use it much on Tokyo Bonus 'cause it have best AoE from All 3 weapons, but too much tough (this directional input after PA usage sucks) and slow for a real action, lowest DPS.

Overall about a class:

1 It's slow as fuck: Only 1 dashing PA on DS and it costs too much. Safoie 0 and Ilzonde are unusable.
As for me who used to use Safoie 0 even while moving in campship it's unacceptable thing, so it doesn't suit for a daily routine.

2 Can't use techs. Sometime it needs to: Omega Loser trigger and nobody uses Ramegid to break watch for example.

3 Incoming damage reduction seems cool, but I can't still figure out how it's class healing abilities works.

No because you dont really spam normals like you would on Te and youd also have to remember to do a 3rd normal after every 2 PAs, if you dont have a spare Atra Ex sitting around or even LS then Lavis+ would be an okay placeholder until you get something better. Optimally if youre maining Wand on Et you make Liberate with S4 Wand Clobber if you want

Just stay locked on 24/7 4Head. I personally don't feel like it's slow. Though i did start playing the game as hunter using mainly swords and play summoner sometimes so guess i might be used to this kind of stuff.

You could use wand's dash instead or find a weapon that has llzonde or safoie on it (If it even exists idk im casual)

2 Can't use techs. Sometime it needs to: Omega Loser trigger and nobody uses Ramegid to break watch for example.

Just get a better team comp 4Head. While it takes a bit longer to kill him i don't think this should be counted against it since hu/fi also cannot use techs.

Wand is my favorite of the 3 for the ability to move around while doing pa's and attacks. It reminds me sorta of wisdom form sora or tangled keyblade sora from kh3. I actually find DS to be my least favorite though that's just me and im weird so.

1 Do like the oldies and buy a エレヌバティナ katana (it has innate asagiri and is what any class without techs use already sooo)

2 Io and behold you can play the game without techs ! Non-tech classes still found workarounds for getting some utility despite not having techs, like using boots with innate strike gust to buff yourself or simply use status effects on a weapon (DS on Etoile multi-hits hard enough for it to inflict statuses on a relatively reliable basis). Sure it's more effort and doesn't fully replace actually having the techs but not having them is not a fatality. If you want techs just play another class.

3 Class has a tree with standing massive and around mate as skills...Maybe they're trying to encourage the...use of mates !? Just use a mate Lovers ring (possibly stack Quick Mate right ring on top if you're feeling extra), and maybe slot an Atomizer Lovers ring on a unit (Something that I think every player ever should have done already but I guess some are too busy to ever feel the need to safely throw Moons and Stars in other players' way).If that's not enough for you, DBs can actually use their parry even during mate animation to make it extra safe healing. With all the damage reduction tucked + Will + HP restore, you shouldn't be feeling the need to heal that often anyway

the issue is what little attack S4's there are, are very expensive in the player shops right now and not exactly a variety of them to go for. all I can think of is S4 Saint Shield and S4 Radiant Resolve

Assume I've got materials sitting around to make 1 Lightstream, 1 Liberate, and 1 Atlas EX. Some elite bastard, please recommend how to build an Etoile with this. I have no preference for one weapon over another at this point.

And also what are my bread and butter going to be for each weapon? It's too needlessly flashy to actually see everything happening and if I have to find the answer myself, I'm giving up and going home to Hero.

I already put in the Weapon Meta section that all 3 weapons atm are currently but nearly on par with each other. Since Liberate is going to be the must have and must use to get the most damage on your Et, make a Liberate of the weapon you like the most and go from there on Lightstream and Atra Ex. You can category change any of these later if you decide on something else

S4:Radiant Response - Improve Natural PP Recovery, Active PP Recovery, and reduce PP consumption based on maximum PP. Maxes at 30%.

If wand, then S4:Wand Clobber Increase the performance of Wand Normal Attacks. (Attack Speed 1.1x, all hitstop negated)

for example, Hu's partizan, sword, wl. They all had diferent gameplays and where better than other in certain situations. But at the end any could get the job done.

I found Radiant Sting > Distortion Pierce spam to be an effective dps but with the new dps charts im not certain anymore, i tried doing the same with distortion pierce edge cancel but i must be doing it wrong.

From what I heard
Tech Arts Count bonus lasts the next 3 PAs regardless of whether or not they're combo'd from different PAs, so you can do Radiant Sting then 3 distortion Pierce, instead of alternating. At least I think that's how it works.

Edge canceling doesn't seem worth the effort to be honest. The only time I do it is with vertical flow when I'm repositioning or avoiding something.

As I learn from these graphs DB's PAs have much lesser DPS than DS, but Connect's pretty hard.
So the goal is to use Connect as much as possible during a fight and not concentrate on PA DPS but on buinding gear fast for Connect.

Upper-Left uses just too much PP
Bottom-Left WTF is this? Not much faster than normal running/DS slide
Upper and Bottom-Right use right now on my Lavis and Celestial GS battery, but it's a pain in the ass to swith a weapon with a lag sometimes.
And somebody told me to buy All-class Gurren katana, but there's same problem with switching.

Also normal attacks and gear actions not break combo, i think it applies for both Same Arts and Tech Arts, so you can for example spam PA, lock on target recover PP with normal attacks and continue with same PA not breaking combo, only Step breaks combo or when you interrupted.
Same Arts also not have JA requirements, so if you accidentally miss JA circle during long combo Same Arts still apply.

DB gear works even if character frozen xD

So what combos do you guys like so far?

