I have been toying endlessly trying to make a female voice with the voice chat. Can someone who has toyed a lot with this feature tell me if there is any way to make a female voice with the Xbox communicator?

...

...

...Why would you want a female voice? To make guys hit on you so you can sucker items out of them easier?

That's just wrong. I hope you never find a way to do it.

What about those of us without genders? Don't we reserve the right?

What about those of us who have voices that would normally draw negative attention?

You're lame for worrying about gender on PSO.

Hey, i've been hit on in the GC version... and we don't even have voice chat to make people believe things -

"A/S/L" is the demand

I've replied female and the usual stuff, and there was this one kid who asked me 'in real life?' after I answered, and another who proceeded to hit on me after learning that I was (a) five years older than him and (b) eight time zones away...

Sometimes, I can understand this need for a batch of guys screwing with those desperate little brats....

I know that my BF and I have talked about this very concept several months before now...

I don't see what's so wrong with someone wanting to use a female voice. Perhaps they have a female character and would like to role-play. There's nothing really wrong with that!

I'll try and find a method you can use... It's gonna be hard to get something that works for me to work for you tho, because I've a naturally strange voice.
Although I hate the fact that now 3 different people have told me that I have an "amateur pornographer voice". Heh heh heh.

From what I've played with in the voice mask setup, type 2 seems to be the best bet, but it makes me sound like Bart Simpson or something. http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_eek.gif If I can get a voice down that makes me sound like a little girl, that would be funny as hell for my FOnewearl. Only reason I'd wanna mess with it. o_O And even then, only with my little group of friends.

Man, it really is pretty funny though, how many times I get asked my a/s/l just because I play a... er, several female characters. My answers now range from "69/F/Aberdeen" to "I lost my A/S/L." http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_lol.gif
Shit. Asking personal questions such as gender and age are two things you'll never see me doing... Even if it takes me a week, two weeks, sometimes even a few months, I'll discover this info on my OWN eventually on PSO.

Somewhat recently, a few fairly well known players on PSO attacked my best friend, accusing her of being a 23 year old Japanese guy... Well, a few DAYS ago, the one that originated this rumor got a little taste of his own medicine, so to speak, and somehow remembered that there was a person that shared the same name with her, and that he was going after the wrong person the entire time... ummm... huh. I'm not sure how true that all was, but the ENTIRE ordeal caused a lot of shit between my friend and several of her friends... all because of her gender?
It got to the point where she would be flamed in lobbies, get hate mail and even have a few 'tards asking for her phone number so that they could verify that she was, indeed, female.

Sorry if I've gone a little offtopic, but just backing up kat's post a bit... ugh...
It really is fun to make a HUnewearl with skimpy clothing and run into Vega (or Oberon or wherever), and get about 10 cards within seconds. Jeez.

I played with someone who complement his character with terrific voice masking in the form of an android. It was one of the funnest games I have played. I decided to follow suit. After all immitation is the greatest form of flatery. Unfortunately, I have a Ramarl, so the android voice is innapropiate, for my character. Thanks to Captain Dude for understanding what this post was about. Role Players where are thou?

Tell the a/s/l-er's that you can't cast any techs, you're out of TP...

well, the only times ASL annoy me are when it's the fist thing out of people's mouths... I Understand curriosity...

Personally, if I were a guy and on the box, I'd so go for a female voice just because it's hysterical...

It's not about the giving of rare items, it's about the sheer... need to do it...

No big whoop either way. I'd personally find it more freaky to hear a guy's voice while looking at a FOnewearl than with a masked female voice.

OK, I don't have XBOX PSO, but I'm thinking about getting it. How many voice masks do you have to choose from for PSO? And other then the robot one, what do they sound like?

Yeah, personally I'd rather someone mask their voice to maintain the illusion rather than have a big bold deep 'Bubba' voice come from that short cute newman girl. As long as the mask was effective and relatively transparent. I personally wonder about people who see something like PSO as a dating service... bleh. I'd just prefer if the roleplaying illusion wasn't shattered. Same reason if I had Xbox PSO I'd use android filters for my androids, and try and vary filters for my male voices. But I'm Gamecube, so this is moot. http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_wink.gif

Well...I don't got Xbox PSO, but I do plan on getting True Fantasy Live when it comes out. And of course I'd like to be a female character, so voice masking would be cool.

Otherwise, you might get a kick of making a thexy HUnewearl, walking up to a group of HU/RAmars, and in your deepest guy voice say "Hi, boys."
