well that explain some mess ups in NGS . i saw 3 strikes so far
1. the gigantix spawns , i saw one nearby central city , a rokkie area WTH
2. the fact that premium users cant trade stuff by clicking other players O_o
3. lack of relevant updates like in EP5 basing on the road map.
extra: the lack of default makeup for NGS faces , not even mustaches and beards , how nobody complain about that

the only relief its since EP4 end he wasnt involve in artistic decisions anymore (main proof its ch1 and margareta chapter on EP5 which were F... you EP4 moments) , i like the dolls desings . (sure omega demons are generic but eventually i like them too)

anybody can explain me how that guy was not fired after the artistic disaster of EP4 and the gameplay disaster of EP5 , if the first season of NGS turnout a disaster too that would be his 3rd strike and i hope he is out and banned of gaming industry

Not only Gigantix but a Battle-Hardened lvl 15 and common lvl 15 around a "bonus" silver-gold mobs in low-lvl areas is a VERY BIG FAIL.

It's an overall lack of a free cosmetics which can be used on a "clean" account without OG PSO2 history. We have a minority of them so no complaints.

I also can add here a useless N-SG Recycle Badges which can't be used to get a scratch tickets.

i like the dolls desings
It have a very strong TERA vibes. Even these Gigantix looks like a bosses from the Nexus there. Same situation when a lot of ppl waiting for a boss almost make me vomit...

UPD: these mobs from TERA are called Argons, their specific locations are Southern and Northern Shara which made in same design, the Nexuses take places also there.

Just looking back to TERA where these Argons are just a little part of a great variety enemies types makes NGS so miserable...

UPD2: Just realized: all these "field bosses" have same BAM conception taken also from TERA.

Most of the problems with Gigantix stem from the fact that they have such a strict time limit, which isn't a thing for the veterans and random level 15 mobs. Don't forget people need to go to said exploration zones to get materials, even if they're at the level cap.
I'm personally just a fan of F.O.E. or "Named Monster" types of enemies though.

TERA.

man i used to play TERA and i didnt rememberc how the Argons looked like , holy crap you are right DOLLS looks a lot like them up to the point of consider it plagiarims but mostly the aesthetics :S .
and thank the great light we dont have PVP in free roam , that would kill the game for sure , and i never liked the PVP in MMOs i always felt it tricky , winning or losing i never know what and how happen ; also dont you remember the first area outside of the tutorial zone how it was , max level players were there killing rokkies just for being a bunch of jerks

and the battle hardened enemies yeah thats another epic fail, PSO2 its a skill game , why not just make them high risk enemies for rokkies , just show a warning sign and its up to the players fight them or not
and why make the low level enemies give 1 exp , that takeout the zones replay value specially if at the end you cant one shot them

Those are fine.
No, they're not. Especially Cragbear near the tower which have enormous aggro zone. And Axe shooting beam can oneshot a newbie from enormous range too. I died from it once and couldn't even tell at first how i was killed. Realized afterwards only.

No kidding, I ain't staying in town while it's raining, I'll do my dailies when it's convenient for me. SEGA will just need to find a better way to deal with Gigantix in the future. Personally, I won't bother with them anymore unless they're some titles for killing them and even then, I'll wait until we're we can over power them easily.

When i first saw ngs gameplay, i was telling friends "dang, it is like pso2, blade and soul, and tera had a baby"

im waiting for cosmetic parts to come out to recreate my elin berserker from tera.

pso learned from diablo, pso2 learned from a bunch of open world mmo, now i just hope they execute well.

Honestly I liked EP4 mainly for it having Esca Falz? Anyway the blue Falz.. I kinda understand how the story was too mainstream for most but it works just fine for me. Phaleg was also in it too which made things interesting.

EP5 and EP6 I thought were made by one director as they were connected but I guess I know now why EP5 was so terrible.. EP6 was really amazing though, hopefully we can look forward to the EP6 director for new exciting NGS stuff.