For double saber I generally dash in with Absolute Quasar then PA skip to fire off Shooting Star to knock enemies up to freely fire off Celestial Collide, assuming I haven't climbed too far up with Shooting Star.

From there if anything is still alive I close in with a normal attack or weapon action to finish it off. If I have enough pp I just fire off any of the three PAs.

Saber Destruction is cool and all but I find the dps unreliable for anything other the bosses that aren't moving that much.

What do you guys do?

So a note about Etoile DS enhanced attack that I'm not sure everyone picked up on, it's stronger if you do it as a follow up to Step Slide, or with Quick Take. I think it's mainly the normal attack portion that gets buffed, but it's worth mentioning for people doing it raw. Also, enhanced attacks give a ton of PP back. I basically never run out if I'm using them regularly.

EDIT: Did some more testing with it, and cross referenced with the notes on the s-wiki. The normal attack portion of enhanced attacks uses whatever multipliers the particular normal attack would have normally used, while the explosion seems to have fixed damage. Raw numbers aren't as useful for figuring out multipliers, but for reference I do around 11-12k with the first hit of a normal combo, Around 30k with a Quick Take normal, and 70k with step slide, so, depending on if you get the chance step slide is probably the best way to use it, especially since you can just immediately QT into a step attack.

Phaleg duel 1:31 Et DB only

So after a while of trying up things i've seen from others and reading up more on the class, at least for DB i can say with certainty that Distortion Pierce is the best DPS PA to use in almost any situation, it really comes down to the target's mobility, other than that, the other 3 PAs are utility in order to begin your Distortion Pierce spam again.

I thought maybe 2 connect would be better than a full connect, but thats not the case, Full connect is better dps, the only reason to use 2 connects instead of a full is if you are trying to not get hit, but is hard to die as ET regardless so i don't see a reason not to full connect all the time.

I think DB is better DPS than DS aslong as the enemy gives you plenty of oportunity to gain gear, otherwise maybe DS would be better.

i don't see a reason not to full connect all the time.So you can have enough gear to be able to dump it on a boss' weakpoint, which really doesn't matter for Phaleg. I don't even do two connects in a row, I just do one, build my gear up, then do another one. At least for fights where capitalizing on a weakpoint is important.
Also, based on the DPS charts, full connect IS less DPS, it's just WAY better burst damage, hence why it's best to use on big weakpoints or when you know you don't have time to get more hits in after. Spamming it whenever you get the chance if you aren't going to hit a juicy weakpoint isn't really worth it imo. The actual DPS difference isn't that big, I just prefer not blowing my whole gear if I'm not sure I can land a good hit.

And when I use Full Connect on Elder Arms it's a real waste to hit only one with it: 1 noweakspot hit ~300k, 1 weakspot hit 999k and when you hit all 4 arms in their weakspots it'll be 4m in 1 hit.

I'm loving Etoile so far but still unsure on how to effectively gear the class.

With regards to the "Wand Special Ability Plus" skill, does it take into account stats that have been affixed or just base stats? For example, say I'm using a wand with 2000 S-ATK and 2010 T-ATK base. If I affixed +20 S-ATK onto the wand, would this be the prominant stat that scales with the skill? I was contemplating doing an S1:Strike Boost affix but just wanted to check this before I went ahead.

I'm also curious just how practical Liberate DS, DB, and wand are right now. I understand they are currently most powerful but arent the majority of S5 SSAs somewhat limited?

I did ask this question in the quick questions pile but it soon got buried and ignored. I was curious just how effective something like S5:Evasive Mirage would be for Liberate DS as Etoile. The wording suggests that it may only be useful when using Fi however can someone confirm if it is useful in any way for Etoile too? Would the only other practical S5 right now be to use something like S5:Mysterious Intent (GS), ignore the useless lifesteal, but roll with the extra critical % and 2% damage?

I'm a bit reluctant to go all-out Novel/Liberate with Etoile right now due to the lack of available or practical S4/S5 abilities and feel they would be better utilised for other classes, but that extra critical % and overall damage boost is extremely tempting.

As far as I can tell Etoiel always uses s-atk with wands. The skill simply makes it so that if the t-atk affixes on the wand are higher than the s-atk then the t-atk affixes get added to your weapon's s-atk instead. It's basically so you don't have to reaffix a t-atk affixed wand you also use for Te.

I'm also curious just how practical Liberate DS, DB, and wand are right now. I understand they are currently most powerful but arent the majority of S5 SSAs somewhat limited? The DS s5 specifically mentions a Fi skill so I doubt it works with etoile. The wand one (and the wand clobber s4, for what it's worth), work with etoile, but they aren't very useful since etoile doesn't use wand normals as much as Te. The DB are good though. They're just better Jupiter Tellus with an s4 slot.

Seems DB doing things better than Ph Rifle ATM 'cause of more DPS and stuff:
1 it hits harder and faster with PAs
2 strike > shoot UH damage multiplers
3 even Connect > Charged Mark in terms of charge speed and damage numbers
4 about same distances to use both
5 Damage Balancer + Etoile Will = no oneshots which easily to get on Ph
6 Can spam it's WA for invulnerability while doing PAs

But there's some cons:
1 No Time skill = no burst
2 Much lesser PP regeneration
3 No Spread Needle to sweep all pests at Dailies/Solo Busters from a long distance
4 No Safoie 0 to move around
5 When I do solo training in Tracers TA UH if I run out of mates it's a dead end.

