only just found out PSO2 NA is windows 10 only. Damm japan game is so old that shit ran on XP, when XP was still officially supported by Microsoft.

It requires Win10 because Microsoft wants people to start up Microsoft Shop for tracking and advertising purposes. It's similar to singleplayer games that require permanent online connection for "authentication" purposes.
