Basically what Guntz said for miscellaneous guide info. Once you complete C9 (and assuming doing so earns you S-rank) you go back to Pioneer 2 and talk to the Guild lady. Doing so will open up a menu where you first get to choose your weapon. Once you've selected your weapon, you can name it (just capital letters, no punctuation or numbers). Once you've entered the name it will show you what it will look like in your inventory screen (e.g. YOUR SABER), and ask you if this is OK. Once you've OKed it, you get your S-rank in your character inventory and return to the lobby. Do note that you do not equip your S-rank, so if FSOD or BSOD occurs, you'll lose your S-rank. That's why it's a good idea to quit the game and save or just start another game immediately and stash your S-rank at the bank.