So I still dunno what to do with my incoming Liberate gun. I'm currently use a LS DB with S2 Flowing Grace on it so I can spam things without worring about to suddenly run out of PP and Novel DS with S4 Mysterious Strike which I prefer for a Boss fights with no multiple things to hit.

If I understand a things properly Gunslash S5 is an enhanced version of S4 Vampiric Strike and don't work for Etoile as well but works for Ph Rifle. So I'm curious about what to do:
1 Liberate Rifle with Gunslash S5 and S4 Steel Resolve (to pervent sudden oneshots)
2 Liberate DB with it's own S5 and S4 Radiant Response (but I afraid of lacking pp regen)
3 Liberate DS without S5

Can you explain a little what exactly do DB's S5 'cause I never use Jupiter Tullus?

PS: Etoile Will refill DB's gear after it's proc so it can be used near a boss's death for an extra Full Connect

The dmg difference between LS (active pot) 5/4/5 and Lib DS (with s5 gunslash and mysterious strike) is quite small (around 2-3%?), and u might wanna take advantage of LS PP regen better. So honestly I prefer LS for DS.

Lib DB makes more sense whether u wanna main it or to just use full connect, using S4 Mysterious Strike and S5 gunslash (and if u have wise skill it makes it better). If you main it but kinda stuck on budget, the DB's S5 (with s4 colossal maybe that thing is cheap) still works ok unlike DS. So Lib DB is an okay choice.

For Wand I think LS is way better, probably combined with Chaval Melm for close to unlimited PP? Dunno.

You really think giving up 3~5% more dmg, 40% crit rate, 15% pp reduction, lifesteal (although kinda useless on etoile) is worth gaining a second pp bar every 2 minutes? Also, DB S5 gives more damage than mysterious even with GS S5 + crit unit ssa unless the PA notation is above 4166 in this specific case.

The exact number is 2.943% difference I think, that includes the crit and the 2% s5 (if that's what makes u marked up ur number to 5% max). 15% pp reduction is nice but u may wanna find out how it goes in the field compare to LS. Lib DB will take advantage of that little extra dmg from its burst I think like Full Connect more than DS but you can argue about it cause Celestial Collide is sick anyway.

As for DB PAs, the default is already a DPS loss until you "connect" to Connect or Full Connect, so I assume Thundering Blades can only go as far as balancing them out I guess, but I'm open for real results.

You forget that Liberate can use Phrase Weak/Decay for free compared to LS. Etoile also has possibly the best pp regen in the entire game.

DB 2nd normal being 20 pp, and 3rd being almost 20. DS giving roughly as much or more. DS hold normals giving 20 pp for a total of almost 40 for a single normal. Then you have forward dodge counter on DS giving you almost 50 pp. DS gear also gives 10% more pp recovery for each bar you have. That doesn't even take into account all their pp reduction.

DB S5 also activates on Full/Connect as well. Also still only 200%, it doesn't get cucked by damage cap for Full Connect.

They quite literally don't need LS's every 2 minute 2nd PP bar. I also almost never need to use normals to recover PP either.

While I agree that etoile has good pp management on DB and DS, Phrase weak and decay are pretty situational so I'm not sure why those would be big selling points, and they're certainly not "free".

At the end of the day though you can only have 2 liberate right now, and only two once the new years event hits. I would definitely consider the DB to be the priority there, and for wand, I think orb is more reliable, since out of all the Et weapons wand has the worst pp management.

Had you read my previous post, you'd see exactly what it wasI did read it, I mostly disagree because Liberate weapons are so limited right now, there are other classes where their utility is a lot more useful than a bit of extra crit and damage on etoile. The DS is the main exception, especially if you also play Bo. Wand and DB would depend on if you main etoile or not, which if someone was doing, I don't think they would be conflicted at all.

EDIT: Basically I don't think the opportunity cost of making liberate wand or DS specifically for etoile is as worthwhile as for other weapons, and whether or not it has the biggest damage is irrelevant because they're overkill for current content anyway, unless you're trying to do specific high end stuff.

Got a few questions...
I'm using LS DB, Ultimate Chain ds (about to get LS ds) and Ares Ex wand, I don't plan on getting Liberate tbh.
1) Which weapon is best for bossing and which for mobbing?
2) Which pa / rotation is best per weapon at the moment?
At the moment I mostly go by the numbers but can't really tell if they mean much cause the pas with the biggest numbers are so slow and paper dps from the charts also can be inaccurate because they don't take movement / range into account or sometimes count all dot together like with Jet Wheel.

At the moment I tend to mostly use dbs to try to maximize the amount of Full Connects per quest but I'd rather use all three weapons or at least ds and db.

On ds I usually use Celestial Collide a lot, but I don't know how to best deal with the long backwards movement and I also dunno how to effectively use hold normals. I just read normals don't interfere with TA Count Bonus (and also not Same Arts PP Save?), so I could just use Collide (or better skip arts Collide?) > held normal or normal normal when gear is low on fast moving targets?

On Wand I try to spam focus Prism Circular when possible and when not Luminous Flare. I don't use it that much and have even less of a clue than with ds and db.

3)Is there any point in Wand F Dash? It makes focus Prism Circula (tbh not sure about other focus pas) really hard to use and I become extremely floaty and inaccurate.

4) Maxed Same Arts PP Save would cut pp cost by 80% if use the same pa 10 times in a row?

