Challenge: Renewal of US Challenge mode!

Attention all avid and un-avid, veteran and green Challenge mode players! Due to renewed interest, Friday night Challenge mode will be back up and running starting next week, Friday, May 23rd. VulpesMundi and myself will be hosting the event at 8:00 p.m. Pacific Standard Time (11 p.m. Eastern Time) for the first night. Vulpes has expressed interest in starting earlier for the East-coast folks if the need arises. All in all, the plan is to meet people, have fun, and play Challenge mode!

Currently this is only on the Gamecube version of E1&2. Someone else will eventually be handling the X-Box version (Lolita nominated rbf2000, but we'll see if that holds true later). They're waiting for all nine of the episode I C-mode stages to be available before they start a weekly gathering there.

I'm planning on hosting the Friday Night C-mode Dance Party beginning at 6pm PST / 9pm EST / 1am GMT for the re-inaugural event on May 23rd. If participation is good, I'll continue to host the event from that time. Otherwise it'll return to the previously planned 8pm/11pm/3am time.

Well the Friday Night Challenge Mode Dance Party re-inauguration event has come to a close. Attendance was decent and people seemed to be enjoying themselves. I'd say it was a success, considering it's Memorial Day weekend and a lot of people are probably away from home.

I had fun and met some interesting people. And that was the whole point of the gathering, for everyone to have fun and meet people. Groovy, sez I. Thanks to everyone that attended, and hope to see you again next week. Same bat time, same bat channel.

I'll start the May 30th event at 6pm PST / 9pm EST / 1am GMT again. If attendance is at least as good as it was last night, then that will become the permanent start time. Tell your friends, tell your neighbors. Remember that the Friday Night C-mode Dance Party is for everyone who loves PSO.

I had a great time during last night's foray, and am proud to say I learned a lot more about the C-mode levels. So for folks who either have been turned off from online C-mode because the earned weapons are less than satisfactory, or have an S-rank collecting dust in the bank, you can get some use out of these things now! W00T! (Now I really want to get my Sha'hyn Twin Saber! Aiyah!)

On another note, for folks who want to do Challenge during the week, just head to Alcyone 6, the JP C-mode block, and try to hook up there. Makes things easier to have all the C-mode in one area when there isn't a scheduled event.

By the way, the main draw of the Friday night gatherings is to get enough participation on Deneb 4 that people will hopefully use it 7 days a week. It was proclaimed the official US C-mode block by many websites, and we'd just like to see it get used. It was intended for people who need to find others they can communicate and play with, since a lot of the Japanese folk don't really like to play with non-Japanese players (some do, but not a lot). So hopefully people will start to use it more and more in the coming weeks and months.

Anyway, another event has come and gone. This week's turnout seemed kinda lacking compared to last week. It started off strong (there was almost 30 people already there when I arrived at 6p/9p), but petered out rather quickly. I did meet some new people and ran into a few PSOW members, though, and overall enjoyed myself.

I'll keep hosting the event beginning at 6pm PST/9pm EST. Anyone who's interested in joining should tell others about the gathering. Participation is key to the success of a full-time US C-mode block.

Thank god. I was really getting pissed off at Alcyone 6. It's TOO DAMN CROWDED!!! Seriously, the block limit is 101 right? I've seen insane amounts of people there (Yeah, try 174.) And we all know that the more people there are, the higher your chance is of getting FSOD. On that ship I completed C7. New c-mode rank, one step closer to my S-rank. So I was going to return to the lobby, save and quit. But of course... I wasn't even in the lobby yet and BZZZZZZZZZT... It's kinda like ST's way of saying "Congradulations! You just wasted an hour of your damn life!"

Now I just have to wait for Friday... -_-'

FSOD is evil! I've said this before (I dunno if it was in here or not) but it's a good idea to start another game just after you clear a Challenge level, just to save your data. When you return to the lobby it doesn't save! So if you go BZZZZZZZT whilst chatting, you lose your rank. http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_frown.gif I've had that happen to me, and it sucks.