I died from it once and couldn't even tell at first how i was killed. Realized afterwards only. That's perfectly fine though. There's no death penalty, and you learned something from it. They're meant to be a threat you learn to avoid until you're strong enough to fight them. Sure they might take you by surprise, but that's part of the appeal to me. They're meant to keep you on your toes and give you something to come back to later when you like "oh yeah, I'm strong enough to fight that thing I saw before", as well as give people coming back to those areas for gathering something extra to do.
Not enough games take advantage of level mechanics in this way, especially not online games.

I feel like you missed my point. I brought up people gathering in the context of fighting Veterans, not gigantix. It's not like you being there gathering is going to impact the gigantix fight, but the strict time limit is literally my only complaint about them. People wouldn't be getting so toxic about them if timing out at like 99% wasn't so common, and I feel like, for a field boss they should have more leway. Everything else about them I think is fine. (we still need an in-game forecast though).

I agree with this. One of the things I miss from FFXIV 1.0. It makes it feel more like a world to me.

Mainstream really isn't the word I would use for that... They turned the otaku meter to an even higher mark. That meter was always there unlike some people claim (like PSU's attempt of having an intro and ending after certain parts of the story to look more like an anime episode). Anyways, that only funneled the content to an even more specific group which is part of why it gets so much criticism.

i remember another mess up they did and was making the story progress separated by character which its a weird step back considering the next points

1 the story was never the main way to level up in PSO2
2 keeping in mind Daiki Hamazaki directed EP5 and the only good thing everybody can agree he did it was unify the story progress and this step back its weird considering its coming from him

and why this point its bad because you have to advance in the story in order to unlock the dailies , if you have 1 char you dont have to worry but for anybody who already have plenty of chars can agree with me you have to play the story a lot of times

Hamazaki was only an assistant director for ep 4, it's ep 5 that he's 100% responsible for. Ep 4 was by Nakamura, the ep 2 guy - and frankly I wish he was responsible for NGS considering how regular and plentiful ep 4's content updates were.

The rappy mission is the most annoying of the bunch. Need to run around and get lucky. Also, don't forget to set the mission to be tracked while you run around and it is not a bad idea to look for it in a party if you can.

those boss are spawn at the same place you also can switch block to see if it still alive

I find our lack of control over area instances baffling.

I cannot create a new instance of an area.
I can be in a party and end up in a different instance than my team mates because one of them went to fill an existing instance and I went to another one.

This is really bad.

While I do wish it was possible to create private instances for exploration and battle sectors, you can just use the ryuker device to go to your friends' instance or vice versa. It's not like it kicks you out of the party or anything.

I think I can complain here now. I had a hope of something change in NGS but... It's a freaking 2021 now:

1 Where is adjustable interface? Even Classic WoW back in 2005 had it.
2 Where is a free adjustable camera?
3 Why camera's always forcefully change itself whenever it wants?
4 Why in Salon I still can't open a few option adjusting windows?
5 Why when I exchange ability capsules I need to input tons of resources and not a destination item wanted count?
6 Why need to make these Cocoons/Towers when players clear these once to 5 star and forget about them?

It's barely a few things I can remember by now but there's still more.
I just log in barely for 2 hours now to collect Reactors, clear Dailies and play in Salon a little. It's fcking nothing to do.
Just keep playing this 'cause it's still PSO2 but now it's worse than any random Korean shitty grinding-game.

And more:

7 Where is a direct Tasks window hotkey?
8 Why when I rebind some functions like "interact", "dodge", "switch target", etc. to differrent buttons they works only in Cursor mode but not in Camera one?
9 Why game during a combat feels free to start a chat with NPC due to Task clear and remove subpallete bar from a screen so it's functions and weapon switching can't be used at this time till dialogue which can't be skipped ends?
10 Why there is no option to hide all items unusable in NGS in storage? Or at least sort them like this? It's really annoying to list this endless Material storage just to skip all unusable items and find some NGS stuff among them...
11 Why there is no option to switch inventory from list to icons?
12 Why when I sell items I need to click these fcking arrows on each item? I wanna freaking click-drag highlight selecting and selling it one click already in damn 2021.