5) Maxed Tech Arts Count Bonus (tacb?) cuts pp for the next 3 pas different from the first as well as raise the damage?

7) Considering the benefit of Maxed Same Arts PP Save (saps?) how much better (worse?) is alternating pas on Etoile?

8_) How long do you need to stand still for Standing Massive? Like with Standing Snipe is using attacks/pas fine as long as you only move vertically but not horizontally? Is there a cd?

9) With maxed flat bonus ja critical is the only disadvantage from missing ja?

10) Any way to avoid parry causing you to not get a ja window at the end of the pa? I.e. whenever I use it I can't get a ja from the current pa.

Kondibon

1) Which weapon is best for bossing and which for mobbing?Wand is the best for mobbing by a long margin. DS is strongest against bosses you can get a lot of counters on, and DB has a lot of burst damage with connects as long as you keep attacking to build your gear up. I think DS is stronger if you're getting a lot of counters and using the gear properly, but DB is more reliable otherwise.

2) Which pa / rotation is best per weapon at the moment?Wand is the only one with an actual rotation for single target enemies and it's really clunky, and basically relies on the enemy not moving for the entire duration of focus black hole and you having very specific spacing to alternate glitter stripe and protect release 1 (to lower your height and get some pp back). Otherwise it just comes down to trying to use the same PA 3 times in a row with tech arts count bonus. The PA you use to get to that point isn't really important though, just use whatever works at the moment, and don't worry too much about resetting your rotation if the situation changes, like an enemy moves away or something.

For DBs you want to use distortion pierce. The other PAs pretty much all have roughly the same DPS, and even distortion pierce isn't that much higher, so just use whichever one will help you get into position for more distortion pierce. If an enemy is moving a lot or you need to reposition then you can use radiant sting. I think it's also stronger than pierce if you're using the liberate s5, but you already said you're not using your liberates for Etoile.

If you want to keep your distance, or the enemy moved away, but you know it's going to come back by the time you could get to it (elder doing his kick for example), then you can use Light Wave.

If the enemy dropped very quickly and you want to land without needing to use another PA to distortion pierce, you can use vertical flow to land quickly and immediately combo into distortion pierce. It's also the only PA I'd say edge canceling is worth it for, since the JA appears almost immediately, if you're fast enough you can use it to change your altitude while immediately being able to combo PAs. That's not as important though, since normals on DBs track and don't break the combo anyway, so doing that would be more for resetting your rotation because something moved.

Ultimately your goal with DBs is to use connects though, the PAs are mainly for building gear so you can do more connects. I recommend only doing one connect and then staying at half gear until you fill it up again though. At least for fights where a boss opens up a weakpoint. Though, with the damage cap that's probably not as important, just make sure that when you use a full connect you're going to hit what you want with it, because it takes a while.

For DS you want to use saber destruction. Celestial collide on is strong, but I personally use it more for repositioning than DPS because of how slow it is and how easy it is to miss with. If you want to stay far away from something, want to hit a very specific hitbox,or straight up can't reach it, then you can spam skip arts shooting star until you get a chance to counter or quick take to get back in. You can also just use the first halves of Shooting Star or Celestial Collide to change your altitude while dealing damage, but that's not always pp efficient.

Quasar is mostly for moving, since it has such a long range, and when you start the attack you can keep moving for the first half. I usually don't do the whole thing though, and either use it again before the second half starts, or use a different PA. You can however use skip arts with it to combo into saber destruction without changing your position.

As for the enhanced attacks, the best time to do them is as a quick take after a counter, or as a step attack out of step slide, since those attacks to the most damage, but ultimately they're just a normal attack with an explosion on the end, I just throw them in whenever I see a good chance and I have gear.

Wand is a bit more complicated because it's highest dps combo is focused black hole into 3 focused glitter stripes with protect release 1 in between to lower your altitude again, but because focused glitter stripe raises you into the air, has a REALLY small AoE, very specific spacing, and Black hole is immobile. It's basically impractical on anything that isn't completely still, you're better off continuing to spam focused Prism Circular, or focused Luminous Flare for single targets most of the time. Wand probably has the hardest time against bosses that move a lot because of this. You would mainly be using it against bosses because it's so safe. For mobbing there isn't really a rotation, just use the PA that hits the most enemies at the moment. Black hole is a good opener though.

EDIT: actually, to elaborate on mobbing with wand.
Prism Circular is is the best for damage if the enemies are all lined up, but the AoE doesn't have much vertical range, and it can get stopped by obsticles.

Glitter stripe is good when you want the i-frames, want to get int the air without breaking your combo bonuses, or want to knock enemies down.

Black hole is for grouping mobs up and just some good extra AoE damage.

Luminous Flare is good for sweeping over weak mobs, taking advantage of focus dash for longer than the other PAs let you, or when you want a long reach, but also want to be able to hit things above or below you.

3)Is there any point in Wand F Dash? It makes focus Prism Circula (tbh not sure about other focus pas) really hard to use and I become extremely floaty and inaccurate. All it does is make you move faster, if you want to stop moving then don't move. Moving faster is useful because if you're moving faster, stuff can't hit you as easily. I think it's the same speed as sprinting.

4) Maxed Same Arts PP Save would cut pp cost by 80% if use the same pa 10 times in a row? 16 times. I recommend only leveling it to 2 or 3 if you're not going to use etoile as a sub for a class that spams the same PA more than 3 times.

5) Maxed Tech Arts Count Bonus (tacb?) cuts pp for the next 3 pas different from the first as well as raise the damage?Yup.

