View Full Version : Advice: Dex for a HUCast?

Should I bother with increasing Dex for my HUCast's mag?

My only concern is boss encounters - I see all walkthrus saying some need Mechguns for the HU to be effective, and with a low ATA I will not be able to use.

Just curious as all I have ever played before were FOs - this is my first HU.

Any help is much appreciated.

I have a HUcast and from experience I can tell you that your mag should be 45 dex and 150 power.

Yes a HUcast should definantly have dex on his mag. Since they lowered HUcasts ata a lot from the dc version I would highly recommend giving the mag at least 45 or 50 dex. Then with that dex also some elf/arm++ are good to have also.

Yea you could use elf arms, but i personally would use something like master ability only the better one, but i forgot its name so yea lol.

I'm probably the only one here that thinks dexterity is equally- if not more important than power. My Savitri has 5 DEF, 95 POW, and 100 DEX, and I never miss. It's awesome. You have to remember that the mag is one of the ONLY ways to raise your ATA- the other being armor slots. You can no longer get HIT material, so having HIGH DEX is a must!! If you need more power, just use power materials!

Oh damn, I just realized my FOmar's mag has no DEX. Oh well, at least he can freeze things then attack em.

I would put about 20 in as the mininmum. I mean hucaseals have the like second highest ata in the game so they dont need that much. The rest should go in pow to make up for what they dont have.

HUcasts really need ATA, so their great strenght doesn't go to waste (i.e.: MISS, MISS, MISS !#@$!!).
I use MAGs that pump up my ATA by at least 30~45 points.
HUcaseals don't need too much ATA, but if you want to make sure you hit every time, just give your MAG some 30 or 40 DEX levels.

A good moment for raise dex is between levels 10-50 of the mag. Because DEX is the easier to raise on those stages and speeds up a bit the mag raising.

Actually, Dexterity should be the VERY first thing you add to your mag. The reason why is because you can get to the first evolution without raising your defense at all. Antidotes are cheap, and very, very useful. I really don't see any reason to have the Defense higher than 5, but that's just my opinion.

I'd say between 40 min and 60 max DEX is enough for hucast. Anymore is a waste of POW and you should always have atleast 1 ata slot in your armor. Im a hucast lvl 119, my mag has 50 dex and 2 elf/arm++ I never/rarely miss in ult ruins with mechs, so dont aim to get too high DEX on your mag cos you wont need it.

I have 50 dex on my mag and some good hit % on my weaps... I do fine, if not excellent...

Well, if you want to waste your armor slots like Komodo, that's fine. In my opinion there are far better things for slots than things that raise your ATA. God/Ability, for instance? Oh wait- that only raises your ATA by 2, doesn't it? So where then might I get more ATA? My materials? No, not there... Oh wait that's right the only intelligent way to go about ATA is your MAG! WOW! Let's just say that the minimum DEX on a mag for any hunter should be 60.

for mag balance and evolution purpose my mags tend to have 60-70 dex not more, but usually not less.
elf7arm++ has a good boost of... 9 ata (whats worth 18 mag levels who could be of better use on another stat).

my current hunewearl design is: a robochao with (5 125 70 0), ogre/power++, elf/arm++ and usually 2 master/ability - it pretty much covers up all melee purposes (ate mat: 5 def, 50 pow, 50 evade, 30 luck, 15 mind).