I have no idea what type of pull this dude has to be able to direct the brand new PSO MMO. He nearly killed the game in Japan with EP5's stupidity and the JP's absolutely cannot stand him.
The dude is directing this game like he's making a mobile gacha game, but he isn't - this is a multi-platform triple A game. His "Grand plan" seems to be to make a game, then slowly drip feed release it over 2-3 years so he doesn't need to actually spend resources developing a game for the first 1-2 years to make profits go sky high(Kinda easy to make profits when you're not spending any money and only gaining). On top of this, his design for the game seems to be "Seasonal" gameplay where they simply change the element weakness and add new drops to already existing again, so again, he doesn't have to spend any resources on actually developing the game.

The lack of content is completely unacceptable for a multi-platform triple A MMO. If a game released in this bugged, unfinished, clearly untested, very obviously rushed state 15 years ago it would go down as one of the worst games in gaming history. Now? People gladly eat it up and don't care...

This game is in such a pathetic state I don't understand why all news media / gaming content creators aren't covering it. It's a great story and fascinating a game could release and exist like this.

I played Firefall back in 2015 right before I got into PSO2. It was still considered as an open beta back than but was in much better state than this both in quality and quantity.

And now we have 2021 here and SEGA doesn't even bother to rid of some outdated mechanics. Even a "new" graphics is kinda outdated now with all these DLSS and Ray Tracing development. Quantity is lacking too, especially a variety of enemies present. Since I got into PSO2 I don't follow a trend MMORPGs but I still remember WoW, TERA, BnS and Archeage... and now we have THIS.

This game is in such a pathetic state I don't understand why all news media / gaming content creators aren't covering it. It's a great story and fascinating a game could release and exist like this.So many MMOs come out and flop that I don't see why anyone would bother trying to milk this. You call it a triple A game, but honestly the series as a whole is pretty niche in the grand scheme of things. I feel like the general reaction from people who aren't still actively playing has been to just move on without any fanfar because to them this is just "another MMO that came out".
The other thing is that, bugs and weird design decisions aside, gameplay wise there's a really solid foundation. I'm literally only playing the game because it's fun to play, and when it gets boring I'll stop. Like I always have. For people who only play a couple of hours a day, or just log on to chat with friends the lack of content isn't very noticeable.

And before anyone comes in saying I'm defending the lack of content, I'm not. I'm just explaining why outside of places that are focused on the game specifically, like here or the subreddit, there isn't a lot of people talking about the state of the game. Most people I watch who cover games and weren't specifically super into Phantasy Star don't even know NGS is out.

Shiyo

gameplay wise there's a really solid foundation.

The issue with this, as we saw in PSO2, is that due to constant power creep, events, boosts, limited time content etc.. there is only ever 1-2 forms of relevant(appropriately challenging OR rewarding) content ever so the game is perpetually stuck in this "really solid foundation but no house on top of it" state.

Sega doesn't give this game series the respect, care, love, and attention it deserves. It's just a cash cow to them.

And why are random game news sites and channels, or casual players who just log on to do dailies and maybe do an EQ if one is up, going to care, or even know, about that right now?
Like you say "This game is in such a pathetic state I don't understand why all news media / gaming content creators aren't covering it. It's a great story and fascinating a game could release and exist like this.", but that's kinda the thing, there have been WAY worse flops of WAY more anticipated mainstream games. "new online game lacks content and is buggy at launch" isn't a big deal in the grand scheme of things. Especially after things like FFXIV basically needing to be be rebuilt, everything about Fallout 76.
Like the consensus I've seen from most people is that the game is fun, but lacks content, and has some bugs. How specific people feel about that varies, but I really think you've overstating how bad the launch is, or how much people care about the franchise. It's mediocre and underwhelming, not a trash fire, and mediocre isn't usually worth covering unless you're already invested. People probably won't start covering it for like a year when we get the "whatever happened to PSO2 NGS" stuff.

Sega doesn't give this game series the respect, care, love, and attention it deserves. It's just a cash cow to them.
Yup.