7) Considering the benefit of Maxed Same Arts PP Save (saps?) how much better (worse?) is alternating pas on Etoile? Like I said before, you don't need to max it if you're only going to be using etoile as a main class. Raising the level actually decreases how much the PP cost reduction goes up per PA. and pas level 5 all it does is increase the potential cap. If you're never using the same PA that many times in a row it doesn't do much.

8_) How long do you need to stand still for Standing Massive? Like with Standing Snipe is using attacks/pas fine as long as you only move vertically but not horizontally? Is there a cd?There's no cooldown, it works like standing snipe. I think it has the same wait time to trigger too. Also, standing snipe doesn't let you move vertically either.

9) With maxed flat bonus ja critical is the only disadvantage from missing ja? You also miss out on the 15% from Etoile JA bonus. Flat bonus is just a little bit of insurrance in case you miss JAs. Some times I just hold down the normal attack button on DB when I need PP or I'm chasing something, so there's that.

10) Any way to avoid parry causing you to not get a ja window at the end of the pa? I.e. whenever I use it I can't get a ja from the current pa.I'm not sure what you mean. The DB parry shouldn't be stopping your PAs. If you mean the weapon actions in general, the only one I canthink of is that wand's focus PA circle is a JA circle (you can do normal JAs out of it too) and if you use the weapon action too early then the attack won't get a normal JA circle afterwords.

previously I was classifying weapon types by their affinity for mobbing/AoE or bossing/single target, but etoile seems to be more about enemy aggression levels. where wand is great against low-aggression, dual blades seem great against high-aggression, and doublesaber is somewhere in the middle. doublesaber seems like the hardest to master weapon, because you gotta be very precise with your inputs to get the most out of it.

swiki still doesn't have the frame data listed for et's moveset, so for now im mostly just using moves and combos that feel good to use. I can't really tell what's most effective unless something is really starting to take longer than I feel like it should.

I would swap double saber and dual blades in terms of enemy aggression. DS thrives when you can get a bunch of counters out. That said, wand is still really good at mobbing.

One more question though, why does Connect not always activate? Last xmas run 5 or more times I activated Connect with at least 2/3 of the gear gauge or more and nothing happened.
I pressed the button once for step > weapon action and then again to activate Connect but nothing. A couple of times I pressed the button 3-4 times right after stepping (each time I pressed the buttons rapidly so I wasn't too slow).
Not like I was attacked during that time either, simply nothing was happening.

Is there a real reason for this or just a bug?

Not completely true, full connect is actually partially invincible, but similarly to the armor of Heavy Hammer, it just "runs out" right as the charge completes so you need to immediately release it or else something might interrupt you with stun or freeze

I did some DB testing on my own and Distortion Pierce isn't as good as Light Wave because of its big aoe coming form the side, this means you can easily hit something other than the weakspot, especially on Bosses like Rockbear that waves their arms / etc. on the side a lot. Light was is far more reliable on bosses like these or those that turn a lot.
And most of Distortion Pierce's damage comes from that big aoe scissor part of the pa whereas Light Wave' has several hit that add up to more damage than the final one so you can easily adjust your position to keep hitting the weakspot and even if you miss it with the final hit you don't lose nearly as much damage as with Distortion Pierce.

Also Vertical Flow and Radiant Sting are notably weaker than Distortion Pierce / Light Wave.

PS: gotta love the broken mess that is Lockon, had to quit a try cause switching from the auto-lockon to Rockbear's belly to his head my me instead lockon to the previous in the distant corner and Radiant Sting made me shoot past the Rockbear I wanted to attack.
I'm used to it being crap but this kind of total fail, changing to another target at a 45° angle when at 0° there are two right in front of me is kinda rare.
Sadly it doesn't matter how often I tell Sega to fix it during surveys, they just don't care.

Is this why every single Etoile I see do not even half my damage?

Kondibon
Jan 9, 2020, 09:00 AM
And most of Distortion Pierce's damage comes from that big aoe scissor part of the paActually most of the damage comes from your own outward swing/shockwave on the last hit, not the edges. The edges only do about as much as the first two hits combined, 60% of the damage notation is in the last swing, the edges do 20%, and the first two stabs do 10% each. You make a good point about accidentally hitting the wrong thing with it in some situations, positioning it properly isn't hard.

Light Wave is the last thing you want to use on DB. What.

Is this why every single Etoile I see do not even half my damage?Lightwave is barely weaker than Distortion Pierce, it has use cases. If anything, people spamming it would lead to lower DPS because Pierce builds gear faster, and only using one PA doesn't get you the tech arts bonus, not because lightwave is weak. It's perfect for situations where an enemy moves away from you, but you know it's going to come back sooner than you could get to it. EDIT: Actually, I don't even think Pierce builds gear that much faster if at all.

EDIT: Actually, I don't even think Pierce builds gear that much faster if at all.

I didn't say Light Wave was weak. But lets get technical about it.

