It seems that a lot of new people have been joining in the Antares 8 BA mode games, but there's a few things you might want to be aware of first.

Game names
Like c-mode, the name of the game can tell you a lot of information. Most of the formal games will tell you what rule is being played, ie. BA6. Other commonly used notation includes:
HU - This game is for hunters only.
No FO - No forces allowed.
4r - the 4th spot in this game is reserved. Please do not join if three people are already in the game.
reserved - all spots in this game are reserved. Please do not join unless you are invited.
free wins - the ultimate n00b magnet. Seriously, don't expect what the game name promises you.

Failing to respect the rules will most likely result in you being labeled a "n00b" or some other not-so-nice term, not to mention give you a bad reputation. Yes, the host of the game should kindly tell you to leave first, but BA vets do get grumpy at times. Also beware of n00b bashing, which may result in disregarding game rules as well. o.o;;

Inexperienced players, aka n00bs
Due to bad experiences in the past, some battlers aren't exactly fond of newcomers, but there are still many players out there who will be happy to play with you and give you a few tips. http://www.pso-world.com/sections.php?op=listarticles&secid=37 is a good place to start (just note that there's a small error in the r6 map).

Special notes about BA6
Due to this rule having teams, this is where newcomers encounter the most trouble. As mentioned before, some battlers won't mind playing a game or two to help you out, but in a regular game it's expected of you to be a good team player. If you don't know how to "km" or get the hg on the right when you first start playing, you might want to familiarize yourself with the rule more before dragging someone else down with you.

Despite what others say, no one was born to win all the time. Some people have played thousands of games and obtained thousands of wins, so don't expect to become the next champion overnight. It takes patience and skill, so don't give up. It's all just for fun!
