Magic Rock Moola and Staff.....

I got the rock and I got a staff. I tried to combine to make the weapon and it wont let me use the rock. I tried equiping the staff and no go. how do I do it?

I believe Magic Rock "Moola" can be combined with a Cane series weapon, not a staff.