You require... for a Full Connect, without the Gear Buff | with:

15 | 11 Distortion Pierces
21 | 15 Radiant Stings
19.5 | 13 Vertical Flows
14 | 11 Light Waves

Their frames are:

122
80
82
160

That means it takes this long to get a Full Connect:

30.5s | 22.36s (1680 frames | 1200)
28s | 20s (1640 frames | 1066)
27.33s | 17.76s (1830 frames | 1342)
37.33s | 29.33s (2240 frames | 1760)

So yes, Piece builds gear faster than Light Wave. But that doesn't really tell you the aggregate dps of a Full Connect with just those PAs. They are:

1615 | Distortion Pierce + Full Connect
1567 | Radiant Sting + Full Connect
1610 | Vertical Flow + Full Connect
1492 | Light Wave + Full Connect

Off tangent but, During the time you can use one Radiant Sting or Vertical Flow, you get the first 2 hits off of Light Wave and the blades will come out ~1.5 seconds later. That means a Light Wave is doing only 1170% notation damage while the two former moves are doing 1650% and 1711% respectively. If you count the two blade hits that will come out eventually, it'll be 1838%, but you'll practically already had enough time to use Sting or Flow again by then. In comparison, two Stings/Flow vs a full Wave is 3300/3422 vs 3342. One which has really good tracking (enough to track even Leone when he's moving) and the other is just stronger.

Light Wave is also the only DB PA that doesn't have innate superarmor. It doesn't help that it's also the most expensive DB PA to use. You can also move the final hit of Pierce if you needed to

Now I'm not saying Light Wave shouldn't be used at all, but it's the LAST thing you should be thinking of using if you can use any of the other PAs. Afterall, it's your mobbing and ranged option.

Kondibon
Jan 9, 2020, 08:14 PM
How do people feel about Shihou Suzaku on Etoile? It's better on etoile than Bo. Because you're attacking faster, you're less likely to wiff, and build gear faster, which means more connects. I usually switch to a stronger DB for connects though.

Now I'm not saying Light Wave shouldn't be used at all, but it's the LAST thing you should be thinking of using if you can use any of the other PAs. Afterall, it's your mobbing and ranged option.Eh, Fair enough, I guess we agree then. People just usually use that phrase when they mean "not at all", as opposed to literally. I personally feel like vertical flow is more situational than Light Wave though.

Taking Rockbear as example cause it's the only damage test we have at the moment, how to properly position with Pierce? When I tested I was in front of his face and a straight forward hit should have hit his weakspot, but I kept seeing low damage numbers like 100k (or even 40k) or so instead of the 200k+ that I get for hitting his weakspot, mostly whenever he was flailing his arms (which is most of the time).
And I also kept seeing damage numbers on the side rather than close to his face. How to deal with such targets?

About Light Wave though, unlike the other pas it has a lot of range and you can move freely so super armor is not needed, all other pas make it hard to move / move you close to the target so can get hit far more easily. For fast turning targets (quite a lot of bosses) it's useful cause you can adjust positioning easily, e.g. when fighting Banther who turns to attack someone on your side you might have been in a great position to hit the weakspot with Pierce at first but no longer once Banther has turned to the side and both sting and flow are quick pas so you'll again just hit Banther's side and not the weakspot. Wave though lets you move quickly so you keep hitting the weakspot with the 2nd half of the pa.
I'm not saying it's better, but more reliable when the target moves or moves body parts that can get in your way. E.g. I tested 10+ times with Pierce and Wave on Rockbear and every time Wave came out ahead in damage (but I ignored gear building).

That aside, anyone got dpp info on any et weapon? So far all I can tell is that db feels like it has notably lower pp consumption than ds which has notably lower pp consumption than wand (especially on wand it feels like all pas have a high cost).

-added some more youtube videos for reference
-added Flotia series to weapon series list, they're about as good as LS but at the same time the Pot on them is pretty meh
-added a Class Balance Update tab

im still looking for a more casual friendly skill tree build, the only thing atm I can think of is removing Flat Atk Bonus and just pouring those 5 SP into Hp Restorate. Otherwise I'll just leave the tree build I put as a template and let people do whatever with it as originally intended

Because you need to find the frame data of said move for dps. Something that isn't already given to you unlike dpp. Most people don't even know how to count frames either.

In the context of mobbing, distortion pierce has roughly 2x the dpp of lightwave yet lightwave is better for mobbing due to the range and hitbox size.

In the grand scheme of things, dpp doesn't tell you much compared to dps. Dpp tells you... This has the best pp efficiency. Yet there are a million and one ways to recover pp without losing much dps.

Sorry to change the subject but as a Wand-only EToile using a Liberate weapon, which S4 would you consider to be the most useful between Calming Intent and Raging Pursuit ? :-?

out of those 2? Raising Pursuit, people keep thinking Calming Intent is worth going to when its really not. I'd offer you to use Colossal Radiance and naturally Mysterious Strike

There's a handy dandy new ring for Étoile:

L/Easy Full Connect!
After using Step Edge, Full Connects require half-gear gauge.

By the way, has anyone tested L/Mate Lovers with Fraulein Rose? Does the ring affect the potential's CD?

Hmm, I tried that ring and it still uses the whole gear gauge.
From what I tried, the only thing that ring does is make the transition from Connect to Full Connect possible by holding the weapon action, instead of having to press the weapon action for the Full Connect.

It works fine for me; you just need to hold the weapon action a bit longer, I believe.

How useful is ds skip arts? I dunno how it affects dps (tbh mostly using db) but I mainly notice accidentally not pressing a direction when I want to use the full pa

Oh and when wearing easy full connect ring and using full connect with a full gear gauge, do you still empty the whole gauge?