Also, for folks upgrading weapons - note that the Jellen and Zalure specials do not count as a hit when they attack. That means critters won't be stunned when you Jell or Zalure them. (Yiii!)

The June 6 gathering had the best turnout yet. The block averaged around 30 players all night long, and I was there from about 5:55pm Pacific until about 1:30am Pacific. It's a good start, but the turnout can still be better. Remember to remind friends about the gathering. Tonight's event went rather well. Started a little slow, but had what appeared to be the biggest activity at one time out of the last four weeks. People seemed to be enjoying themselves. All around a good time.

Midnight Central is 10pm Pacific. So far these past four weeks the gathering has lasted at least until midnight Pacific, and the last two weeks have lasted past 1am Pacific. So yeah, there should still be plenty of people there.

C-Mode fridays owns! Even if you dont play C-Mode, you can party down. Though I did get my weak force ass to C3 and well kept dieing so, C3 and C4 ar on deck for this Friday. And on a side note, Vulpes how do you get full screenshots like that? Its not with the built in snapshot fuction so someone tell me how.

The full snapshots require a special video card in your computer and a cable to connect the GC to your PC. There are a few other folks at PSOW who can take full screen caps (like Snapple, for example). Somewhere around here is more specific info (like what card you need)...ehhh, I'll let the knowledgable folks describe it.

Last night started really slow for me. I got there at 8:50, (usually there 20 or 30 peeps already there) And there was one person, Judah. And the next person to come was Vulpes. Well noone did any challenge, and at 10:00 I had to log, and never got back on (though i should have). And you know whats really evil? I can only find cmode games on fridays. Noones ever on Denab, there all on Japanese Alycone 6 (which is impossible to get on) and it seems friday is only day i can ever do cmode which bites!

Well...
I only saw 4 people there tonight but we went though C1, C2, C3, and C4. These were actually great maps. If we were doing TA they would have worked great, but we were taking it easy.

It was quite entertaining. We had a few problems in C2 but that was the only one with problems. If I remember right we got some nice times. Correct me if I am wrong:

This is a rough guestimate...I do not remember for sure, but it was quite fun playing. Maybe I will remember to drop by again next Friday...hopefully there will be more people around to play with.

OK benoit, since you've been complaining so much about the PSOW cmode times, why don't you do something about it? Here's what we can do, you organize a cmode night and time for EU players, and you set it up and get people to come. I'll be happy to come the first two times and get things rolling even though it'll mean I wont be able to go to bed at all that night, and have to got work all tired and cranky the next day. So set up a time, and let me know, maybe you can get the EU cmode nights rolling.

Well I'm sorry to say I wont return for tonights cmode party. I helped a few people through C1, benoit you were there. Then while trying to join the C2 game to help Benoit and the others through that, I DC'd and corrupted while joining.

Funny thing this is, no fsod or buzzing or nothing, just a DC and a memory card failed to save file error. Then BANG all files corrupted. If I can restore, I'll be very happy. And the problem is, my time was running short for doing the C9 stages... damn nightshift work.

For all aspiring Cmode players:
I am usually at 11am EST on Deneb 4-1, sitting there for a while if anyone wants to join me for a stage or two, you're more than welcome. This is mainly for the EU players that can get at that time.
Anyone else who can and want to join, just show up.

I recently was talking with my fellow Cmode friends, and they feel (as well as I) that people must give an effort to learn how to play as a team.
Too many people are just there for Srank weapons and the rank. That is only selfish thinking.

Cmode is about Challenge! (That's why its called Challenge Mode, d'oh!) It's also about teamwork and having fun! There is no 'me' in the Cmode... there's only 'we', as in 'we are a team'.