How useful is ds skip arts? I dunno how it affects dps (tbh mostly using db) but I mainly notice accidentally not pressing a direction when I want to use the full pa

You should skill ds skip arts 100% since the skip arts versions of PAs all have specific uses that you won't get with input versions
-Qasar skip arts is a nice aoE with okay damage and a parry tacked in, which makes it great to deal with trash mobs without having to reposition and/or switch to wand.
- Saber Destruction skip arts is great for doing decent DPS while staying in place and is pretty PP efficient.
- Shooting star skip arts is a very accurate projectile. An absolute must vs most luminmechs (lets you hit their weakpoint very easily as long as you're not too far away from the locked-on target)
- Celestial Collide skip arts is just good since full animation is super lengthy, and sometimes you want that quick burst before targets get away, and since the skip arts version is way faster you can hit your target more reliably

In the end you also tend to only use the initial part of input version of PAs (like you cancel input Qasar as soon as you closed the gap most of the time, and you can also cancel the first part of shooting star and collide in rotation for fast DPS + gear bulding). All of this makes DS very strange and hard to use at first but you get used to it after a while, and it makes the weapon very flexible too !

Oh and when wearing easy full connect ring and using full connect with a full gear gauge, do you still empty the whole gauge?

Completely up to you !
Easy Full Connect (only the giant slash) = step then hold Weapon action til the giant sword is formed (half a bar)
Connect = step then tap Weapon action (half a bar)
Full Connect step then double tap Weapon action (full bar)

New ring's good and at first sight too OP: with damage cap release on Elder arms you can clap up to 4*1.7m with one hit and refill pretty fast.
But on second - button press delay between switch from Connect to Full Connect is just too big for a high speed combat and you're remain defenseless too.

You have the choice anyways, but yeah Easy connect is the one you more rarely go to. I personally go this way
- normal Connects against aggro bosses, the kind that move around/attack a lot since normal connect chases down while extending the invul from your step and still does a good chunk while boosting gear accumulation.
-Easy connect defo your go-to on stuns, or to pre-fire on a target that's going to come back (stuff like Gryphon/Diabos flying up attacks). Vulnerable and slow but loads of damage so in active combat, it's not really recommended, but then again Etoile being Etoile you can sometimes just accept facetanking and go for it xD

Huuuh, guys I do understand you want your trees to be unique, buuuut first post has a great functional tree that has all the essential skills, and the right amount of points on the useful mults, and to be blunt, the OP tree is waaay better than yours. Just because why not, some debunking/explaing

-Same Arts PP save at 3 points is optimal mainly because tech arts multiplier works for 3 PAs, meaning you ideally want to use one PA then another 3 times to benefit both from same arts PP Save and tech arts count bonus (for example, shooting star into celestial collide x 3)

-Wand Dash and Teleport add a lot of mobility, which is absolutely needed for Wand because Luminous flare is your main mobbing tool, and since it's a laser, you want to be able to constantly reposition for it to get the most targets at once. Additionally not using any input while using wand teleport brings you back to the ground which is essential because glitter stripe puts you up and wand teleport is your only way down while keeping a decent DPS upkeep (the fall animation of the PA is so slow it's not worth waiting for it xD)

-Double Saber Step slide is optional kinda but do remember the normal following the slide is twice the damage of a normal done otherwise so it definitely has tons of applications and use for a measly skill point so feels like a waste to skip it

-DS isn't even functional without DS skip arts, just take the damn skill and learn the weapon xD

so yeah OP tree with only compromises possible on HP restorate/flat attack, with possibly skipping weapon related skills if you DON'T use the weapon, otherwise all the weapon skills are very useful on their respective weapons and shouldn't be skipped imho

it's ONE whole SP and essential for the class, why wouldn't you grab it?

As for the tree:

1. you only need 3pts into Same Arts PP, Tech Arts procs for 3 of the same PA's in a row after use from a different one and during that session, Same Arts PP is kicked in reducing PP pure attack. You would literally NEED to spam Tech Arts PP Save 18 times to see the full effect (which is why I added that info to the common questions area) so theres absolutely no reason to have this maxed out unless you're doing some niche build (or sub) which you shouldn't be

2. You want to grab Around Mate Up, it's like Mate Lovers and having those 2 (the ring and skill) boosts your healing amount from mates

3. Grab Flat Atk Bonus, it's honestly not as bad as people make it out to be and with the class being Lv95, you have extra SP's to do it

4. Not sure why you went 9/10 on ET weapon Bonus 1, thats literally where your damage is coming from

5. Etoile Hp Restorate is hit or miss, I found over time since the class has been out that it's been super useless to me because I heal myself 90% of the time because the recovering rate is too low and too slow BUT there have been the few times where it's helped during for example, solo Persona EQ where I make a mistake but don't feel like healing but I'm also dodging/parrying attacks and let the skill heal me. Super niche situations, I guess it's okay for down times but I dropped it. I only have it there in the OP because for newbies otherwise just throw all but 1 SP into the skill and spec into All Atk Up (enough for 40 atk).

In short, I leave it to player preference

Etoile HP Restorate - useless skill since you'll heal with mate/skill anyways so waste of skillpoints.

Yes and no but more on preference

Same Arts PP Save - useles at Etoile's main, need only 1-2 points in it.

It is absolutely not useless for Et mains and 3 is the standard amount anyone should be putting in, akin to Lord of Thorns, theres no reason to do more than 3 pts.

Wand F. Dash/Wand Teleport - I use wand a lot for mobbing and when need much AoE in EQs but this two seems useless as well.

They are not useless at all and with Wand being the best of the 3 weapons on Et's weapon pallete (for bossing and mobbing), its a must that you have these.

Double Saber Step Slide - only if you use it much but this one is too slow for me so I don't take it.

I agree, even normal running is faster much less Wand fast traveling (or all class Kat). It's a unique animation but because of it being slower than basically normal running, people can skip this if they want

I'm use this one http://arks-layer.com/skillsim/skillcalc.php?19fbRIobRIobRIobRIobRIobRIobRIobRIob RIobRIobRIobRIo0jdodBdo006dBdBIb00000006dodA00fdAd BIo000000jdoIbIb00dAdBIo000000jdoIb00dBdBIb000000d B006dBdBIb0000008dBIn00jdndBdB0000009bIoIo07bfdBdB 000000doIbIo00dBdBIb000000jdB00dndBdB000006dBIo9b8 dAIoIb000006dAdBdodAIoibdndn0000000fdBdBeBdBdBGOdA HkJbGXIbdBdBfck000000

Only going to single out a couple of things because of the points I already made to the build above this one:

1. PP Up being maxed is gross, don't do this

2. Already discussed the Wand skills but not putting a SP into DS Skip Arts is a mistake, you need this if you're using DS

3. 8 SP into All Atk Up is fine if you're aiming to keep the other essential skills otherwise try to work something out if you really care about the extra 10 base atk (which you kinda did)

And what exactly they do? I didn't saw any difference with them and without while running much in EQs like Easter or Armada.

Why? "It's gross" Very well explanation... Personally I like to have more PP: with this I can do more combo PAs before it falls in a purple zone with cut regen.

I don't use DS much and personally don't like Skip Arts cause it's stand in a way while I need to leap through Campship with Absolute Quasar to regain quest fast (I dunno why but right after Loading screen it use only 2nd part of PA and don't react on direction press) and making troubles for a fast travel overall.

You obviously don't use Wand enough to pay attention on fast your speed increases during combos when Wand F. Dash procs (literally says in the description). Wand teleport has its uses here and there

why the hell in this day an age would you do this unless it was a subclass with extra SP's to pour into skill you actually need? Are your units poorly affixed you can't attain above 200pp? is your weapon poorly affixed too? Et doesn't have any PP recovery issues where its worth wasting 10SP on that skill

troubles for a fast travel overall.

It's not hard to stay stationary and proc the 2nd half of PA's, you need to learn DS better apparently because you want those half PA's to come out over the full animation like Saber Destructions AoE spinning blades versus just the vertical cuts and skipping Shooting Stars frontal slash and going straight into the projectile spam

Same Arts PP Save at lvl 7, if I'm understanding it right, using the same PA multiple times in a row, the PP reduction per PA used is like this:
5% -> 10% -> 15% -> 20% -> 25% -> 30% -> 35% -> 40% -> 45% -> 50% -> 55% -> 60%
You would have to use the same PA 12 times in a row to reach the maxed 60% PP reduction.

Meanwhile with Same Arts PP Save at lvl 3, it would be like this:
8% -> 16% -> 24% -> 25%
While the maxed PP reduction is lower, you don't want to use the same PA more than 3 times in a row due to Tech Arts Count Bonus anyway.

When taking Tech Arts Count Bonus into consideration, having Same Arts PP Save at lvl 3 is the sweet spot, more or less than that ends up being worse.

"Reduces damage you take every time you get hit. Reduction rate decreases over time."

Does that mean it lose effectiveness over time even if you don't get hit? Will it eventually be doing nothing for me?

minimum reduction rate is 15%, it increases by 15% every time you get hit and decreases by 25% per second, which means it will be at minimum most of the time but can go up drastically when dealing with multi-hit attacks/being comboed. while skill will be at minimum most of the time, it's still effectively 15% reduction for a single point, and that alone is worth it

Yeah I see now you can max it just fine and not lose out on anything important. Does it only boost your damage when you don't JA? Is it worth not JAing on purpose? No way right.

it's never worth not JAing on purpose because JA bonus is also 30%, which means not JAing still gives the JA multiplier but you lose the Etoile JA bonus and JA critical skills. With that being said, it's still a great insurance since you lose way less damage upon missing a JA, and makes it a possibility to say, purposedly cancel a PA early and miss a JA window to get damage before an enemy goes away and some situation like that.

The moveset for DS is still kinda jarring for me. Definitely will take some time to get use to.

It does take time getting used to it, I posted about input vs skip arts earlier on so you can check that, but basically you effectively have 8 PAs to use, on top of the strange mobility, counters and various chase mechanics. It ultimately makes the weapon very versatile though, so it ends up being a plus once the mechanics gel in

Lol man. I just pick things useful to me. I don't need HP restorate and don't need Flat Attack Bonus either.
What do you want me to do? Pick ATK? HP? DEF? Leave this 14 points unallocated?

i know for a fact you're not JA'ing 100% of the time and I know anyone would be glad to take that little extra 40 base atk points for a 1% dmg increase with the extra points.

Also thank you Zeph and Ezo for the detailed posts when I usually post when I'm too tired to bring that over here myself

Not really an Etoile question per say maybe but what are some mag skills/photon blasts people are using on their etoil?
Nothing I put on my Mag feels noticable.

Since Etoile can't use Techs I just go with the skills that apply Shifta and Deband and personally have Mag Revival just because when it happens rarely it's a lifesaver. Alternatively, you could use the Mate/Atomizer generation skills. As far as Photon Blasts, you can go any way really. Illios Proi for extra damage or just Julius Nifta for extra mobbing power is enough.