Come on people! Put a little heart in it and get ready to meet a good match this Friday night!

yes, its been very slow on cmode fridays, and i was really hoping it would pick up when cmode wednesdays began. i really do think that vulpes is starting to become "less energetic", because people are just not coming. lets try to fix that. remember, its 6pm pst. yeah, i'm done.

Edit: i played with spud on a c6 game... i knew it couldn't be guntz because he didn't play as well as guntz would have... hehe.

I've seen numerous people ask about an Xbox Cmode night, and every one of them has been ignored. Is there any chance that this will be set up for Xbox some time soon? It's hard to get a reliable group to go through them all, and I remember someone saying that it will be organized on Xbox once all the Cmodes are up, and they are.

Well, I got no problems whatsoever playing over early challenges to help out, that is if there are people of course.
Finally was able to join the wednesday challenge mode on Deneb (was up early because of fighting cats in my backyard)(GMT time here)
Unfortunately there were only 3 or 4 people present, which doesnt make it easy to find volunteers to play a challenge stage.
So the most difficult thing is not having people wanting to play over an early stage (because I know I dont mind) but crowding the lobby with challenge mode volunteers is the most difficult part.

Bluntly, I'm getting a little frustrated here with this site's lack of care whatsoever with the Xbox version of PSO. No one will answer anyone on Cmode night for Xbox, and I'm sorry but I think it's the better version, and I DO have the ASCII KB for my GameCube.

Just answer, is anything going to be done or not? I know that people important to this decision read this message, and I think ignoring it like this has been very rude.

I don't have Xbox PSO so there is no way for me to host a cmode night, I dont even have an Xbox. But I, as well as all of the other mods and staff would be more then happy to help anyone who wants to host a cmode night. You would need to pick a ship and time and day of the week and be willing to try your hardest to show up every night the cmode night rolls around. If anyone is interested in hosting an Xbox cmode night please either post here, or PM me and I will try to help as much as I can to get a cmode night started for Xbox.

Problem: i was there on friday after being gone for a couple of weeks (real life stuff going on, i promise it won't happen again), and vulpes and i were the only ones that showed up. during the week, you might want to advertise cmode friday to all your friends, and maybe one will show up with you. then we could have a team of 4! whee!

I'd be more than happy to play Challenge Mode on Wednesdays (Fridays I can't make it), but the truth is, I can't get on that late.

I posted an event on the Calendar for this coming Wednesday, me and two of my friends will be open for Challenge Mode in Vega 08, from roughly 4 CST til 8:40 CST.

As for Challenge Mode Wednesdays officially...I think they should start earlier, than I'd be able to join the fun as well.

WOW, the first post in 19 days! Congrats! Well, My HL has been canceled at the moment, but hosting the cmode night is quite easy. The only thing I did wrong was I didn't tell enough people in advance. And try mailing everyone on your card list, even if you have only played with them once a month ago, people still show up when a complete stranger mails them. Don't give up! I had a max of 25 people on Deneb 4 and around 3 teams of cmode, I could have done better, but it wasn't a bad first cmode night for me. I love c-mode playing, but I've had a hard time hooking up with other players. Other than the item-stealing, box breaking hucast noobs hanging out on Dav 10 lately:

mm...if someone would set up times to meet...I can wait in Deneb 04 for rooms to join...I usually sit in Alcyone 06 all night and into the morning joining rooms to play. I don't have a problem playing in normal rooms...I see them more for fun and practice. I can change between a HUcl, HUct, or FOnl as required. All I need to know is what ship/block/time you want to do this. Nightly is ok, or once a week. Sometimes I will look at Vega01, Vega02, Altair02, Altair04, and Deneb09 looking for challenge rooms and occasionally find one to join.

I will do any stage but E2C5. My HUct skill is so bad now...especially in E1C2. So don't be surpised if I want to play FOnl...ahaha. I have not completed E2C4 yet...and maybe later when someone wants to play or I learn more...I failed it maybe 4-5 times at boss...shame on me, but it was my room...and beginner's room too so I don't feel so bad about it.
